Bobby Bowden did it all. Not only did he put Florida State on the map by taking the Seminoles from afterthought to dynasty, he left an indelible mark on the game with a rare combination of coaching acumen, gracious demeanor and a compassion for those he coached and competed against. The beloved, folksy Hall of Fame coach who built one of the most prolific college football programs in history died early Sunday at 91 at his home in Tallahassee, Florida, surrounded by his wife Ann and their six children following a battle with pancreatic cancer. Bobby’s son, Terry, called his passing “truly peaceful."

Comments:

Sorry to hear this. Not a FSU fan but I can appreciate his coaching legacy. May he rest in peace.

I graduated from FSU, and while he was a great coach, he was an even greater man. I met him twice, but I know of so many people personally and through hearsay that shared stories of his kindness, generosity and compassion in some of their darkest moments. He often called strangers, after hearing about their situation from someone else, just to pray for them. His legacy goes far beyond the football field. Dadgummit, he’ll be missed.

Great coach and person. RIP. As a Canes fan, I have to ask, did they put 'wide right' on his tombstone (as he requested years ago)?

The Gators fought the Florida State College for Women's team for decades....and Bowden did a fine job which irritated us Gators a lot. And we never let them forget their old name, which is the name it had when my MIL attended in the 1940s. But, no personal animus against a great coach for a intrastate football rivalry. It wasn't fun being a supporter of the opposing team, even though we won a lot, we also lost a lot, too. RIP, coach. Well done.

Former congressional candidate Matt Mowers on Friday attacked New Hampshire Democrats for attempting to cancel the state’s motto, “Live Free or Die.” “Following @ChrisPappasNH‘s lead, the Liberals are once again trying to cancel Live Free or Die. Live Free or Die isn’t just a slogan on a license plate — it’s our way of life in the Granite State. We won’t let them cancel New Hampshire,” Mowers wrote about Rep. As word got out that 700+ COVID super shedders were adjusting party hats in preparation for the "44-at-60" ass-kissing-fest on Martha's Vineyard, to quiet critics, Obama announced he was "scaling back" the Obamapalooza to include just "close family and friends." For regular folks like you and me, the words "close family and friends," usually means Grandma, the kids, and a boxed Duncan Hines birthday cake. But not for Shelley and Barry. As seaplanes full of victims of institutional and structural racism descended on Martha's Vineyard, "scaled back," became the most disingenuous parsing of words since "It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is."

We the People wine has produced a viral ad that is so powerfully American it blows almost every single thing the Republican Party has done right out of the water. That is according to political heavy-hitters and viewers who not only sent the video viral, but expressed shock that such an impactful visual display of patriotism didn’t come from people seeking a vote, but from a wine company using their voice to stand for their principles. The advertisement uses a poignant speech from former President Ronald Reagan juxtaposed perfectly with modern clips of the left-wing assault on our cities in the form of riots and demand to defund the police.

When I signed up for the Marines in ’78, I had no clue what I was getting into. I just wanted to get out of my hometown. After a few minutes at bootcamp, I wanted to go back. It was too late. There was only way out now: 13 weeks through a humid, swampy, mosquito-infested chunk of Hell at Parris Island, S.C. – a God-forsaken place where tidal salt marshes breed habitats of pestiferous biting flies. The worst? Blood-sucking sand fleas. Around 1 a.m., the bus carrying about 60 of us parked beside a platoon of yellow footprints at the recruit depot.

Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-DBag) is the Mayor Pete Buttigieg of the Republican Party. If you read his Wikipedia entry, it appears as though he was fashioned and groomed for political office. Not that Wiki is the most credible source, but it’s good for a timeline: and his timeline shows that there was an agenda in mind long before he ran for office. His own Congressional biography and a puff piece by Fox News also confirm the Wiki timeline. Kinzinger followed the “upper crust” trajectory of preparation for political life.

Will the Biden administration use federal funds as a club to convince employers to force employees to get vaccinated? The White House is not denying that the plan is under discussion, but they say no final decision has been reached. Forcing companies to do the government’s dirty work on a vaccine mandate is underhanded, but it’s Biden’s only choice if he thinks everyone needs to get vaccinated. A vaccine mandate has no chance of being successful. There’s a question of who will be targeted by the government. Currently, the discussions are about targeting large institutions like senior care centers and universities, but no industry is safe.

Progressive Democratic Rep. Mike Parson announced that he pardoned Mark and Patricia McCloskey. Mark had pleaded guilty to misdemeanor fourth-degree assault and Patricia pleaded guilty to misdemeanor harassment. The couple had been initially indicted on felony charges.

Looks like Joe Biden has gotten Barack Obama’s tailor. The president became a vision in tan Friday, as he delivered a speech in a suit that online wags couldn’t help but notice looked a lot like the one his predecessor infamously rocked at a press conference seven years ago — and which got him so roasted that it sparked “tan suit gate.” Biden wore the fitted, sand-colored suit with a green tie and an American flag pin on his left lapel while reporting last month’s jobs growth — the same look that Obama wore in 2014 as he also gave an economic speech.
