WASHINGTON -- First lady Jill Biden underwent a medical procedure Thursday to flush out debris from a puncture wound on her left foot, her spokesperson said.
Michael LaRosa said Jill Biden's foot was punctured while she walking on a beach in Hawaii last weekend, but it was "unclear what object caused the puncture."
After the procedure at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, LaRosa said, "The wound is now clean, free of infection and it is anticipated that it will heal nicely."
President Joe Biden joined his wife at Walter Reed for the procedure. The Bidens returned to the White House Thursday night.

Border officers are releasing illegal immigrants who test positive for COVID-19 to a nonprofit organization, Texas authorities said this week.
The immigrants were handed over to the Catholic Charities of The Rio Grande Valley, which arranged for their stay in a La Joya, Texas, hotel that it had rented out entirely, La Joya police officials said.
“We did not know this. No one told the city of La Joya. No one told the police department that these people were here. And no one told us that these people were possibly ill,” La Joya Sgt. Manuel Casas told reporters at a July 27 press conference.
Volunteers who served at a detention facility for underaged illegal aliens blew the whistle on Wednesday about an alleged plot to cover up the true number of cases of coronavirus among the detainees after an outbreak, as reported by the New York Post.
The claims were made in a filing by the Government Accountability Project, a nonprofit watchdog group; the two whistleblowers were Arthur Pearlstein and Lauren Reinhold, described by the filing as “career federal civil servants” who had been volunteering at the detention facility in Fort Bliss, Texas from the months of April to June.

Authorities in La Joya, Texas discovered Tuesday that a significant number of illegal aliens are staying in hotel rooms provided to them by charities, and were actively infecting other people with the coronavirus in fast food restaurants and other locations, as reported by Fox News.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) says President Joe Biden doesn’t have the legal authority to forgive federal student loans, in what appears to be a disagreement with other top Democrats.
For months, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) has issued near-daily tweets insisting that Biden forgive all student loans.
But during a weekly press conference on July 28, Pelosi said Biden can only pause or delay student loan payments and can’t unilaterally cancel them.
“He can postpone, he can delay, but he does not have that power,” Pelosi told reporters. “That would best be an act of Congress.”

Joe Biden spoke briefly from the White House today to reporters to announce a vaccination-or-masking requirement for federal workers, along with other steps to spur vaccinations.
He said that civilian federal employees will be required to “attest” that they have been vaccinated. If not, then they would have to submit to regular COVID-19 testing and masking guidelines, with restrictions on their travel. The White House also said they would be encouraging localities to provide $100 to newly vaccinated individuals using leftover COVID-19 relief funds, according to information they released today.
