“Stars — they’re just like us!” Us Weekly has been insisting for nearly 20 years in its popular feature.
But the truth is, when a glittering Hollywood actor descends from Mount Olympus to mingle with us normals, it’s an unbearably strenuous experience for them that they cannot shut up about.
A-listers desperately need you to know that they are about as much like us as a pile of diamonds on a private beach in Fiji is.
Matt Damon is the latest offender, taking on the part of a plaid-loving Oklahoma oil rig worker in the new movie “Stillwater,” out Friday. When it premiered this month at the Cannes Film ,
They don't sound like morons. They ARE morons. Their one and only talent is being something they aren't. In other words, they are paid handsomely to lie, which is why they and politicians go so well together.

The portrayal of your average American family as it portrayed on the show The Conners, is an absolute insult to the average American. We're poor, uneducated, and live like we're in the depression.

At their cores, Hollywood actors are show-offs who get paid to be the centers of attention. Some are actually talented but without wisdom they are bores when they show off privately. Hollywood is another PR arm of the Democratic Party and the celebrities who are force-fed to audiences have to bend the knee to their masters or face obscurity which is their version of hell.

FTA: “ As Damon is now the Dr. Jane Goodall of Midwesterners, he would know better than the actual people.”
Loved this analogy. So perfect for such an arrogant fool.

If I ever have the need for the opinions of someone who plays pretend every day, I will ask a pre-schooler.

Who's Matt Damon and do I really care what some Hollywood yahoo has to say about people or life in another part of the country which they never visit except when "on location".

Not too crazy about Matt Damon and I'm gonna sound like I'm defending him, but Jimmie Tramel of the Tulsa World DID write an article on July 29 praising how Damon managed to nail the accent and demeanor of an Oklahoma oil worker, so he must have some talent

Still think Damon's a jerk though

Sorry for the double post: But a whole lot of Sooners would dispute Oklahoma is a Midwestern state, too.
(love that line about Damon being the Dr. Jane Goodall of Midwesterners, though)

The Oklahoma oil field industry is comprised of many tiers of effort to extract an essential fluid to benefit society. Real history is told in reading Children of the Flower Moon. From a landman to a mud engineer ( yeah, they got them to take viscosity and weights of drilling fluids to tell the poor jerk in the mud shack how much Basco to throw in the hopper as the water is on the way to the downhole). Up around Stillwater and Southeast Kansas, we called those wells post holes. More of a pain to separate water from oil by means of a tank battery. They should probably have based their movie out
of Elk City where your TD (total depth) is 14,000 ft.
Most wells (that are still producing as stripper wells) up near Stillwater are no deeper than 1,500 ft.
All that being typed ( just establishing my bona fides), I would point to HolyWood's prosthetising the Erin Brockovich story about Kerr-McGee. They've been at it since Giant and they warned us that There's No Coüntry For Old Men
Lettem' freeze in the dark or have a Tesla incineration.
