The first time the guy in the hooded sweatshirt and face covering passed my car, I ignored the needle [filtered word] of fear that ran through me. It was 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2. I was parked and Googling directions to a costume party, dressed as a peacock. The second time he appeared, I couldn’t ignore him. He told me to get out of my car and give him my phone and my money.(Snip)According to the New Orleans Police Department's calls for service data, 2020 saw the highest number of carjackings in New Orleans in a decade—278 people called police reporting carjackings that year. That’s a 104% increase

Comments:

Expert apologists point to the ongoing effects of The Great Pandemic, including scarcity of jobs and increasing prices of cars, and disruption after Hurricane Ida. After all, doesn't everyone turn to violent armed robbery when welfare benefits have never been more generous? Renouncing American history and thus respect for our civilization, to include tearing down Confederate monuments as symbols of White supremacy, has nothing to do with it. Treating criminals as victims deserving no punishment in the name of Equity and reconciliation has nothing to do with it, nor does reviling the police, nor does spendthrift governments that can't fund prisons. Teaching minorities in school to hate White people has nothing to do with it. Victims keep piling up, but that's the price we pay along the road to Marxism.

Difficult to say what you'd do, conditions can make self defense inadvisable, but an armed person has an excellent chance of turning the tables on these thugs.

If you can't understand how things like vigilante justice or the Brazilian can occur, then you haven't been paying attention to the direction in which this country is heading. I can clearly see that we are approaching the point where every family in the US will be touched by crime in some form. Along with the march to Marxism we are also on the way to the Thunderdome.

Portland, Ore.—A crowd of 100 people wreaked havoc in downtown Portland, Oregon, this week–smashing storefront windows, lighting dumpsters on fire and causing at least $500,000 in damage–but police officers didn't stop them. Portland Police Bureau officials say that's because of legislation passed by Oregon lawmakers this year, which restricts the tools they can use to confront people vandalizing buildings and causing mayhem.(Snip)Residents frustrated by the latest round of destructive demonstrations Tuesday questioned whether that meant anything goes now in Portland. “Does that mean we are now like a lawless city?” Linda Witt asked during the meeting with police.(Snip)Mayor Ted Wheeler’s office didn’t respond

The uptake of Covid booster jabs may be too slow to prevent hospitals from becoming overcrowded this winter, experts fear. One month into the programme, only half of eligible over-80s have received a third dose, despite being at heightened risk, NHS figures suggest. (Snip)'People were initially told that two doses were enough. They were in lockdown, and the vaccine was their ticket out of it. Now there's much less incentive.' Duncan Robertson, of Warwick University, said delays in administering the jabs will have to be 'resolved immediately' to avoid unnecessary pressures on the NHS. 'Booster vaccinations are there to prevent hospitalisations and ultimately to save lives,' he said.

The Art Institute of Chicago fired all of its roughly 100 volunteer museum guides, or docents, in September because too many of them were wealthy, white women.
