Kane, DuPage sheriffs: Chicago police
shortage due to vaccine mandate isn't
an emergency for us

At least two suburban county sheriffs say they will send their deputies to help the Chicago Police Department only if city officers are in distress or under duress. So they say they will not respond if Chicago is short-staffed because it has suspended officers in a dispute about a COVID-19 vaccination mandate. "ILEAS (the Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System) typically responds to emergency situations where there is no opportunity for planning," Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain said Tuesday. "This situation to me is much different." "It's like a preplanned police shortage," DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick said. "The lack of logic is the thing that astounds me."

They won't be scabs, but will help in an emergency. Right response. Policing is a brotherhood and I doubt you will get too many cops to cross a line except to help other cops in need.

Good for them. I would not want to enter the City of Chicago any time soon. I'm sure the fight will be on among the Alderman to ensure their turf has enough police. Then, some will find the gangs will simply take over larger sections of the City.

Another good reason to NOT help Chicago is if any of the Politicians are being attacked...Let it be...Karma sucks when it works!

Yep, Chicago intentionally firing a huge bunch of officers who have safely served through the last 18 months of this Dem-panic shouldn't be any sort of an emergency for surrounding areas. Chicago needs to own their stupidity all by them selves.

Bet Mayor Lori Lightfoot will make sure that her police detail stays fully staffed during the shortage. Her personal police should be the first to go to help cover the shortages on the streets. Let Lori Lightfoot live like the rest of Chicago, unprotected.

Tell the moronic mayor to cut down on her CPD protection unit. That should cover the short fall of cops.

There’s a cohort of hardcore populists within the House GOP whose loyalty to Trump is such that they’ll eagerly parrot any conspiracy theory he likes but most GOP reps who are asked about this tend to mumble something noncommittal about “election integrity” and “unanswered questions” before changing the subject.
