Democrats on the New York City Council are eyeing a plan to allow nearly a million non-citizens the ability to vote in local city elections. The plan, backed by 34 Democrats on the 51-member New York City Council, would allow non-citizens with green cards, visas, and work authorization to vote in city elections so long as they have resided in New York City for at least 30 consecutive days. The plan indicates that legal immigrants on green cards or an employment visa who have lived in New York City for at least a month would be able to vote for mayor, comptroller, public advocate borough presidents, council members, and

Can these vote-nappers be unemployed? If so, then these non-citizens can be both on the public dole indefinitely AND vote for those who will keep them funded even if they are not working. "Nice work if you can get it ..."

They, theoretically, could elect a non English speaker from Haiti to be Mayor of NYC if they go ahead with this plan.

Why not let anyone and everyone vote then? Heck send this Georgian a Ballot, I want to vote in your elections too.

Oddly this almost makes sense with certain restraints.
1. If not a citizen you are in the USA LEGALLY.
2. It applies ONLY to civic elections in which you are a property tax paying resident. Even through rent.
3. You are not on public assistance.
If you are here legally, employed, and paying civic taxes you should have a say in who governs your city.

The goal here isn't necessarily allowing illegals, er, 'non-citizens' vote. It's getting them on the voter rolls. They can then accidentally vote in federal elections. Auditors will then have to determine if they're legal or not. E.g. It's nearly October and the audit of the 2020 election is still going on.

The Civil War was fought to keep all the states in the Union. The next one could be to throw a few out.

The states aren't necessarily the problem, #9. The problem is the communist run city-states within them. The vast majority of the country is center right. Many states, including mine, are vast areas of people completely unrepresented, because some damn city full of leftist trash dominates the politics.

Well, if the RESIDENTS of NYC allow this to happen, then they deserve it. Pretty soon They will be run by Haitians or some other Foreigners. Biden is pulling in the Illegals by Hundreds of Thousands. I would guess he's sending them to cities just like NYC so that they will become the Majority and will vote Democrat. Yes, that is already happening in NYC, but RESIDENTS are able to vote for the Democrat of their Choice. Look at MN. They imported so many from Somalia that now they are overrun by them and are now under their Rule! It's time to put your foot down to the Biden Administration or they will ruin our country, one city at a time!

New York doesn't even need this to keep Democrats in power.

They deserve anything they get.

Most non-citizens are not illegals, this is for legals. I don't think any illegal would sign up because then they would be at risk of being found out.

Aliens with work visas are not even permanent resident aliens but are aliens who have been allowed into the USA to perform specific work and then must leave the country. Aliens with “work authorization” generally have no legal immigration status who are being allowed to stay in the USA for one reason or another in other words they are illegal aliens. Essentially what the New York City Council is saying by allowing aliens to vote in city elections is that US citizenship does not mean anything anymore in New York City. Once they register nearly a million aliens to vote in city elections they will be on the voter rolls there, and who is to say that those same voter rolls won’t be used in all elections that take place there including State and Federal elections? Since the voter rolls in New York City are maintained by Democrat politicians and bureaucrats anything is possible if it benefits Democrat candidates. In New York City the United Nations has their headquarters that is staffed by many thousands of aliens from all over the world who have been allowed into the USA on visas and are allowed to work at the UN, would all those UN employees also be allowed to vote?
By the way in the current immigration laws, an alien is any person who is not a citizen of National of the USA.
