American Airlines and Southwest Airlines said Tuesday they plan to follow federal guidelines to have their employees vaccinated against COVID-19 by December, defying an order by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to block such mandates. American Airlines, based in Fort Worth, Texas, said in a statement to USA Today that the governor’s order “does not change anything” for the company and that it believes the federal vaccine mandate “supersedes any conflicting state laws.” Southwest gave the news agency a similar response. The airline, based in Dallas, ordered all of its employees to get their COVID-19 shots by Dec. 8 to comply with a federal directive.
How is Southwest going to follow the mandate (which doesn't exist), and avoid firing people?

Have to say, the pharms are getting extremely rich off this pandemic. The gov't has no right to say what you can do or cannot do to your body. This regime is the worst we've ever had and it's just starting. I've had covid - almost 2 yrs ago. I'm still here. I also got the shot (it's not a vaccine) just so I could see my grandchildren. If covid is so bad, close the southern border and stop sending the illegals all around USA.

Where is the official “mandate”? There is none. No XO, only a Biden press release stating his proclamation. If there was a formal mandate they know it would not hold up in court. The government can not force people to make a medical decision against their will. A mandate in any form is not a law. Civil disobedience now or lose your freedom and rights.

There is no "Mandate". It is just a press release. OSHA is to issue the regulations but they never will as those regulations as they will lose in court. I think these companies are playing it both ways,. They can say they complied but they will not fire any employees. I think Southwest has already said this.

Governor Abbott just gave American Airlines and Southwest a gift: a cover, a lifeline to stop forcing vaccines on their employees. The CEO's rejected it. That's all you need to know. Tucker is right, the Southwest CEO is a complete and total liar.

This is because someone from the Federal Gov't probably went to the airlines and had a conversation with them....

Hope the Governor sticks by his guns and ceases their flights into and out of Texas. And also shuts down any other operations they have there.
And Boeing too.

I just saw an earlier post that stated Southwest wasn't going to follow Biteme's illegal order.

Southwest CEO is not scared of Abbott. He is scared of the Federal government. We are finding out even private companies? Guess who really owns them?

Yes #11 - which was the latest statement? The SWA CEO told Cramer no one was going to be fired over this.

Maybe I don't understand the definition. But isn't government control of "private" companies fascism?

I'm sure they have all been threatened with losing any/all Federal contracts if they don't hold firm on these directives.
Thus, they don't need an official XO, or OHSA ruling.
Just old fashioned arm twisting seems to be working just fine.

Then Abbott should start tossing airline execs into the hoosegow. Maybe they'll come to their senses after chilling out in the cooler for a while..

SO WHAT. I'm having fun doing road trips. Just went Houston to St. Louis in a day. I'll get back on your airplanes when you stop telling me to wear a mask if I want your peanuts for the next 4 hours.

Time to reconsider flying any airline that imposes this ridiculous mandate on their employees. I got the vaccination and that was my choice. But I also strongly defend the rights of those that are opposed to being coerced into getting the jab to keep their jobs. The only thing these airlines care about is their profit margin not the health of their employees or customers.
