The Senate approved the framework of a $3.5 trillion budget plan in a key procedural vote on Wednesday morning, allowing the body to move towards a final vote on the issue.
Senators voted to advance the framework 50-49 along party lines, with Senator Mike Rounds (R., S.D.) absent. The vote came just before 4 a.m. following a “vote-a-rama,” during which senators introduced amendments for largely symbolic votes designed to test the level of Senate support for various issues.
The plan provides for universal pre-kindergarten, free two-year community college, tax incentives for clean-energy sources to fight climate change, and an expansion of Medicare

Why was Rounds absent? Not that it would have mattered.

For all our sakes, I hope this actually works because if it fails the consequences will be catastrophic. The problem is I don't believe it will work. Not for a second. THEY DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY FOR THIS!!!
What they are doing is paving the way for the largest theft in the history of humanity.
Our government does not belong to us anymore. If it did, they would not be doing this.

Sounds great and paying for it will be easy. Just tax people we don't like, print the rest, inflate away the debt with massive money printing and voila! Free stuff! Yay! Just like every third world s hole that has destroyed their economy doing the same thing.

Fraud in elections. That is the rood cause of this disaster. I think that the ChiComs' plan is to collapse our economy. This should move us a whole lot closer to that goal.
I keep hoping to hear that Schumer had a sudden stroke or other fortunate news for the USA, but no luck.

Allow me to carve out one area to analyze.
Free community college is, on the surface, OK - I have ben a fan of community colleges for a long time, even though I taught at a research university
I predict a whole lot of abuses of the free community college program. Here is why.
The maximum Pell grant is $6,345 for the academic year just ended. Let's round it up to 7000 dollars for the 2021-202 academic year. Also take note that community colleges are open admission, taking in h.s. dropouts.
Then factor in student loans.
A student could enroll at a community college, never go to classes for the first semester, sign up for classes for the second semester, skip all classes, collect 7000 dollars from a Pell grant, plus whatever supplemental grant offered by the state, plus student loan money-
At the end of year one of CC enrollment, the 'student' will get at least 20,000 dollars.
The student, at the end of year one, would be placed on academic probation for year two, but still collect the same amount of money.
States and counties, especially in urban areas, will face enormous costs because of the surges in enrollments.
We are talking about potential costs in the hundreds of billions of dollars Then add in the defaults on student loans, and we are talking about serious money here.
Gibberish Jo doesn't understand the finances involved with community colleges, and, having read his wife's 'dissertation,' I'm certain that she lacks the intelligence to understand the situation.
It is going to be a financial disaster.

They pass this monstrosity and you can kiss your good ol' United States goodbye....I think Jonathan Cahn was correct and that God has removed his protection from this land because we have embraced (at least some) decadence and criminal activity and immorality and have become apostate...it's obvious why you can't post the Ten Commandments in Congress...

I never thought I'd live to see three generations of traditional Americans ducking any responsibility to fight against the loss of our country. Never has there been a set of generations our Boomers, Gen Xers , and Millennials, that go from being forcibly made to risk and lose their lives and limbs to kill communists in Southeast Asia to sitting back griping about the communist ascendency threatening to end our Constitutional Republic a mere fifty years later. Those who hate our country but embrace communist principles and policies, from their political leadership in the democrat party to the leftist street thugs and whiny, pasty white Karens, don't suffer from the inertia of inaction, so they will ultimately be victorious.
