Pete Holmes concedes Seattle city attorney
race; Thomas-Kennedy, Davison

Seattle City Attorney Pete Holmes conceded on Friday, as he fell further behind his two primary opponents in an election that will bring an end to his 12 years in office. The result will leave Seattle with a clear-cut choice in November between a law-and-order candidate and an abolitionist who wants to halt most misdemeanor prosecutions. (snip) Davison says Holmes has been prosecuting too few misdemeanors (the city attorney does not handle felony offenses), while Thomas-Kennedy says he has been prosecuting far too many.

Comments:

Seattle voters finally woke up and threw out Holmes. Ann Davison will actually start prosecuting suspects!!

If he has been a substantial part of the insanity in Seattle.....good riddance. Serious question, are either of the possible replacements one bit better?

Seattle, like Portland, is a lost cause. The local governments let Antifa and BLM take over. Now they are flailing around looking for a fix. It won’t help until these cities (and voters) get a reality check. No one is interested in them anymore. If the media can’t blame this on Trump the won’t cover it. Welcome to the wilderness.

This little gem of a harbinger was dropped in towards the end of the article. "Left-leaning candidates also picked up big ground in Friday’s count in other citywide races, including those for mayor and City Council Position 9." My money is on the lefty "abolitionist" candidate. Notice how they describe the left-wing Antifa/BLM supporter in terms of the abolitionist movement in order to put a halo around her head? Like she is going to free some more slaves? This reminds me of a Bible verse, Mt. 24, v.2: "And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down." The City of Seattle, once great and prosperous, is on its way to a great fall. I recommend its rational citizens, i.e., those 33% who still believe in good and evil to follow Jesus' further advice to flee, don't even stop to pack your bags, but go now while you still have a chance.

Congratulations, now that your city has been thoroughly burned and looted, you are going to change something. It only took eighteen months. Now you can start advertising all of those open police department positions and hope you get enough suckers to stand there and dodge bricks.

The unique landscape around Seattle was formed by a massive volcano just to the east and a massive underwater earthquake zone to the west. They should stop tempting fates.

When I moved to Seattle in the 90s like everywhere else it had it fair share of problems. Since the WTO Riots the city has been going to hell in a hen-basket. Socialists, leftists, BLM racists and CRT freaks have been running rampant. What happened last year at CHOP is just a taste of crap the city and voters chose. We’re losing good police officers by the hundreds every month. The city has turned into a cesspool of liberal crap the likes of Portland. So glad I moved out of the city to the southend where you see Trump flags and decals on cars. Seattle is a lost cause. Idaho, Montana and Arizona are looking pretty good for my retirement years. I once was a middle of the road kinda guy and all this crud has shown me why conservative values and candidates are the way to go. Law and order NOW.

Safety concerns over the scene in and around the King County Courthouse in downtown Seattle have increased in recent weeks. COVID mandates resulted in nearly 150 Seattle businesses permanently closing. But as the Seattle economy finally reopens, residents and tourists have a new retail outlet to buy clothing and alcohol. It’s a few blocks away from Pike Place Market, occupying prime real estate near Sub Pop Records and trendy restaurants Serious Pie and Shaker + Spear. But there’s a problem: It’s an illegal bazaar appealing mostly to homeless people. It sells what appears to be stolen goods. And the city hasn’t done anything about it yet. (snip) The Mayor’s Office ignored questions on whether or not they supported efforts to remove the bazaar from the sidewalk.

At least twice in recent years, Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan’s administration rejected budget proposals to improve the city’s handling and preservation of text messages, shooting down detailed plans that staff said could help employees comply with state law and save the city from costly penalties for destroying public records. Now the mayor and other high-ranking officials are embroiled in controversy over months’ worth of texts that have been deleted, including messages exchanged during the tumultuous weeks last June when Seattle police tear-gassed racial justice demonstrators and abandoned the city’s East Precinct station.

The Seattle Times filed a lawsuit Thursday alleging that the city of Seattle mishandled requests from reporters for officials’ text messages during a tumultuous period last summer when police abandoned the East Precinct and used tear gas on protesters. One of the most effective ways for the MSM to shut down an inquiry into misconduct is to say it is all a conspiracy theory. Besides avoiding an unwanted discussion, the charge also invites scrutiny of the "theorist" instead of the issue itself. Notice how quickly some even start off saying something like "I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but..." Expecting their reaction, we have become almost trained to do this. But are there really no big conspiracies? It has been claimed that the phrase "conspiracy theory" was invented by the government to discourage the questioning of official explanations for important events, especially the JFK assassination.
