Phil Collins' battle of the Alamo: Genesis
frontman is caught in US race row after
his donation of £10m worth of memorabilia
for museum is accused of 'glorifying myth
of a handful of whites against a Mexican horde'

For decades Phil Collins has been accumulating a huge collection of memorabilia from the legendary siege of the Alamo. Now the 70-year-old Genesis frontman's hoard of weapons, clothing, letters and other artefacts are at the centre of another battle—a very modern one about race. Critics argue the collection helps perpetuate a narrative that focuses only on the battle's white leaders and ignores Latinos, Native Americans and black figures.(Snip)In 2014, Collins gave the 430-piece collection–worth up to £10million–to Texas. His only proviso was that, by 2021, the state create a museum at the Alamo–a 300-year-old fortified mission in San Antonio

Comments:

With the American Taliban tearing through New USA like Sherman through Atlanta, the artifacts would be safer back in Mr. Collins' hands.

It was the victorious Messicans who wrote the history of the battle in which the bravery of great American warriors was recorded. “One shot, one kill” is what the Messicans witnessed, admired and respected re: Davy Crockett whether today’s leftists like it or not.

Regarding the Cancel-America Marxists' view that the Alamo glorifies the myth of a handful of whites against a Mexican horde: If you cut the word "myth" from that, I'd say "Damned right!" Remember the Alamo. It still stirs the pride of Texans.

The Alamo is the Shrine of Texas Liberty. It stands with Thermopylae as one of the great battles of history where people stood against a much larger force of overwhelming numbers. No amount of "re-imagining" can change what happened there. When one actually goes to see The Alamo, there are several plarge panels with references on the grounds of the Alamo that doucment the history of the land from prehistoric times to the present which tells the history of the site on a time line that shows the influences of MANY cultures of persons who were there over time and are treated with historical respect. The fact remains that settlers to Stephen F. Austin's "colony" which included many coming to settle the untamed area were white, but there were also hispanic Tejanos, and persons from many countries outside of the United States. Santa Anna was an egomaniac tyrant who violated the terms of the Mexican Constitution of 1824 who was defeated at San Jacinto and well treated by Sam Houston on his return to Mexico. No amount of 'wokeness' can change these facts. Some want to dispute what Phil Collins wants to donate as not being documented to be authentic in an attempt to disparage his collection, but to nit pick the history of what actually happened trying to make heroes out of those who killed the men on the grounds and taking no prisoners can not be allowed to stand. The fact remains that persons who wanted to live free under the protection promised by the Mexican Constitution of 1824as citizens of the government of Mexico fought to defend their rights against a corrupt Tyrant who massacred Colonel Fannin's troops at Goliad and at the Alamo with over whelming numbers of troops. That is history that will never change. Race absolutely had nothing to do with it.

One, “Mexican” is not a race; two, ethnic Hispanics fought alongside the whites; three, Santa Ana was North America’s first and only ethnic cleanser. The critics can GRH.

The federal vaccine mandate will soon apply to Justice Department employees, contractors and visitors to its buildings, but one group it won’t apply to is illegal immigrants showing up for their deportation case hearings. The migrants are deemed an exception to President Biden‘s mandates because they are seeking a public benefit or service. That means they will not have to prove they’ve been vaccinated or show a negative COVID-19 test from the previous three days. Their attorneys are also exempt. Those exemptions aren’t sitting well with immigration judges and other employees who will have to interact with the unvaccinated. They say allowing in unvaccinated and untested people defeats the purpose
