The Olympics opening ceremonies in Tokyo featured one of the worst pop songs of all time: Yes, I’m speaking of John Lennon’s “Imagine,” sung by a large children’s choir and a bevy of celebrities. As a fan of the Beatles and Lennon especially, it pains me to say this, but it’s true: While its melody and arrangement are indeed beautiful, the lyrics are an invitation to moral and political chaos.Consider the opening verse: “Imagine there’s no heaven / It’s easy if you try / No hell below us, above us only sky / Imagine all the people livin’ for today.” I frankly can’t imagine anything worse.

What makes “Imagine” the theme song of hypocrites is the line “Imagine no possessions” being written by one of the wealthiest men in the world.

Knowing that Cornelius the composer resigned for obvious reasons prior to the ceremony
is equally as bad in my mind--use to preform with Ono.

Rush went over this piece of socialist tripe years ago. Basically, it's about the beauty of anarchy. Well, I think we've seen quite enough of how well THAT's worked out, yeah? Ask anyone who lives in Portland or Minneapolis or New York or Chicago or any other Commucrat city. I don't know why people revere Lennon....McCartney actually wrote most of the songs, even though Lennon got equal credit, and his own stuff was mediocre and got worse after being infected by Yoko Oh-no.

I'm sure Lennon is now a wiser, less hypocritical, yet tormented soul. The devil laughs at these ignorants. The really sad terrible thing is God laughs too. Imagine no heaven or hell. It's best not.

Lennon's inspiration for the lyrics was The Communist Manifesto. Another rich musician who pushes this crap is Roger Waters of the Pink Floyd. Roger also happens to be an anti-semite, How is it that rich people like to preach about how to live? Being a Communist/Socialist is very similar to being an ant, a bee, a termite. You live to work for others but have no individual soul, or dreams, or identity. You are a faceless automaton who works to support the elites.

I found it amusing that Lennon could write “Imagine” while living at The Dakotah, one of the priciest condos in NYC.

I first heard this song when I was young and liberal and stupid. Hated it then. On the other hand, maybe it helped open my eyes - I really did try to imagine those things and their consequences.

It should have been followed by Ono Yoko's primal scream album to show the result of totalitarianism. That would have fixed that junk song. The social justice knee taker warriors must have enjoyed that little tidbit it was right up their alley. I guess Strawberry Fields Forever was not available because of copyrights. Give me a break you commie heathens.

In 1972, at my high school graduation, our class advisor who was a teacher made us sing this song. We sung it like we were all going to the gas chamber. Looking out into the audience, all I saw was my father a WWII veteran, along with my mother who was the organist at our church for 28 years. The words were a slap in the face of what they believed in and fought for. It was not the highlight of the evening. Since then, hearing that idiot song makes me ill, and angry at the same time. What I wouldn't give to be able to go back in time, and say HELL NO we're not singing this POS song.

I am sitting here with my newborn, week old granddaughter and reading this makes me remember when my daughter was 5 years old and the Disney cartoon Pocahontas came out. The theme song “Colors of the Wind” was a hit on the radio and one of the other mothers in the neighborhood commented to me on what a beautiful song it was. I was dumbstruck and asked if she had actually listened to the lyrics and she said no, but the melody was lovely. I told her that it was a terrible song and she should go listen to the words. That movie was never allowed in our house and our daughter never had any of the affiliated Disney products.
If you don’t remember it, look up the lyrics. It sounds like an Indian (I refuse to use the term “Native American”) version of CRT.

He could have given away ALL HIS possessions & money to help 'that brotherhood of man" but he didn't do that did he? Then the left glommed onto it & have used it as a battering ram to push their agenda.

Every utopian scheme like the one described in Imagine has ended in terror, loss of basic human rights, and mass killings and imprisonment of people with dissenting views.

It is a POS song. A marxist stoner dream. Nothing in it is real. Not sure why people some even on the right like it and glorify it.
Total garbage.
