Former CIA Director and retired Army general David Petraeus called the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan "disastrous" and "catastrophic" -- not only for the U.S. but the world, in a Friday interview. "This is an enormous national security setback and it is on the verge of getting much worse unless we decide to take really significant action," Petraeus told host Rita Cosby on "The Rita Cosby Show" on WABC Radio. The former commander of U.S. and International Forces in Afghanistan described the domino effect that occurred once the U.S. pulled the bulk of its remaining troops out of the nation. The U.S. withdrawal prompted the swift removal

Afghanistan is an outstanding example of mission creep. The original mission was to destroy Al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden after the 9/11 attack. When this was not accomplished immediately, “nation building” was added. Even after Osama bin Laden was killed, the military and politicians still tried to rebuild Afghanistan. After 20 years, a lot of good soldiers and treasure have been spent on this fools mission.

Petraeus is a phony military genius who championed principles outlined in a field manual he didn't even write. His idea of operations was to put our enemies in charge and when it went south, we had to mount more combat ops to solve the problems his enlightened crap started. I wish he'd just shut up.

General Betryus you remember that back stabbing stooge he supported fraud Biden. Who cares what Petraeus has to say about this? The action that can work right now is get the Taliban in Kabul then nuke the whole place like Hiroshima into dust. This is a disaster that can't be un-disastered. The damage is done no sense to point fingers at fraud Biden because he doesn't know he did it or maybe never will know.

The only question is how long should the US have occupied "free" Afghanistan. How long? Forever? It was 20 years of blood and treasure invested to no ultimate result, as we now see. "Freedom loving" Afghans are in short supply to fight the Taliban. And we owe them anything? Uh, no.

I have never, personally, served in combat. Neither has Petraeus. Afghanistan, a barbaric, backward country perfectly suited for islam, was never a winnable war. And to make it even worse, we sent generals like McChrystal, more of a social worker than a warrior. And how many of our troops were shot and killed by the government troops they were training?

If they let US run away, then the massacre will be only among their own tribes. Taiwan, are you watching? Our Woke military is only good to imprison political dissidents.

This afternoon, Joe Biden tried to defend not only his decision to pull out of Afghanistan, but also the way his team carried it out. As to the former, Biden said, “American troops cannot and should not be fighting in a war and dying in a war that Afghan forces are not willing to fight for themselves.” But Afghans were willing to fight against the Taliban and to die doing so. That’s why the Taliban was never able to take over major population centers, not even when the U.S. force diminished to somewhere between 2,500-3,500. All they required of us was that we maintain something like that level of commitment.

One of my first reactions to the fall of Kabul over the weekend was concern about what this would communicate to our other allies and enemies. It’s hard to look at our abandonment of allies in Afghanistan and not conclude this is bad news for a place like Taiwan which is dependent on the US for its continued freedom. As you’re probably aware, China’s Xi Jinping has recently vowed to reunify Taiwan by any means necessary. “Solving the Taiwan question and realising the complete reunification of the motherland are the unswerving historical tasks of the Chinese Communist Party and the common aspiration of all Chinese people,” Xi said.

President Biden defended his decision to withdraw American forces from Afghanistan during an address to the nation delivered Monday, one day after the Taliban routed government forces and took over the capital city of Kabul. “I stand squarely behind my decision,” he said. “After 20 years, I’ve learned the hard way that there was never a good time to withdraw U.S. forces. That’s why we’re still there, we were clear-eyed about the risks, we planned for every contingency. But I always promised the American people I would be straight with you.” “The truth is, this did unfold more quickly than we had anticipated,” he added. While he had argued for months

President Biden is scheduled to return to the White House from the Camp David retreat Monday afternoon to comment on the deteriorating crisis in Afghanistan. Biden will deliver remarks at 3:45 p.m. from the East Room, he tweeted Monday. The president released a statement Saturday reiterating his commitment to end the decades-long conflict in Afghanistan despite the Taliban’s rapid resurgence and recent military conquests. “I was the fourth President to preside over an American troop presence in Afghanistan—two Republicans, two Democrats. I would not, and will not, pass this war onto a fifth,” he commented. Since that press notice, the Taliban has toppled all major provincial capitals and cities in the territory.

Sheer cowardice has always been a Biden hallmark, so it might at first glance seem to be why Joe Biden is now in hiding as Afghanistan's collapse, the biggest foreign policy failure since Vietnam, engulfs the news. But evidence is mounting that something different is going on: the Biden team is splintering into some kind of internal warfare and trying to conceal its disarray. Victory, after all, has a thousand fathers, as JFK used to say, and defeat is an orphan. The Bidenites aren't stupid enough to believe their own propaganda about the Afghan horror being a news-cycle nothingburger,

What will it take for Joe Biden to admit he is disastrously wrong about Afghanistan? The US leader struck a defiant pose last week. Sounding like a slightly desperate Olympics coach, he told Afghans it was their country. If they want it, they have to fight for it. In American politics-speak, this is called tough love. Without the love. Biden has more hands-on foreign policy experience than any president since George HW Bush. That doesn’t mean he knows what he’s doing. Opinion polls suggest his abrupt Afghan withdrawal has majority public support. That doesn’t mean Americans will remain indifferent as the carnage and misery mount.

As the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack looms, the National September 11 Memorial & Museum is crying poverty for the second year in a row. This time, it says it can’t afford to mount special exhibitions planned to mark the two-decade milestone. In 2020, the twin-beam “Tribute in Light” was canceled only to win a last-minute reprieve after soon-to-be-ex Gov. Cuomo pitched in state resources.
