An upstate New Yorker bearing an uncanny resemblance to Brian Laundrie had a rude awakening when US Marshals on the hunt for the fugitive pulled their guns on him during a nap on the Appalachian Trail.Ithaca couple Severin Beckwith and Anna Brettmann were catching a few winks at the Lodge at Fontana Village Resort after lunch when they heard a knock and their door flew open, the New Yorker reported.“Next thing I see is a bunch of guys with riot shields with ‘US Marshals’ written on them, handguns pointed at my face,” Beckwith told the mag.The stunned hiker was promptly handcuffed as one of the feds helped Brettmann get dressed.

Ambushed on the Appalachian Trail? Bonnie and Clyde were ambushed. This guy had the door of his resort hotel room forced open and was put in cuffs. Big difference

Nothing to see here, folks... [Move along, sir. Sorry we frightened the living crap out of you but this is actually your fault for resembling the guy we're looking for. Shave that beard, sonny.] Agree with #2. Evidently "ambush" is another of those pesky words writers use with little understanding of the actual meaning. Osama bin Laden was ambushed. This poor dude was attacked in his hotel room while taking a nap.

Wrongway Feldman kops botch another one. Obviously this guy was NOT known to them, unlike all the other FBI setups like Orlando, Boston, Las Vegas were, so they had guns drawn. What I want to know was who told them this guy was Laundrie? Did they determine someone who resembled him was ever out west? Did a judge issue a warrant just on looks? Shame on these cocksure idiots. Item to DISMATLE Federal law enforcement. And give US citizens Back those Billions of bullets purchased & warehoused for fools like these under Obama.

I am willing to give the Marshall's service the benefit of the doubt here. However, I do question their tactics. There are reasonable precautions to take. Yet, today, everyone seems to be treated as armed and unhinged. In pursuit of dangerous felons, their tactics are proper. Perhaps a little more investigation prior to a full SWAT assault would have yielded better results. Maybe waiting until he stepped out of the door? That seems like it would be safer than a violent invasion on sleeping people where confusion and the instinct to defend oneself could have been met with deadly consequences.

White House advisers were forced to 'clarify' a comment by Joe Biden that the US would defend Taiwan in the event of an attack by China, in breach of a longstanding policy that states otherwise. 'Yes,' he responded when asked in a CNN town hall about defending Taiwan. 'We have a commitment to that.'Biden's statement was at odds with the long-held US policy known as 'strategic ambiguity,' where Washington helps build Taiwan's defenses but does not explicitly promise to come to the island's help in the event of an attack. After Thursday's town hall, a White House spokesperson was forced to clarify the president's position,

Preliminarily, it is tragic that 42-year-old Halyna Hutchins, a rising cinematographer in Hollywood, died yesterday on the set of Rust, a movie being filmed in Santa Fe, New Mexico. My thoughts are with the loved ones she left behind. Having said that, I cannot escape a feeling that karma had a hand in this one because the finger on the trigger of the gun that killed Hutchins belonged to Alec Baldwin, a hysterical leftist who is fanatically opposed to the Second Amendment. To give a sense of Baldwin’s hostility to gun rights, in 2018, the smug and constitutionally illiterate Baldwin had some harsh words for Dana Loesch, an NRA spokeswoman

First things first. National Review Editor Rich Lowry is not a “die-hard” Trump fan. We’ll offer several examples later in the article — but let’s first get to the business at hand. As Lowry sees it, it’s a fool’s game to overestimate Trump’s dominance of the Republican Party this far in advance of the 2024 election. Lowry writes, in an op-ed posted by The New York Post on Friday, that Republican politicians who think the Republican Party belongs to Trump can be forgiven, given that he not only survived two impeachments and the January 6 attack against the U.S. Capitol; he has since continued to thrive.
