Sen. McConnell actually did a good thing

Let’s do a little thought experiment. The Turtle got eleven Republicans in the Senate to vote for cloture on the debt limit extension. Many Conservatives are screaming that he surrendered and all is lost. But what would have happened if he hadn’t done that? (snip) No Republican voted to increase the debt limit. And it’s unlikely that any will, since now the Dems can do it without Republican help. The spectacle will be fifty Democrats voting in favor against fifty Republicans voting “No.” Kamala Harris will cast the tie-breaking vote

It's a good thing. Really. Republicans, you lying scoundrels, use those Democrat slush funds to payoff some of the old debts, then you can add on new debt for things needed.

There is no need for new debt. There is a need to cut hundreds of billions of waste in the current budget and this is long before the current 5 trillion in super pork they're trying to ram rod now.

Bullshit. I see a bunch of articles trying to prop the Murder Turtle up as the master politician over this, and even a few poster here buying this drivel. The bottom line is that China Mitch caved in at the last possible minute, again, as he has done over and over again year after year. He is a gutless puke on the debt ceiling who talks tough, and folds like a cheap card table every year on this issue. The BS about forcing the Dems to use up one of their two reconciliation bullets for FY2022 is a new scam, but the result is the same. Come December, when this all rolls around again, Mitch the Bltch will cave in again, and it will be some other excuse. No one besides a political hack gives one damn about a vote count spectacle. The result is the thing. Idiots.

Utter hogwash. The Republican Party has been doing "strategic retreat" for 80 years with nothing to show for it. There's nothing left to defend. I can just hear Schumer saying "Oh that nice Mitch. He bailed me out, Maybe I won't nuke the filibuster". Sure. I will never vote for another Republican.

Spin it however you like. We needed to draw a line and hold fast. McConnell did not do that. Ergo - another republican failure. Democrats could care less if they vote for a white elephant as they have such a glorious history with Obamacare and many other serious violations of the Constitution and Bill of Rights. They are accountable for nothing. Show us backbone and honest elections and you might get our support back.

Actually, moving away this distraction a few months is good politically. It leaves the Demonrats no excuse, no distraction from their own infighting. It makes it all more public, more obvious and more clearly a 100% Demonrat problem.

Understanding politics requires more than just raw anger and a short term mentality. I am NO FAN of China Mitch, but taking this distraction, this fig leaf for the Dems, off of the table for a few months is politically a good thing. It exposes their infighting to more scrutiny, takes away one more "look, a squirrel!" thing that the Enemedia can use to distract from their failures and backstabbing each other.

Vermont’s RINO Governor has been hailed as having “saved” the state from the scourge of COVID by “leading the nation” in high vaccination rates, but now the boondoggle of bunk COVID science is home to roost in the Green Mountains -- the state has the highest rate of infection nationally. The layers of COVID fog are starting to clear, as reality eclipses the fantastic lies of the government and medical establishment. Initially, Americans were told that natural immunity from COVID-19 was “unlikely” for those already infected. Now, it turns out it is the vaccines that wane -- 76% of Vermont COVID-19 fatalities from breakthrough infections are “among the first vaccinated.”

Anyone paying attention knows that America is fast polarizing to become two distinct factions. (snip) Let’s first consider the political dynamics in 1860. America was similarly divided into two general factions, then defined as “free” and “slave” states. Then, there was no mass exodus occurring from the free states to the slave states. What doomed the Southern slave states, both economically and politically, was slavery itself. (snip) unlike the South in 1860, the dynamics driving the secessionist impulse of the red states are not due to their inability to compete in the economic and political landscape among free Americans in our constitutionally federalist system.

I'm going to try to explain what's going on in America right now by drawing a connection between two news stories. On the surface, they don't seem to have much to do with each other, but when you really think about them, it's obvious that there's a common thread. The first story comes from way back in November of 2018, when President Trump complained about an "Obama judge" on the Ninth Circuit ruling against his asylum policy. Trump's comments angered Chief Justice John Roberts (snip) Now for the second (snip) YouTube's decision, about a week ago, to ban all content questioning the efficacy of COVID vaccines.

One of the more bizarre twists in the saga of the COVID pandemic has been doctors growing increasingly frustrated and even angry with patients asking for medical treatment rather than wholesale vaccination. There is a significantly lower incidence of serious cases of COVID in countries that use ivermectin for early exposures. Doctors are not taking kindly to the suggestion that patients should have access to medication that can prevent serious illness. They are denouncing ivermectin as a veterinary drug

When Abraham Lincoln spoke the prophetic words "a house divided against itself cannot stand" — in a speech before the Illinois Republican state convention in 1858 — he was a relatively unknown politician. He saw the obvious: North and South were hopelessly divided over the issue of slavery — or more fundamentally, states' rights — and a breakup was all but all but unavoidable. This came to pass in just a few years' time in the form of the Civil War. Is America nearing a similar point in 2021?
