Educators in one North Carolina school district can now be fired if they 'undermine' foundational United States documents or teach critical race theory in their classrooms.
The Johnston County School Board unanimously approved the curriculum policy changes on Friday after county commissioners decided to withhold $7.9 million in district funding. The all-Republican board of commissioners said they would continue to withhold the funds until a policy was established to 'eliminate the possibility of CRT – Critical Race Theory – teachings and any other potentially divisive teaching topics.' The newly passed policy – a revision to the district's code of ethics – states that teachers will face disciplinary action if

They had to do this because the criminal governor in NC vetoed a bill that would ban the teaching of CRT. "Cooper said in September that the measure would have inserted politics into education." Just like a lying, projecting leftist. Always accusing people of doing what they're doing. He said Republicans should focus on learning loss caused by HIS extended shutdown of his state. Get out of here with that! These people. Go Smithfield! Fire your governor, NC! He probably stole his way into the governorship anyway. If he's so concerned about race, he should resign and let the Lt. Governor, a black man, take his place.

Just teach the truth. It is said we learn from history or will be forced to repeat it. Very often we do not know our history which is why we are seeing the rise of totalitarianism in our country. Running after every story of injustice and corruption without counterbalancing it with the just and good things this nation has done is wrong. We have done more in this country to uplift our people and the people of the world than any other country. We have fought and died to pay the price of freedom for all of our citizens. We have made mistakes but we strive to correct them. The shapers of history in our universities and high schools many times refuse to have discussions on the merits of the country. Is it any wonder why students come out of these institutions hating this country? Americans don’t want a whitewash of our past, but we do want the facts, unbiased and without left leaning commentary. It is time to stop the indoctrination of our children by radicals. They have no place in education. It is our rights as parents to demand that our children are not being used as vessels for far left ideology. America is a great country and every child should be afforded the opportunity to learn about out history without political bias.

Troubling, and here is why.
Dr. Mary Edwards Parker is the only woman to receive the Medal of Honor, for her service during the Civil War.
The problem was that she did not do anything unique during the war, so her award was revoked by Congress, around 1920.
Then during Jimmy Carter's sad presidency, and in an act of cowardice, Carter reinstated Parker's Medal of Honor.
How would one teach about Parker? Is she a hero? Nyet.
And don't even get me stated on Douglas MacArthur.

Why not just teach the truth? Some historical figures were heroes, others like generals Custer, Sherman and Grant were bloodthirsty murderers who killed hundreds of innocent Native Americans. Slavery was a part of daily life if you owned cotton fields and it ended with hero Abraham Lincoln.

It's a start. It seems to me they'll need to nail down the specifics of the curriculum, since our history is complicated. But so long as they teach the truth, this is a good thing.

I notice that 3 of the 8 board members are black. That’s a great sign! Of course, the left will call them “black faces of white supremacy”.

Every person who signed the Constitution was signing a death sentence for him and his family if they were caught by the British. If that's not heroic, then I don't know what is. To slander them because of the times they lived in, is just unforgiveable.

Sorry #5 but Sherman, Custer, and Grant WERE Heroes and always will be in my house. As far as 'innocent" Native Americans bloodthirstly murdered, I will opine that the only people Native Americans hated more than the white man, were other Indians. Oh yeah, innocents died in ALL WARS.

This is what happens when public education is left to the teachers unions and their cronies. The school board needs to review and revamp the curriculum, and fire teachers for not teaching the curriculum. The first firing will be tossed out by the courts for the ethics standards being overbroad. What exactly is "undermining the United States foundational documents"? What exactly is neutrality in 'discussing a controversial topic'? Well?

No need to be sorry, #12, you are entitled to your opinion as much as I am. Wiping out entire tribes including women and little children because you wanted to build a railroad or open Indian land to gold miners is not a heroic act in any class of people at any time in history. Yes, two of the three generals helped win the civil war but the military massacre of helpless people who only fought to protect themselves does not sit well with me. For an extremely detailed and accurate account of our "settling" of America, read Bill O'Reilly's "Killing Crazy Horse."
