Reagan once said: "The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the Government, and I'm here to help." He was right, the government’s not your friend and it most certainly isn’t here to help you.The dirty little secret about government is that its purpose is not really to make the lives of citizens better but, rather, to accumulate power at the expense of citizens. Not sure about that? Ask yourself, how many government agencies have put themselves out of a job because they succeeded? There’re a few that technology left behind, like the Steamboat Inspection Service; others that served their purpose, like the Defense Homes Corporation;

The US Constitution and all the legitimate laws that originate from it. are primarily meant to restrain government rather than enable it. Not one law school of name will teach you that today. Politicians routinely talk about rights that come from the various Amendments. They don't. The Federal Government was deliberately designed to operate within strictly enumerated powers. How many people that vote every alternate November know this?

Our founding fathers knew that. The Bill of Rights (the first 10 Amendments) is the evidence. The BOR restrict the government from impinging upon its citizens. Unfortunately, today's politicians don't adhere to that philosophy. 1/6 is an example that the battle is still alive between the Government and US, the citizens. The 2nd Amendment keeps us free. God bless our founding fathers.

This country was founded on a mistrust of government. Its foundational documents are limits on government, starting with the separation of powers into three co-equal branches. Over recent years Americans have lost that mistrust, in fact many investing heavily in whatever the government says or does, from free shtuff to perpetual wars, depending on whose side is currently in charge.
People think government is nicer, more supportive than private enterprise...until they run up against the uncaring bureaucrat, the rapacious regulator, or the woke judge.

Please refer to the movie Spaceballs. In that movie the pilot is a MAD, half man and half dog. He is his own best friend. The Government is made up of MADs, and all of them are their own best friends. Like all living things, the Government is best in making more of itself. So once you have a commission or a committee or a bureau, soon you have two or three. When left alone in the dark, they generate more of themselves.
The lesson we have learned from China and from the Roman Catholic Church is that bureaucracies do not die. China had a revolution which claimed 100,000.000 lives. Within 10 years the civil servants were back in business.
That is what the Constitution tried to do. The Constitution has failed, and we are once again in the grasp of career Government officials.
No wonder Jefferson called for a revolution every 30 years!

The closest you can come, #2, is to find it online and post a link. I suspect that 1 in 20 who read a post actually go to posted links.
Personally, I have learned a lot from going to links posted by Ldotters, so I usually DO go to the links, but I don't think a high percentage do.

Not in the least. The public education system is actually working as designed. It's creating voters and they elect socialists.

Proof that the government is not your friend? Just look at governments around the world over history. Most with few exceptions took money and goods from their citizens and were corrupt. Look at China, Russia, Venezuela and mint more. Always look with a jaundiced eye at our own government leaders and tell me they aren’t corrupt.
