What it’s really like to be canceled

Kevin Hart, Megyn Kelly, Joe Rogan, Kanye West and other celebrities have all faced cancel culture — a merciless, social media backlash targeting their comments and beliefs, which seeks to remove them from society. But this social firing squad isn’t just for the elite. In fact, most cancel culture victims are young, voiceless, financially vulnerable or don’t have a major platform on which to defend themselves. Last year, I became one of those victims. In the summer of 2020, when defunding the police became a popular refrain and white supremacy was considered the greatest threat to the West, I wrote an essay sharing my experiences with racism growing up as

And this is what is wrong with our society: "social media has increasingly replaced real social interactions". The pandemic cannot be blamed. Long before that happened you could look around any restaurant and see people on their cell phones and ignoring their dinner companions. I got off facebook 4 years ago and am so glad I did. It is 90% "look at me" and 10% "let me see what other people are doing". It is 0% real relationship!

Just remind yourselves of the girl who spoke to the media about (then) VP Biden sexually harassing her. She took it back. But why? Not because it wasn't true but because her friends would boycott her.

Dump Twatter, Fakebook and all the rest of them. If you use them, you’re giving financial support to the odious Zuck and Dorsey who then fund the left. If you want to stay in touch with family and friends use your phone to call them, FaceTime with them or text photos to them. Or make the effort to go see them in person. No one needs leftist social media.

It's outrageous that college professors, who should be promoting free thought, are on-board with cancel culture. Sadly, colleges and universities have been infiltrated by diabolical Marxists and are now nothing but indoctrination camps with jackbooted professors whose primary purpose is to brainwash and crush descent. Many of these private universities have massive endowments but still charge outrageous tuitions. Their finances deserve more public scrutiny. Where is all the money going? In the meantime, we need to eliminate federal funding for these "schools," and defund the racists who are undermining God and country.

I don't do fakebook, tweeter, instagram, any of these. Never have and never will. And I am quite fine and happy without these social media viruses. I'm totally content with my family and circles as they are. Within my circle, I suspect there are opposing political and social views. But, we all understand that life is way too short to waste time lecturing each other on our respective belief systems.

Never opened a social media account and never will. Nothing good comes from it. It amazes me that people who use social media refer to those that follow them as “friends”. They have no clue what a real friend is. A real friend is someone you personally know and actually cares about your well being. They also will be the first to lend a hand and have your back in times of need. I am fortunate enough to have many real friends whom I see many times a year and can rely on to be there in good times and bad. Your social media followers are not friends. They are leeches.

I'm an older person as I read the article my first thought was, 'you worry too much about other people and what they think'. The writer is 20 years old with his own thoughts all things being equal social media can cut two ways. The writer should have shunned them and don't be shocked you won't lose much. Social media helped me purge who I thought were old classmates and friends. I don't skate around others feelings but don't purposely hurt others. Apologizing sometimes is a bad mistake it's like your first and only 'F' on your report card it's always there to tell on you. Good luck son but stay on the path you are on.

#5, a large part of the problem is that these professors have been "educated" within the system which spawned "cancel culture" and all the categories, definitions, and new ethic which the Left has construed in order to deconstruct our traditions, history and culture. The striking thing about this situation we're in is how few people seem to be able to think for themselves. Listen for a little while and the lack of reason is shocking. But here we are. Maybe it has always been thus, but i don't think so., Education conglomerate thrives on people who are dependent, child-like, easily led, easily whipped up into a cancellation frenzy. I love those who stand up against these petty, puny tyrants. They are standing against the same thuggish authoritarians who attack the prominent and wealthy.

As we have all learned from Joe Biden's presidency, the phoniest/baloney-est claim from liberals is that they have a deep desire for national unity. There is no unity in compromise, only in surrender to the Left. At the end of Sunday's Reliable Sources, fill-in host John Avlon interviewed the PBS gasbag Ken Burns, asking him about national unity, and he's as phony as Biden. This is CNN, so Avlon demands unity in exaggerating the January 6 riot: (Video) AVLON: You've made the point in terms of the quest for unity, that at the end of the day, Americans usually can rally together when something catastrophic has occurred.

Noem presented the former president with the sculpture after he made a speech at the site on July 3, 2020, as part of the state's Fourth of July celebrations. The replica was never revealed to the public and little was known about it other than a disclosure filing with the Office of Government Ethics that suggest it cost $1,100. They have big boots to fill. Sixty-five on-duty members of the FDNY lost their first-responder fathers in the Sept. 11 terror attacks, or watched them die of diseases caused by toxic smoke and debris at Ground Zero. These young Bravest — including three women — decided to honor their fathers’ courage and sacrifice by following in their paths.“Knowing what happened that day, it just shows their bravery and willingness to face those challenges,” FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro said of these legacies — the sons and daughters of firefighters and officers killed in the line of duty. Some were as young as 5 or 6 years old on 9/11.

It seemed to me that, absent a sudden and sharp decline in that number, Joe Biden would be our next president. It must have seemed that way to Biden and his top advisers, as well. During presidential debates that occurred a little less than a year ago, Biden ripped Trump for his handling of the pandemic. The death count was the centerpiece of this attack. What's with the bizarre campaign against Ivermectin? It's not just that the FDA has put out a quackish tweet (shown here by AT contributor Dr. Brian Joondeph, M.D.) scolding viewers that they are not horses or cows. That's in reference to the fact that in some high-dose forms, ivermectin is used as a horse dewormer, begging the question about its effectiveness when it is dosed and formulated properly as a human medical treatment for COVID, prescribed off-label. The news reports repeatedly call ivermectin a dangerous drug, implying that all uses of the drug are dangerous, even when taken properly.

Sometimes it is difficult to know whether or not Joe Biden is senile or just dumb. I know it’s tempting to ascribe everything he does to his dementia, but he’s been stupid for his whole life. Even people suffering from dementia have moments of lucidity, so it’s really impossible to know what is the true motivation behind the President’s asininity. The effects and the facts of it, however, are easy and important to dissect, because whether it’s due to him losing his grip on reality, that he’s just a very simple and dumb man, or a combination of both doesn’t really matter, what matters is the end result.

Daily coronavirus infections are more than four times what the U.S. was seeing on Labor Day last year, or a 316% increase, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. Even as workers have been more industrious — helping drive corporate profits, the stock market and CEO compensation to record heights — their pay has flatlined, or even declined when factoring
