President Joe Biden’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan has put a spotlight back on the controversial waiver Congress used to confirm the nomination of now-Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.Austin has come under fire for his admission this week that the United States military does not have the capability to help the thousands of Americans stranded outside the Kabul, Afghanistan, airport.Austin said, “We don’t have the capability to go out and collect up large numbers of people.”Austin’s involvement in the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan follows as Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN), the chairman of the Republican Study Committee (RSC), urged Republicans in January to vote against Austin’s waiver

For a POTUS to choose cabinet secretaries for any other reason than their professional competencies in their chosen fields is a huge mistake.
Tragically, Every. Single. One. of Biden's cabinet secretaries, including Lloyd Austin, were chosen for every other reason than their professional competency. Lloyd Austin is simply the first among them to be thoroughly exposed by his own incompetency, but the rest are already working on their own utterly failed legacies.
Which brings us to today.

“We don’t have the capability to go out and collect up large numbers of people.” It appears the British have the capability to do so.

Apparently, this President and the Democrats do NOT subscribe to the historic American imperative to "leave no American behind". Duly noted.

A true leader, when faced with unanticipated adversity, rises to the occasion, and usually in direct proportion to the scale of the adversity...think, Dunkirk and the Berlin Airlift. In both of those cases, no one had the capability to pull off those rescues, so they created the needed capability with what they had on hand.
A surrender monkey will respond like Lloyd Austin: "We don’t have the capability to go out and collect up large numbers of people," even while we are looking at a photo of 640 refugees crammed onto a single flight of a Hercules transport plane.
We don't have the capability because Lloyd Austin couldn't be bothered to create the capability.

Real leadership would admit this went bad, but now most of the Taliban are in one place and we will wipe them out. This incompetent group surrenders and goes in hiding.

Not a fan of the Secretary. I’m ashamed I didn’t understand his status as an AA hire.
However, in reading some about the Americans stranded, I’m not sure how State would have a definite number of Americans that need rescuing. Let alone know their location(s).
I’ve traveled overseas and never registered with our embassy.
There are many Afghans visiting relatives; some are business owners/workers.
Unless there was protocol to register with the embassy, how would the embassy staff know they are there and need help?

cmon man for godssakes he is drafting a new mask mandate for anyone managing to get to the airport and on a plane! A whole diversity committee has been formed to review the mandate for any discrimination against physical, sexual, religious, or feeeeeeelings concerns and will be issuing recommendations in the coming weeks before the airlift can continue

This is the false flag op we have all suspected to be launched to cover up the Maricopa audit results.

This is dumbest most heartless thing this coward could say? I hope one day in Austin's life he extends a hand asking for help. I would respond, "sorry pal I feel for you but I can't reach you".
If these stranded Americans were the proper race of people (illegals) or Muslims they would be rescued. This is sickening to hear a person who can influence or do something say this makes me know we are all on our own we have no government or military leaders they are all disgusting chumps.

Like most other affirmative action hires, not qualified for the job, and when the chips are down, the job doesn't get done, or is done incompetently.

Austin is an Obama made seemingly incompetent General. Apparently Austin was awarded the Silver Star medal for performing General Officer duties during the Obama era. The Silver Star medal is a high decoration for demonstrated valor on the battlefield that has traditionally been awarded to front line troops who were in direct contact with the enemy at the time their heroic act occurred. Soldiers who have been awarded the Silver Star award for performing General Officer duties are as rare as hen’s teeth in the Army. What does that tell you? The wimpy Republicans knew that when the voted to confirm Austin as Biden’ Secretary of Defense.

Lloyd Austin has no business being Secretary of Defense. Another Obama/Biden put-up job.

Austin is nothing more than an "Affirmative Action" Secretary of Defense with a hijacked Silver Star for which he did not a damn thing! like Obama because of the color of his skin, he's been pushed along the road to the success which he did not deserve.

There is absolutely NO lack of capability to rescue people. There is the lack of intent, lack of caring. The Brits are doing it, and our yellow coward officers in charge are doing what they are told, which is NOTHING to save anyone. The names of the officers in charge need to be publicly known so that they can be treated like the cowards that they are when they come back.
If anyone is in contact with a family member in Kabul in the military, it would be good to have the names of the Cowards in Charge on the US side known publicly.
