The Star Wars sequel trilogy — The Force Awakens (2015), The Last Jedi (2017), and The Rise of Skywalker (2019) — left a sour taste in the mouths of millions of fans. Disney had managed to remove some of the magic that made Star Wars so immersive and engaging, replacing the depth and mystery of the original trilogy with a hackneyed retread of the story elements and merchandising. Worst of all, the trilogy destroyed the character of Luke Skywalker and then lurched back and forth between a new direction (The Last Jedi) and an empty conclusion (The Rise of Skywalker).
Star Wars has been swirling the bowl since long before Disney got their maxi-woke hooks into it.

Disney is a disaster. How they view the magical, wonderful story that I remember as "Song of the South" as racist, and turn the fun and good Star Wars story into just dreck with "woke" crap wrecking it, is just sad.
Truly great artists replaced by political hacks. Disney is a disaster. I will never go to Disney World again.

Lucas jumped the shark when the plush toys defeated the Imperial Storm troopers in Return of the Jedi. I was watching the original Flash Gordon and Buck Rodgers with my grandson and my dad (who paid ten cents to see it as a kid) a few months back. That was a real kick.

Say what you want about Disney but Disneyland is still a magical place - with the exception of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. That new corner of the park - tucked behind Frontierland - ain't Disney.

Yea, “plush toys” defeated the mighty storm troopers. I couldn’t get past the incongruity of those furry little care-bears with their crooked little spears taking on a highly developed space military force and beating it. Only in movie land does that ever happen. Star Wars became a joke for me with that farce.

I loved the first Star Wars movie. Fun, different, great story (but only the first one). But dear Lord, will someone ask these guys if anyone understands the term "overkill". I like chicken but I don't want it for every meal 24/7 365 days a year forever. It's time to let it go.

"Fixing" the trilogy sounds to me like recycling it and squeezing out more money from it.

Agree about jumping the shark in the 3rd movie. But then in the new trilogy w/ Baba Jinks they caught the shark on a spear, raised it above the water, beat the crap out of it, and left it to rot in the hot ocean sun.
Those last 3 ridiculous pieces I saw only in tiny insufferable chunks.
All I can say is, if JJ Abrams is involved I want nothing to do with it.

#DisneyWhenTheWalletsClosed
Go woke, go broke. But believe me, Disney wont reform. They will only double down. They keep dropping balloons that Darthleen, she of the George Lucas trust "I will honor your story", she of "The Force is Female" tyranny, has been "let go" "reprioritized" even "fired" but she is still hanging around, as is her Estrogen Fueled and Clueless Story Group. It was once pointed out that SJWs always double down, never learn their lesson, and Disney bears that out.
Die, Disney. Die. May you never rise again.

Disney has milked the Stars Wars cow so hard she is now nothing more than a desiccated sack of bones. Put it to bed.

JJ Abrams is great at killing franchises. He did it with both Star Wars and Star Trek. In addition to what Tyler wrote, the last trilogy really was about one thing: women in the military. That's it. The prequel trilogy was about then-current late 90s and early aught politics defending Clinton and all of the horrible, nasty republican opposition to his crap. It speaks volumes that the best of the latest Star Wars movies are two spinoffs: Rogue One and Solo, but especially Rogue One. I recommend it.

The original "Star Wars" was new, unique and well done. They should have stopped there but you know hollywood, why be original when you can wring every last bite out of the shark?

It's not like I care at this point. The franchise has become such a mess that I don't think it'll ever be fixed. Maybe do a mash-up with the Star Trek universe. That would REALLY be something (and put both moribund franchises out of their misery for good.)

Disney will go ahead with the trilogy as soon as they can find a way to make every character in the movie female, with the one lone bad person in the movies a white male.

Hail Doomcock, the future ruler of earth! Overlord DVD produces some interesting and quite funny YouTube videos covering the fight to save our modern myths from "cultural vandals" and "woke wankery." He deals with a lot of rumors which even he admits must be taken with a grain of salt, but he's been proven right more often than not. Nice to see him gain media traction.

In a rational world, they'd have stopped at #3 that was too stupid for words. However, they'll keep making sequels and prequels as long as people pay to see them. The fact that those movies still make money is just one more symptom of the decline of our country's collective intelligence.

The first 3 were really good and cutting edge for the time, the last 3 were as horrible as they get. Let them die.
