SpaceX has shared a stunning video of the domed 'cupola' window on its Crew Dragon capsule, as its first all-civilian crew began its three-day orbit of Earth. Taking to Twitter, SpaceX simply wrote: 'View from Dragon's cupola,' alongside the video of the domed window, with Earth in the background. The Inspiration4 crew - including Jared Isaacman, Hayley Arceneaux, Sian Proctor and Chris Sembroski - launched into space shortly after 8pm EST on Wednesday (1am BST on Thursday) from the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida.

I like Elon. He’s certainly infinitely more interesting than Bill, Jeff, and Zuck. (And, I would argue, he is significantly brighter.) His visions offer benefit to others, rather than control.

Depends on what "manned" means. They are just along for the ride. Not doing any flying as such. Dogs and chimps have done it before. Anyway, great views.

I believe this is a proof of concept mission for SpaceX journey to the moon. First use of the "lab". And since they were not docking to the ISS why not put in a window? This is another step forward for SpaceX. Kudos to all involved, props to Jared, that ponied up the fare for all four. We like private enterprise.

I doubt I will ever get the chance to personally see that view, unfortunately. It would be amazing, I am sure, and I envy those who get the opportunity. Photos will have to do. An astronaut friend told me that his most wonderful time aboard the Space Station was an EVA where the mission was to test a new suit glove design. Previous designs had poor fingertip tactile sensing or they had very cold fingertips. This new design, which I got a chance to wear, obviously not in space, had thin silicon rubber finger tips, but were electrically heated to protect the wearer from the extreme outside cold while preserving pretty good finger tip feel. In any case, his job was to be put in a foot restraint, on the end of the shuttle arm and put out far away from the Shuttle, but in it's shadow, this being the coldest possible position to be in, no direct solar heating, maximum heat loss to surroundings. He had to hold still for 45 minutes to see if the suit heating could keep his fingertips warm, even without any 'working up a sweat'. No movement was part of the requirement. He had them turn him so he could watch the earth go by, and said that the view out of a space suit helmet visor is the best that there is anywhere. He normally was so busy with a tightly programmed workload every waking minute on the station or on a working EVA that there was only a few stolen minutes or seconds to look out the windows or stare at the earth while on EVA. 45 minutes of just 'free time' to nothing but watch the earth roll by was one of his favorite memories of his six months on the SS.

Former President Trump remains a kingmaker in the Republican Party, but Rep. William F. Buckley’s desire to “stand athwart history and yell ‘Stop!’” described a personality type more than a political agenda. Conservatives, by well-earned reputation, tend to revere traditions and institutions, trust authority, and favor measured, incremental change. Dana Carvey’s impersonation of George H.W.
