Barry Diller made his name in the film industry as the chairman and CEO of two Hollywood studios, Paramount Pictures and what was then 20th Century Fox. Now, he is declaring the industry dead.
"The movie business is over," Diller said in an exclusive interview with NPR on the sidelines of the Allen & Company Sun Valley Conference, a media and technology conference in Idaho. "The movie business as before is finished and will never come back."
Yes, that has to do with a substantial decline in ticket sales and the closure of movie theaters during the coronavirus pandemic.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said President Joe Biden believes children need to learn about the country's 'challenging' history as she answered a question Friday about his views on critical race theory being taught in school.'The president believes that in our history there are so many dark moments and there is not just slavery and racism in our history, there is systemic racism that is still impacting society today,' Psaki said during the press briefing. 'And he believes, as I believe as a parent of children, that kids should learn about our history.'Psaki pointed out how the first lady, Dr. Jill Biden, is an educator

Health experts in the United States have raised the alarm that vaccinated individuals might be spreading the Covid-19 Delta variant, as cases surge in states across the country. The highly transmissible Delta variant now makes up more than half of new infections in the US.(Snip)Christopher Murray, director of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, told Insider that the spread of the Delta variant could actually be worse than current data suggests. “CDC guidance is not to test the vaccinated [unless they’re symptomatic], so we’re probably missing a bunch of transmission in vaccinated individuals,” Mr Murray said, who is the lead modeller at the IHME,

During a portion of an interview with BET set to air on Friday that was broadcast on Thursday’s “CBS This Morning,” Vice President Kamala Harris responded to a question on whether she’d compromise by agreeing to voter ID provisions to pass voting legislation by stating that we shouldn’t downplay the impact voter ID laws could have. Because to some, voter ID means, “you’re going to have to Xerox or photocopy your ID to send it in to prove that you are who you are.” And many people live where “there’s no Kinko’s, there’s no OfficeMax near them.”

A Confederate monument that helped spark the violent 'Unite the Right' rally in Charlottesville four years ago, will be removed on Saturday, the city announced Friday. In a news release, Charlottesville confirmed the statue removal of Confederate General Robert E. Lee, along with a statue of Confederate Gen. Thomas 'Stonewall' Jackson. The decision comes more than four years after the city voted to remove the Lee statue.

I have firmly and consistently condemned the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot from day one and I find the event extremely disturbing. However, I cannot help but notice that the Left’s response to the Capitol riot, the outrage over Marxist critical race theory in schools, the concerns about election integrity, and many other issues is only likely to exacerbate the tensions that inspired some Trump supporters to act like antifa and launch a violent attack against the very constitutional system they claim to defend.
In a lengthy and revealing Twitter thread, Darryl Cooper, host of The MartyrMade Podcast, recounted his understanding of the “Boomer-tier

Dr. Anthony Fauci appeared on MSNBC on Wednesday and slammed unvaccinated Americans, telling them to “get over this political statement.”
“This is not complicated. We’re not asking anybody to make a political statement one way or another,” Fauci said during a segment of “All in with Chris Hayes” on MSNBC. “We’re saying, try to save your life, and that of your family, and that of your community.”
“We have so many things, as you said, so many diseases that I deal with that don’t have solutions,” Fauci continued. “It’s very frustrating. You don’t have a treatment, you don’t have a vaccine.

Britons will need Covid certificates to enter pubs, bars, restaurants and clubs under plans to stop a fourth wave of the virus in the autumn.
Experts hope the move will boost the stalling vaccination rates among young people and stave off another surge in cases. The proposals would see entertainment venues in England demanding vaccination passports as proof of either two doses or a recent negative test. The Government's certification review release earlier in the week said although the so-called vaccine passports would not be mandated now, it did not rule out the prospect if England faces 'a difficult situation in autumn or winter'.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said Hunter Biden had a 'right to pursue an artistic career,' as she tried on Friday to justify the administration's role in brokering arrangements for the sale of his paintings. It followed revelations that the White House helped set up a deal for buyers' identities to remain hidden to ensure they did not win presidential favors.'I think it would be challenging for an anonymous person, who we don't know and Hunter Biden doesn't know, to have influence,' she said during her daily briefing.

The White House on Friday said GOP governors who rejected President Biden’s door-to-door vaccine effort are fueling attitudes that are “literally killing people.” White House press secretary Jen Psaki also said the governors had mischaracterized the initiative. “The failure to provide the accurate public health information, including the efficacy of vaccines and the accessibility of them to people across the country—including South Carolina—is literally killing people, so maybe they should consider that,” she said. Ms. Psaki was responding to South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster, who directed state health officials to thwart door-to-door tactics and said “pressuring” people to get vaccinated

Bug experts are getting rid of the name 'gypsy moth' because some Roma people consider it to be an ethnic slur. The Entomological Society of America, which oversees the common names of bugs, is getting rid of the common name of that critter and the lesser-known gypsy ant. The group this week announced that for the first time it changed a common name of an insect because it was offensive. In the past they've only reassigned names that weren't scientifically accurate. 'It's an ethnic slur to begin with that's been rejected by the Romani people a long time ago,' said society president Michelle S. Smith.
