Teachers from states banning mask mandates
are speaking out. Here's what
they want you to know

Teachers are already struggling to do their job during a pandemic. But it's worse for those working in states where mask mandates are prohibited. Some fear students who aren't eligible for vaccines may die. Others worry about having to enforce social distancing. Or they worry about bringing the virus home to family.

Comments:

I am a teacher in one of these states, if these folks are that worried about Covid, they can wear a mask, get the vaccine, or quit. I have a hard time breathing and talking while teaching with a mask, I just want to do my job and be able to breathe at the same time!

I have teachers in my family...from my husband who was Full Professor at 4 yr campus 40 yrs, and owned his own business, then teachers in jr high and elementary. The young set is just plain spoiled. We have over petted them. They feel so abused. When in a group at a private setting they talk about the kids, their parents in a not so nice way. They don't work the few days they are required. There are, of course, excellent teachers. However, these days they are few and far between. And IF they belong to a union--forget about it! And frankly, they know very little!! They are not the smartest people in the room. Oh they know how do the things that the kids don't need...I am so disgusted with these whiny, snotty, authoritarian so called teachers. Enough!

Not only are they not the smartest one in the room, often they are the dumbest. Education majors are really not college material. They are too lazy or stupid to get into Schools of Engineering, Business, or Arts and Sciences.

So wear a mask if you want to. Parents can have their kids wear a mask if they want to. Why is this so hard to comprehend?

A few governors have banned mask mandates for schools but have they banned the use of masks in schools? If teachers and students want to wear a mask while in school, are they allowed to? And if they're allowed to wear a mask, then wear one. As for the students, it is the parents who have the right to decide what is best for their child's health.

Students are a far less risk from this virus than they were from any of the annual flu viruses over the last 10 or 20 years. Why none of this faux concern then? These teachers are either pathetically ill informed or disinformed, or are entirely disingenuous in their "concerns". Is the threat to the students from the ChiCom virus zero? No. But it is far lower than many other threats that are totally ignored and have been for decades. Just stop with the fake concern.

Sure the teachers want to make a big issue. They got a whole year off with pay while the parents did their work. Putting a rag on a kids face that collects nasty stuff only to be taken back into the body with the next breath is really a healthy thing to do.

I have a hard time hearing and understanding what masked people are saying. I keep asking them to repeat, but most students won't. That means even dumber students moving from grade to grade to damaging a whole society due to ignorance related to things they should have learned in school. Many students are already a minimum of two years behind. Remember the wonk-wonk teacher in the Charlie Brown cartoons? On steroids with mask-wearing teachers. Take your kids out of public school! I'm already planning to support my children with homeschooling my grandchildren (if they ever get married and have children).

Oh, OK. Hey, how about if each student puts their mask on the teacher's desk as they file out of the room. Would that be OK? Bc, they're on the kids' faces! So if that's just fine, then putting them on your disk should be fine. Right?

What masks work at: Stopping large particles such as droplets from coughs, sneezes, or talking spray which is useful in hospital settings during surgery. If you are coughing or sneezing or have other symptoms, stay home. EVERYone will understand. Educate people about the symptoms; ditch the masks. What they don't work at: Virusses in aerosols. Or stopping you from getting something that is everywhere. Back in July of 2020, the CDC contacted people who tested positive and asked them a barrage of questions about their behavior, etc. 84% of those testing positive wore masks all or most of the time. Other studies showed mask compliance at about 85%. If masks worked, at all, fewer than those 85% mask wearers would have tested positive. In combination, this is proof, real world proof, that masks made no difference. And, by the way, neither do those untested plexy shields or your silly social distancing. Sunlight and fresh air do. Being in a room with an infected person for 8 - 30 minutes is the best way to get sick if you are susceptible... and won't matter if you aren't.

The chief judge in DC's federal court questioned the Justice Department's decision to offer misdemeanor plea deals to nonviolent US Capitol rioters, saying at a hearing Thursday that the relatively light punishment might not be enough to deter similar attacks in the future. "Does the government have any concern ... of the defendant joining a mob, breaking into the Capitol building" in the future, and "terrorizing members of Congress, the vice president, who had to be evacuated," Chief Judge Beryl Howell asked prosecutors during the plea hearing.

President Joe Biden will remain hidden at his presidential retreat at Camp David through Monday, according to the White House, as the Taliban swiftly seized control of Afghanistan. The president’s daily guidance for Monday indicated Biden would remain at Camp David for at least one more day, with no public events scheduled. But a senior administration official indicated to reporters Sunday evening that Biden might address the country “in the next few days,” according to reports. It remains unclear whether Biden will speak from Camp David or return to the White House to deliver his speech, the reports noted. He was previously scheduled to remain at Camp David until Wednesday.

John R. Bolton says the calamitous U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan will go down in history as “the Trump-Biden policy.” Mr. Bolton, who served as former President Trump’s national security adviser, said in a Daily Telegraph op-ed that Mr. Biden’s approach to withdrawing troops from Afghanistan was “virtually indistinguishable from Donald Trump’s.” The former adviser, though, said Mr. Biden’s insistence that Mr. Trump left him with only two bad options—“follow Trump’s blueprint or else considerably increase US combat forces in Afghanistan”—is a “strawman argument” and “palpably false.” Mr. Bolton, who has been an outspoken Trump critic since he was pushed out of the White House

Chief White House medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci said Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that the vaccine-hesitant should “put aside” their concerns about personal liberty and recognize the “common enemy” is the COVID-19 pandemic. Fauci said, “What’s coming next is that we are going to have to continue to get people vaccinated so that right now, even in states in which you have a good relative proportion of people vaccinated, you have to get the overwhelming proportion of people vaccinated. But you also have to do mitigation. And that gets to the controversial issue of mask-wearing and the mandating of things mandating of vaccines,

Actor and activist George Takei on Sunday said that the “willfully unvaccinated” who refuse to be inoculated against coronavirus should be last in line for priority care. “The willfully unvaccinated who wind up in hospitals from Covid should not receive priority medical care over other very sick or injured people who are as much in urgent need of medical care,” the actor known as Lieutenant Sulu for his years on “Star Trek” said on Twitter. He followed that with, “Anti-vaxxers think they are owning us liberals by refusing to get vaccinated. But as the kids say, this is an epic self-own.”

What will it take for Joe Biden to admit he is disastrously wrong about Afghanistan? The US leader struck a defiant pose last week. Sounding like a slightly desperate Olympics coach, he told Afghans it was their country. If they want it, they have to fight for it. In American politics-speak, this is called tough love. Without the love. Biden has more hands-on foreign policy experience than any president since George HW Bush. That doesn’t mean he knows what he’s doing. Opinion polls suggest his abrupt Afghan withdrawal has majority public support. That doesn’t mean Americans will remain indifferent as the carnage and misery mount.

As the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack looms, the National September 11 Memorial & Museum is crying poverty for the second year in a row. This time, it says it can’t afford to mount special exhibitions planned to mark the two-decade milestone. In 2020, the twin-beam “Tribute in Light” was canceled only to win a last-minute reprieve after soon-to-be-ex Gov. Cuomo pitched in state resources. But no such bailout appears in the offing this time. In fact, this year, the museum is shamefully restricting the reading-of-the-names ceremony exclusively to the families of 9/11 victims. No hero firefighters, cops, first responders or emergency workers,
