Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng has claimed Britain will avoid an energy emergency in the coming months despite warnings of a 'black swan event' after Russia was accused of rigging gas prices. Kwarteng said he did 'not expect supply emergencies this winter' as he prepared for talks with chief executives of the UK's largest energy suppliers and operators to discuss the global gas situation today. It comes amid warnings of a 'black swan event', an unpredictable episode with often severe consequences, after global gas prices surged due to high global demand, maintenance issues and lower solar and wind energy output.

Comments:

Maintenance issues because there's no money to keep things in repair, and lower solar and wind energy output because the costs of these far outweigh the overstated benefits. The British government also increases demand for energy by importing the world's poor, whose bills are paid by the taxpayers. A recent development; people take no issue with governments that work actively to harm them.

I am glad I bought stock in Generac. I wonder if they sell in Britain? I bought when I thought the stock was pretty darned high, having increased 350% in price in the previous 2 years or less. Since I bought in mid May of this year, the stock is up 50%. As an old financial advisor once said, "High and going higher". Freezing in the dark. Better be getting ready for it folks, it's coming. Count on it, plan for it.

Russia strangled Ukraine every winter this way. I have friends there and the were always freezing in their apartment when we would skype, wearing sweaters and coats indoors, and such. Putin uses gas as a hammer to get what he wants. The Euroweenies are just stupid to buy gas from Russia.

Depending on Russia for energy is insanity on steroids. When the sun doesn’t shine and the wind doesn’t blow fossil fuels or nuclear have to be ramped up to provide energy. Europe is learning the hard way right now.

It would be humorous if the UK has to resort to burning coal in their homes to keep from freezing to death. The chimney sweep industry may be in for a revival.

34, I suspect that they powers that be would make burning coal in your home illegal, and mining it and delivering it a crime. And how many current British homes still have their old coal chimneys? How many were built since that era with no way to burn wood or coal in a stove?

Anal sex became the surprise agenda item at a school board meeting in Texas after a mother chastised educators for stocking a sexually explicit book in school libraries. Wednesday’s dreary Lake Travis Independent School District board meeting about its finances and coronavirus response took a shock turn when incensed local mother Kara Bell took to the lectern to read a racy extract from a book found on middle school shelves. Bell was aggrieved that a passage from the 2015 young adult novel “Out of Darkness” by Ashley Hope Pérez depicted “cornholing,” which she later found out was a euphemism for anal sex.(Snip)The mother’s microphone was switched off,

Israel's former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suggested in a Facebook video posted on Sunday that US President Joe Biden had fallen asleep when meeting the new Israeli leader Naftali Bennett last month. Social media users shared a video clip of the US president that they said showed him looking down and nodding off as Bennett spoke in the Oval Office. Biden was awake but his response was cropped from the video, leading viewers to think the President was having a 'senile' moment during his first meeting seeking to reset US-Israeli relations over Iran's nuclear advances.

The White House is concerned that the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meeting in New York, which kicked off last week, could be a COVID-19 superspreader event. 'We are concerned about the U.N. event being a superspreader event, and that we need to take all measures to ensure that it does not become a superspreader event,' President Joe Biden's Ambassador to the U.N. Linda Thomas-Greenfield said during a press conference Friday. World leaders began descending on New York City last week for the annual meeting, and Thomas-Greenfield notes they aren't necessarily abiding by local vaccine requirements and other coronavirus-related restrictions.
