In early August, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis took the fight against the COVID-19 Delta variant to the streets. He traveled the entire state, opening infusion centers so Floridians could receive monoclonal antibodies (MAs) as outpatients when they tested positive for the virus. The state’s surgeon general issued a blanket order that allowed patients to receive them without obtaining a physician’s order. Then DeSantis held dozens of press conferences using the slogan “Early Treatment Saves Lives” to raise awareness.
Despite communications from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and an entire web page on accessing the treatment, many Americans remained in the dark. Most hadn’t heard of Regeneron,

The Mayor of Hudson, Ohio is as mad as hell about students in his small Akron suburb being told to write “a sex scene you wouldn’t show your mom,” and wants “all five school board members to resign or face possible criminal charges,” according to a report on Monday in the Akron Beacon Journal.
Mayor Craig Shubert made his demand after parents complained about some of the material in a book called 642 Things to Write About used in local schools’ Writing in the Liberal Arts II class.
The book provides writing prompts for students, including “write a sex scene you wouldn’t show your mom,”

An angry woman assaulted and cursed out a Navy sailor at a Connecticut pizzeria, claiming he was wearing a fake uniform on Sept. 11, shocking video shows.
The clip, posted to TikTok, shows a woman smacking the face of Navy man Sean Nolte Jr. as he got food Saturday at Central Pizza in Berlin.
“This is disgusting,” the woman says as she picks up Nolte’s hat from a counter and throws it at him. “Disgusting! You f—ing piece of s–t!”
Someone recording the confrontation tells the woman to leave before cops are called, prompting her to demand that Nolte “show his uniform” while calling him a “disgrace” to the country.

Chinese President Xi Jinping snubbed President Biden’s request last week for an in-person summit to smooth over relations that were soured by Chinese human rights abuses and secrecy about the origins of COVID-19, according to a new report.
Biden told Xi on Thursday during a 90-minute call that he wanted to have the meeting to achieve better relations, but Xi “did not take him up on the offer and instead insisted Washington adopt a less strident tone towards Beijing,” Financial Times reports.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Watching the 20-year anniversary coverage of the 9-11 terrorist attacks brought back a day to remember! Just before I was beginning to speak on managing change to Verizon leaders in Niagara Falls, I was handed a note. It read simply, “A plane had just crashed into one of the Twin Towers.” The executive whispered to me, “We’re going to have to cancel. We are one of the principal carriers in New York City. We have to get our people back to the city.” By the time we had left the meeting room and entered the lobby, we saw the second plane fly into the second tower.

Say you’re sitting at a red light. You just stopped. You’re dutifully switching between podcasts on your IPHONE. Maybe answering that text from your boss. You’re minding your own damn business. Maybe the driver who is right behind you is distracted. Their dog got loose in the back. Maybe their kids are crying. Next thing you know, they are attached to your rear bumper. You are pushed past the red light into the middle of traffic. Your airbags deployed and you have that delightful little powder in your eyes. People are yelling, confusion has set in. You're reeling.
How the hell did that happen?

The city of Boston honored one of its own, U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Johanny Rosario Pichardo, who was one of the 13 service members killed in a suicide bombing in Kabul days before last month’s pullout from Afghanistan, on Saturday, the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
Rosario Pichardo’s remains arrived at Logan International Airport where her mother, grandmother, and three siblings awaited and were overcome with grief as her casket was removed from the plane.

Reports of voting issues are coming out of California in advance of Tuesday’s special recall election when the fate of embattled Governor Gavin Newsom will be decided, leading to confusion and suspicion among some voters.
According to a local news report, residents who went to cast their votes at a Woodland Hills high school were shocked when they were told that they had already voted according to computers.
The problems occurred at an early voting site at El Camino Real Charter High School where several people were informed by staffers that they wouldn’t be able to cast their ballots and were given provisional ballots instead.

On the 20th anniversary of 9/11 Saturday night, former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, his NYPD commissioner of the day, Bernie Kerik, members of SEAL Team Six which killed Bin Laden, and other veterans of the war on terror gathered at Cipriani Wall Street for a night of bittersweet memories.
There were tributes to the fallen and a celebration of the “largest evacuation” in US history, with 25,000 people saved from the Twin Towers, thanks to the selfless courage of the first responders.
Giuliani praised the NYPD as “the best law enforcement agency in the world” and gave an entertaining speech

The oldest living World War II veteran has celebrated another trip around the sun — his 112th, to be exact.
Lawrence Brooks was feted Sunday with birthday drive-by at his home in New Orleans, with video showing the bespectacled vet wearing a mask and Saints jersey and waving to the small crowd.
He advised others to “serve God and be nice to people,” according to WDSU.
Born on Sept. 12, 1909, Brook served in the US Army from 1940 to 1945 as part of the predominantly African-American 91st Engineer Battalion.

Photographers who shot some of the most unforgettable images on Sept. 11, 2001, and the days after remember the stories behind the pictures.

“I had too much sake the night before. I lived in Jersey City and wasn’t supposed to start my day until 3 p.m. to shoot a local 13-year-old web designer, but my mom called at 8:22 a.m. to tell me what had happened. I took a ferry into lower Manhattan. I was 30 then and had only moved to New York less than a year earlier — I’d never even been to lower Manhattan. That day we saw the best in humanity

A Texas hospital system imposed "new restriction criteria" on the use of ivermectin, excluding the anti-parasitic agent from treatment of COVID-19.
St. Luke's Health will only allow its infectious disease physicians to use the drug for preventive treatment of strongyloidiasis, a roundworm infection, according to a Sept. 2 directive shared with Just the News.
Its wording suggests that non-infectious disease physicians had been considering or actually prescribing ivermectin for COVID patients.
The relatively cheap treatment has been promoted by an eclectic group of influencers. Evolutionary biologist and former Evergreen State College professor Bret Weinstein has regularly touted ivermectin on his DarkHorse podcast, which led YouTube to demonetize his channel.
