A massive crude oil spill off the coast of southern California — believed to be at least 126,000 gallons — has reached the shores of Huntington Beach, damaging local wildlife and possibly closing miles of beaches for months at the popular surf destination. The pipeline believed to be the source of the spill has been shut down, according to the head of the company who operates it, while divers on scene continue to search for the exact cause of the spill, believed to be one of the largest in recent Southern California history. The origin of the leak was a break of the rig Elly,

Haha, the Cali-crackpots shuttered the oil industry and now no one is caring for the old legacy rigs at sea. Pretty much the same problem they have with forest fires due to undergrowth not being cleared due to eco-nazi rules from Sacramento. Fools.

Accidentally on purpose? Huntington Beach was the heart of CA Covid resistance holding mask-less rallies during lockdown. There was a video of the copper running in sand trying to chase down a surfer running at the water line. Fun times. They also had Coast Guard boats harassing surfers waiting to catch a wave. It does make a thinking citizen wonder. Lots of underground talk that the big fires were set/kept going by design to burn out the mountainous rural communities. Would it be that far afield for them to sabotage an "old" rig for a good cover story?

Actually the spin is rather small compared to others, don't they usually count oil in barrels? That would make it 4000 barrels.

Funny how there have been no oil spills in California for years, but now when a green new deal bill is being debated in Congress, suddenly oil springs forth to foul the California beaches with the ever present soiled bird videos.

Huntington Beach always was and IS "Oil City", it hosted the Boom that made Los Angeles a Household Name, keeps it lights on still today. But, that being said...The company "responsible" is headquartered in (P) Resident Joe Bidens Delaware, went bankrupt in june 2020, reorganized and back in Business by Aug. https://www.oilystuffblog.com/single-post/surf-city

Excellent point, #6. They use gallons when they want to exaggerate. How long before they go to liters like in Europe, that would jump up the number by roughly 4X.

In remarks from the White House on Monday, an exasperated President Biden addressed the looming October 18 deadline before which Congress must vote to raise the nation's debt ceiling or face defaulting on its debts on the heels of last week's failure to whip enough support among congressional Democrats to move his domestic legislative agenda forward.Failing to raise the debt ceiling is "reckless and dangerous" according to Biden who attempted to explain the situation in layman's terms. Such a vote, Biden claimed, is "paying what we already owe, what has already been acquired" and "not anything new.""We're able to borrow because we always pay what we owe,"

Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp all remain down in what is now a four-hour-long global outage that experts say was caused by an internal error on Monday morning. Between 11.50am EST and 11.52am EST, Facebook made a series of updates to its border gateway protocol (BGP) which caused it to 'disappear' from the internet. The BGP allows for the exchange of routing information on the internet and takes people to the websites they want to access. Facebook's changes included withdrawals which removed its properties from the domain naming system it operates and essentially made it impossible for anyone to connect to the sites

Fauci, making the Sunday talk show rounds, said on CBS News' "Face the Nation" that Americans first need to focus on lowering the number of new infections and hospitalizations. The best way to do that: Vaccination and booster shots, he said. "We've just got to concentrate on continuing to get those numbers down and not try to jump ahead by weeks or months and say what we're going to do at a particular time," Fauci said.

Torres said, “[T]here’s misconception about the price tag of the Build Back Better Act. The Build Back Better Act, the original draft, it is not 3.5 trillion over the course of a year. It’s over the course of ten years. So, it’s $350 billion. Which, for a $20 trillion economy like ours, is a modest investment. So, I think it’s shortsighted to focus on the price tag.”

His made-up persona runs into some trouble after his brother (Jesse Plemons) brings home a new wife (Kirsten Dunst) and her queer son (Kodi Smit-McPhee).
