A powerful 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Haiti on Saturday, the U.S. Geological Survey said, and authorities reported multiple deaths. The U.S. Tsunami Warning System temporarily issued a tsunami warning after the quake, which was felt in neighboring countries. "I can confirm that there are deaths, but I don't yet have an exact toll," Jerry Chandler, Haiti's director of civil protection, told AFP. "We're still collecting information." The epicenter of the quake was 7.5 miles northeast of Saint-Louis du Sud, according to the USGS. "High casualties are probable and the disaster is likely widespread," the USGS said.

“Hillary, dear! Time to gear up the old “Clinton Cash Cabal” again. USA money is fixing to start flowing to Haiti again and you already got your diversion infrastructure in place!”

Poor Haiti: Fortunately there are no high buildings in the affected to fall on people, but a tsunami could be a worst case scenario. The people themselves there (apart from any government officials) seem like decent sorts so you have to feel really sorry for them.

I sense a "comeback" for the Clinton Foundation. After all $$$ will pour in from around the world and it can all be laundered through the Clinton Foundation. Chelsea needs a new pair of shoes!

Clinton assets were either not affected or very well insured. No loss either way as they got them for free.

Funny that the Dominican Republic is on the same island and we haven’t heard a problem in Santo Domingo. Funny that.

As for the Haitian people, a cardboard house collapsing on one is very rarely lethal.

1st line of the ABC/Yahoo version of the story...
"At least 29 people were killed in the devastating 7.2 magnitude earthquake that rocked Haiti Saturday morning, which could exacerbate the island's COVID-19 infection rate .."
Even EARTHQUAKES play 2nd fiddle in the Face of COVID!!! Sheesh...

No more US taxpayer money. Let some other player on the world stage assist them. I am sick of paying what we do in taxes to have it pizzed away for every third-world craphole. We have our own issues to solve.
We don't buy goodwill when we help. All that happens is they take our cash, then line up for more handouts for eternity. No more.

My question: How much money do we pay into Haiti before someone asks: How much money do we pay Haiti before saying enough! Where is all this cash going? Why is Haiti always, always on the brink of disaster? The money and food seem to be doing nothing to help.
I'm not happy with the trillions Biden et al are paying themselves, but how about suggesting the Biden's drop in a couple $ Billions before the US coughs up more in 2021? After all, they stole it fair and square from US taxpayers.

Re #12. It's been that way for years. The Dominican Republic is a functional country and relatively prosperous for that area. Lots of tourism, mining, etc. They also make some good cigars. It's puzzled me why Haiti can't at least imitate the DR. The DR is also moving toward representative democracy which has something to do with it. After the French left, Haiti has been ruled by several brutal Kleptocrats like Papa Doc and Baby Doc. I certainly don't have the answer but they do seem to be cursed. And as someone said, hold onto your wallet because this administration will shower them with money and most of it will be promptly stolen.

Re #21.
In the middle 70s, I was acquainted with a fellow college student from the DR. We had a few interesting discussions. One was about Haiti. She became quite adamant against Haiti, saying that the DR had a strong barrier on the border, and would immediately deport any Haitians found in DR. I remember thinking of the barrier that Steve McQueen tried to jump in The Great Escape movie as she described their border fence. I forget her words, but that image persists.
She was an intelligent, interesting and well educated young lady those many years ago. She made it clear that the DR wanted nothing to do with their dysfunctional neighbors. Easy to see why.
