The jailing of the Jan. 6 riot defendants is not just an obvious miscarriage of justice, given the length of time they've spent in detention without trial. It's also turning into something that's full Soviet.
Here's the latest from one Judge Amy B. Jackson, who, after denying release at least once to one guy, went ahead and let him out. He's a Buffalo, New York-based defendant named Thomas Sibnick, who's recanted:
WASHINGTON — A federal judge reversed her bond decision Tuesday for a Capitol riot defendant accused of robbing a D.C. Police officer — in part because she found "toxic"

The leading Republican tasked with his party’s investigation into the preparedness and response of the U.S. Capitol Police and other law enforcement agencies to the Capitol riot on January 6 is being blocked by President Joseph Biden’s FBI from gathering information, a new document reveals.
The FBI told Indiana Republican Rep. Jim Banks it would not provide Republicans the same information provided to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s hand-picked committee consisting only of Democrat-appointed members.
“We respectfully refer you to the Select Committee regarding issues of access to records and information,” the agency wrote in response to a Republican request for information, referring to the official House panel established by the speaker.

The shooting on the set for the film “Rust” may result in criminal charges, said a New Mexico district attorney.
District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies told the New York Times that officials are still investigating and “haven’t ruled out anything” on whether charges could be filed.
Last week, actor Alec Baldwin was rehearsing a scene on the set of the Western film near Santa Fe when he discharged a loaded gun, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza. Baldwin, who is also the film’s executive producer, hasn’t been charged in the incident.
“Everything at this point, including criminal charges, is on the table,”

All over the world, great power governments are struggling with their respective tech giants for control of the social media platforms. China’s ongoing crackdown on big tech is the most conspicuous. “Take Jack Ma, founder of the e-commerce giant Alibaba.” The Party called the billionaire in, told him his forthcoming IPO was illegal, and served notice that any new initiatives would need the regulators’ approval. Russia’s not far behind. Moscow sees Google, Apple, Facebook, Twitter, and Amazon as a threat and wants them replaced by “sufficiently pliable domestic entities — such as Russia’s large tech conglomerates like Yandex, VK, and Sber.”

A self-proclaimed non-binary lawmaker in Oklahoma blasted Gov. Kevin Stitt for his remarks asserting there are only two genders and that “there is no such thing as non-binary sex.”
Democratic State Rep. Mauree Turner claimed it was difficult to have a working relationship with someone like Stitt who opposes “your existence.”
“If you have to work with people who adamantly oppose your existence, right, to the point to where we can’t work together, you can’t talk to me, you can’t talk to me like I’m a human being, you don’t see me, that damages anyone’s working relationship,” the first Oklahoma lawmaker to identify as non-binary told Fox25.

By now you may have heard of the left’s latest insistence that we drop the expression “pregnant women” in favor of “pregnant people.” By using this phrase, they wish to emphasize that it is not only women who can conceive and carry children. According to the woke, men can now also partake in the joys of pregnancy.
This is surely a remarkable position to take by those who routinely mock the virgin birth of Jesus as narrated by the New Testament.
As you may know, most of our science-oriented woksters think the notion of a woman conceiving by divine intervention is a completely ridiculous idea that could only be believed

President Joe Biden held a town hall in Baltimore on Thursday evening.
During the event, organized by CNN and hosted by Anderson Cooper, the president discussed China's aggression, abolishing the filibuster and gas prices. He also shared details on the stalled negotiations to pass his multi-trillion-dollar social safety net bill.
On the Build Back Better Act, Biden insisted he would not support a work requirement for the child tax credit, as sought by Senator Joe Manchin. He added that a paid parental leave provision has been reduced from 12 to four weeks.
There were also several somewhat unusual moments. Here are a few…

Terry McAuliffe, memorably characterized as "the unkillable cockroach of the Democratic Party" by PJMedia's Stephen Kruiser, is not faring well in the polls in his campaign for governor of Virginia. Apparently, neither is New Jersey's Gov. Phil Murphy, who's also running for a second term as governor who at last count had just a six-point lead, plus a toxic endorsement from The Nation, which declared him "the most progressive governor in America." That won't go over well in Jersey City or Weehawken.
Democrats think these elections are important to their wretched 2022 prospects in Congress and have whipped out their big guns -- not flailing Joe Biden, of course --

Now that the Biden administration is treating the Taliban as some kind of partner, allowing them to determine who was flown out of Afghanistan at the time of our abandonment of a massive trove of armaments and depending on them to rescue the large number of Americans left behind, this State Department tweet, issued yesterday, is not going to win a lot of hearts and minds: [Tweet] Nor is the Arab world going to be impressed. The Chinese leadership, now campaigning against effeminate men as they seek to inculcate a fierce and warlike spirit in their present and future military, must be suppressing effeminate giggles as they congratulate themselves

A new “peer-reviewed” paper has been released from Cornell University titled “Greater than 99% Consensus on Human Caused Climate Change in the Peer-Reviewed Scientific Literature.”
The study is yet another attempt to convey the nebulous notion that widespread scientific consensus exists regarding the primary causal factor behind climate change. A previous study, spearheaded by climate blogger activist John Cook, concluded in 2013 there was “97 percent consensus.” Despite near-universal acclaim and its citation by leading policymakers such as the United Kingdom’s energy minister, the study was inherently flawed.
Dr. Mike Hulme of the University of East Anglia explains, “The ‘97% consensus’ article is poorly conceived, poorly designed and poorly executed. It

This week, we take a focused look at how the West’s most destructive superstition can grip the mind of even the most strident “rationalist,” and what that means for those of us who don’t partake in the séance.
Penn Jillette, the tall half of the hugely successful magician duo Penn & Teller, is one of the entertainment industry’s most outspoken atheists. For decades, Jillette has smugly condemned all manner of religious, psychic, and pseudoscientific irrationality. He also has a fan base on the right, because as a self-described libertarian, Jillette’s often mused about how “taxation is theft” and government compulsion is bad.

First there was the multifaceted disaster of the way Biden’s handlers’ woke military mishandled the withdrawal from Afghanistan. Now another Biden catastrophe is in the offing, but Team Biden is working hard to cover it up. “You know what they’re hiding?” asked Jonathan Wilcox, a spokesman for Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA). “The latest Afghanistan disaster from the Biden administration. The White House is turning the page and closing the door.” Wilcox said this after a bipartisan delegation from the House, including some members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, was denied admission to Camp As Sayliyah, a U.S.-run
