National security adviser Jake Sullivan confirmed the Taliban has seized a “fair amount” of U.S. military equipment in Afghanistan Tuesday, adding that the U.S. is unsure where much of the material has gone.President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan left billions of dollars worth of firearms, vehicles and other military equipment in the hands of the Taliban. The “defense material” was intended for use by the Afghan government, but its military dissolved in the face of Taliban aggression in a matter of days. (Tweet/Video)

I think that a correct figure is all the US Military equipment, except that is currently on Kabul Airport behind the US Military lines, is now in the hands of the Taliban, as you can safely bet that the Taliban knew exactly where all that equipment was located before they made their move. Notice that recent photographs of groups of Taliban fighters show about half of them armed with USmade M-4 and M-16 Rifles that look pretty new. That should tell you something!

The Chinese and the Russians will have a field day over this. A smorgasbord of high tech military goodies handed to them without a fight nor through political bribery. It's almost like Christmas came in August for them.

The training that we gave to these seventh century barbarians is a bigger problem than mere weapons.

And representatives of China and Russia will be purchasing and shipping home samples of ALL of the interesting weapons systems, you can be certain.
The only question is whether they pre-paid for their "Hunter paintings" or will be purchasing them soon.

Strange. To these communists if I own a dozen rifles I have an arsenal and it should be confiscated, but thousands of rifles given to our enemies is a fair amount. I want a fair amount!

The disposal of the weapons was all part of the evacuation plan. Oops, Biden didn't follow the evac plan. Kinda like Obama's "Fast and Furious" disposal of firearms to the Cartels. Deja vu.

Not only our weapons, but I believe I read they have our fighter jets, tanks and helicopters.
It's like giving a killer your gun.
My question is WHY?

I watched part of Sullivan’s briefing yesterday and was struck by what a weak, feminized wimp he is. I can’t imagine anyone thinking he’s qualified to opine on the security of anything. A strong wind would blow him over.

CNN, of all outlets, was showing a picture of a large gathering of Taliban and every third rifle being carried was of US origin. The US Military screwed up big time on leaving our equipment there to be used against us.

Why is this such a seemingly surprise fact to everyone?? Of course they have our weapons...we supplied them to the Afgan military who don't exist anymore. We weren't going to destroy everything before we withdrew since at the time it was thought the Afgan military would fight. So yes the tally-ban will use those left behind weapons. Army's do that. The Wehrmacht used captured Russian weapons all the time during WW2.

A fair amount? Laughing loudly! Many people will die from American weapons but they won't be in American hands.
I don't believe in all of the conflicts the U.S. has been in was there ever this much left to the enemy without fighting to keep it.
This is a dumpster fire level of disaster. This bug out by the CIC was not thought out at all. It was going to be a celebration to thumb Americans in the eye on 9-11 that's the only reason that date was chosen. Now the Taliban are dancing and celebrating in the American embassy on 9-11. I expect maybe a Benghazi style celebration on this date for more celebration. By the way these are not movie critics like at Benghazi this is the new and improved Taliban with American arms.

Iran is still flying a few of the F-14 fighters that they bought under the Shah about 35-40 years ago. They bought something like 80, and claim to still have 24 that fly, probably the rest cannibalized for parts. We spent a great deal of effort preventing their shell companies from purchasing parts here that could be used to keep them flying, but they have worked hard at keeping them going.
The Taliban could be flying and fighting with US equipment for a long time.
Frankly, I am more concerned about the training that we stupidly gave to Afghanis than the equipment. It was very stupid to train these people, extremely stupid. I see signs of skilled weapons handling in photos of the Taliban that you never saw in other third world stinkholes before. The incompetence of third world fighters was one of their biggest weaknesses. Now we have addressed that for the Taliban. Exceptionally stupid.
