WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-New York, blamed Democratic leadership for allowing the nation's eviction moratorium to expire and said the White House wasn't being "forthright" about its desire for Congress to act until it was too late. The Democratic-controlled House adjourned Friday without extending the moratorium that was put in place to help renters amid the coronavirus pandemic. It expired Sunday, leaving progressive Democrats like Ocasio-Cortez outraged and demanding that the House return from its August recess. Ocasio-Cortez said House Democratic leadership had an opportunity to hold a vote on extending the moratorium last week, but "there was frankly

It is no surprise that AOC has sided with the deadbeats. In her Utopian society, all are fed, clothed, and housed whether or not they want to work.

I do not want it to be my job to worry about someone else paying their rent.

A pathetic, pandering, and demanding barmaid. What have we become with pitiful progressives holding the bluffing hand full of racist and sexist cards?

Once upon a time, people invested in income property or rented their own homes while way. People built townhouses, condos, trailer parks, apartment buildings for the income.
After the past year and a half, owning income propert is a risky business. You can't turn to the courts to get your property back and being reimbursed for lost income isn't possible.
A very bad precedent has been set.. i expect the next economic downturn will result in similar policies. The short term consequences will be higher rents, bigger deposits and a higher bar to renting. People who work in the service industry or retail may find it more difficult to get qualified.
I own a second home for my elderly mother. When her time comes, I will have to decide to either rent it out or sell it. After the last year. Renting looks like a risky proposition.
Here's the bad part. Many of these people were collecting enhanced benefits and could have paid their rent or mortgages. Thevotger issue is that there are more job openings than unemployed to fill them. I just drovec1400 miles and everywhere I went, I saw signs for job openings.
There is no excuse.....and the only people hurt were the property owners.

Here's the solution: Start a non-profit to help people pay the rent. People can chose to donate. AOC can then help people pay the rent.

Pay your damned rent! No sympathy. Millions of jobs going wanting and these lazy slugs laying back and not paying what they owe for rent or mortgage.
Eviction should have happened long ago.

I've seen no news reports, but on the local "oldies" radio station I've heard several airings of a PSA about the ending of the rent "moratorium". A friendly female voice begins with a message about the change in policy and that rents, including past-due months, must now be paid. But, fear not! The State of California will pay your current rent, plus all back rent! Just call this 1-800 number to sign up!
The first time I heard it, I thought it was joke, like Shanklin used to do on Rush. I have heard it several time since. Its for real. My disgust for our overloads in the regional imperial city of Swampamento knows no bounds.
Free California! Free America! - It just means something entirely different to the commies.

I used to think that AOC had about 6 working brain cells.
I clearly over-estimated that number by at least 4 working brain cells!!!

Demand away sweetheart. The high dollar Democrat donors are tired of paying the way for deadbeats who don’t work or pay their bills. Paying woke lip service to social causes is all well and good but at the end of the day it ain’t about that. Wise up.

The longer the eviction moratorium remained in place the worse it would be for people who stopped paying their mortgages and rent.

Joe and Kamala live in taxpayer-funded housing. Why would they care about evictions?

I resent paying her salary. Chica knows nothing about nothing.
Where is all of the unemployment, child credits, stimulus checks these people received ? It pays to stay home while businesses can't find help.

I'm sure more than a few Democrat donors are slumlords and wanted the moratorium to end.
