A report published by Outside Interactive alleged that America’s historically racist policies have contributed to “the nature gap,” resulting in black Americans having less enjoyment of the so-called “great outdoors.”Erin Key, the report’s author, is pushing for minorities to use their free time outdoors in nature through the use of grants and advocacy work. She does not, however, mention that there are no modern laws prohibiting non-whites from visiting public nature sites.“Though many don’t like to speak about it, so many of our living relatives experienced racism when it was legal —

Ya, water is def Racist, that is why so few darker folks know how to swim.(The author must be a city person, out in the country everyone spends a LOT of time outdoors, every shade and hue)

In some cities if they go outside they stand a good chance of getting shot. Oh, wait. If they stay inside in those same neighborhoods the also stand a good chance of getting shot. These people are so pathetic. It must suck to be them.

And here I thought I was going to end the day without reading something idiotic. On the good side, it may indicate they are running out of things to throw at the wall. This one sure as heck didn't stick.

Over the years whenever we could, my wife and I have made it a point to visit D.C. for cherry blossoms - even when the Kenyan was infesting the People's House. One thing we noticed was that in 50% black D.C. there were hardly any to be seen at the Tidal Basin. There were plenty of Asians - Japanese (obviously) , Indians. But no blacks. Surely neither money nor law prevents them.

Look, let me explain something about black people.
When they go on vacation, they don't "rough it". They don't hike The Appalachin Trail. Or visit Antietam on a 92 degree day. Or camp out in a tent in Daniel Boone National Forest. Or trapse along on a 22 mile trail in Grand Teton.
Black people don't do that. They go on cruises. Or visit a city. Or a beach. They do not go places to exert themselves more physically or experience rugged discomfort. That is a WHITE thing.

I have been backpacking in wild country in the Rockies and the Great Smokey Mountains since the early '70s, and visited several dozen national parks . I have never once seen a black person more than a hundred yards from their car in those places, and the number that I have ever seen in a national park at all in that time runs in the single digits.
I have no idea why, but IME, black folks have damned little interest in the great outdoors.

Tell that to Obama’s son that was tailgating me today while riding through the Smokie Mountains National Park. He was flashing his lights and honking his horn while less than 6 feet from my bikes bumper. And I was riding 10 over the posted limit. Finally pulled over and enjoyed watching him for the next 20 miles do the same to the car in front of him.

We used to visit Longwood Gardens (outside of Philadelphia) several times a year. Always a feast for the eyes and soul. One of the most interesting things I noticed was how many Asians visited…and the complete lack of blacks.

That would be news to the many black folks I saw visiting the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. They must not have told those others that I saw in Wyoming while on my vacation to stay home as well.

National Parks and historical places like Mount Vernon and Monticello are not places many black go to as long as there is a beach they can riot at.

I blame the trees.
Especially the REDwoods.

I hiked recently. There was a black couple about 25 yards from the trailhead in flip flops completely freaked out and about to head back to the base.

No surprise. Most of the blacks are honorable, people, working hard to feed their families and provide a better life for their children. The rest are too busy killing each other to care about anything decent, much less visit our National parks.

People like this are racist by manufacturing fake reasons why some things or someone is racist when it is not true or possible. All of this is being done intentionally to create racial divide and tension and provoke racial violence. Stop it now. How about white clouds are racist as well as dark clouds. White paint is definitely racist and black peoples never use white paint. Cut me a break.

Whats next? Air is racist! After all, many minorities live in urban areas. Urban areas have worse air quality than rural areas. White people live in rural areas with cleaner air. So the air must be racist!

According to recent TV commercials, blacks spend a lot of time outdoors, taking Jeep trips, paddling canoes and kayaks, hiking, walking dogs. It's almost like they are regular people.

I've noticed that. On TV, lots of blacks are having BBQs, picnics, hiking the great outdoors, along with their white/asian/hispanic spouse. I always knew advertising people lived in an alternate universe.

Seems like everything they do go outdoors they end up shooting each other. Maybe they should stay inside.

If every non-black person and everything about the Earth is racist, maybe they should consider another planet that is more friendly and tolerant. A race that is so helpless and sensitive must have had some reason for coming into existence on this hostile planet. Maybe the Dalai Lama or the Oracle at Delphi has the answer but I suspect they are both white and are racist as well.

Black slaves were seldom subjected to dangerous situations or dangerous types of work. Why risk an expensive slave when you can get an Irishman, fresh off the boat, for less than a dollar a day to work your coal mine or fell trees ?

Another pathetic example of trying to make blacks eternal victims...and thus, NEVER responsible for their behavior

FTA: “Through grantmaking, resource gathering, collaboration, and advocacy, we work with the ski industry as well as grassroots organizations across the United States to provide low or no-cost programs for youth traditionally denied access to winter sports,”
So this is really just a marketing push by the ski industry. They lost money last year due to covid shutdowns and are now looking for handouts (grantmaking).
