When shame kills: why do so

forced to murder their babies?

Mbeubeuss is one of the biggest rubbish tips in Africa and Senegal’s largest open cemetery for murdered children. In the past three years, the bodies of 32 infants have been recovered from the site by the waste-pickers who work there. Looking at the high rate of infanticide in Senegal, it seems the main reasons for it are shame about pregnancy outside marriage and a loss of traditional support for young women. Religious conservatism, economic hardship and a lack of access to contraception and sex education in Senegal are leaving many women I talk to feeling isolated. In the past, girls could turn to la Badiane

Comments:

All cultures are equal. But when an oppressed segment does something abhorrent, there are always outside forces at fault. Here, religious conservatism is to blame, along with a subtest that a lack of foreign aid makes contraceptives unaffordable. Sensible abstinence among unmarried people who cannot support themselves is, of course, out of the question.

Sensible abstinence is not even a thing in most African countries. Women have no rights there. If ever there was a place for pro-life people, this is it. Put your time and energy and money into seeing what you can do to help these women.

32 in 3 years. Compare that to the number of abortions in our "superior" culture in three years.

This being the Guardian, the author's search for root causes completely missed the fact that Fatima is a Muslim who was raped by her religious leader and would never think of dropping her baby off at the Catholic orphanage (if she knew about it). Rather her baby be dead than raised by infidels. Which begs the question. Where is the Muslim orphanage in Sengal?

The Pro-Life movement is world-wide and the movement in Africa is heavily supported by American and European Pro-Lifers. Why in the world are we interested in the plight of citizens in Senegal? Are there not Senegalese politicians who can help their own people? Are we to be responsible for everyone and everything? What kind of fresh hell is this?

The sanctimonious western progressives would suggest that the system should be made more civilized and be brought into the 21st century and have the infanticide murders committed legally in clinics and surgeries and the "products of conception" be made available for sale to medical researchers.
