This response makes me feel all warm inside. /s
I'm surprised Xiden has not challenged Putin to a fist fight behind the wood shed.
It's been a week since this ransomware attack. It took Xiden a week to formulate this weak response? This explains what has been revealed: that Biden is indecisive. And COVID continues to be a big distraction. Weak on our enemies, but acting tough against Trump supporters and "anti-vaxers."
Imagine if Trump had taken a week to respond to this incident. The MSM would have lit their scalps on fire.
We are in such trouble.

I am not advocating violence but if some death squads a la Mossad were formed and some of these scammers ended up assassinated it would put stop to most of this. Putin could do it if he wanted to.

Did US taxpayers not fund an incredibly expensive effort to "harden" cybersecurity against foreign powers as part of the "global war on terror?" And yet, the same agencies that cannot stop "Janet from the warrantee department" from phone-spamming us remain powerless against supposed ransomware players, to the point where pResident Dud has to beg the supposed bad guy to stop picking on us.

I wish some fellow posters would explain about these ransomware attacks.
Is it possible to clearly locate the physical location of the attackers/their computers? Can the attackers hide their location with false information?
How complex must their computers ve? Can a laptop be used for malware attacks?
And is it ironic that a company selling defense against malware is being subjected to malware?
If gun manufacturers are liable for misuse of guns, shouldn't Bill Gates be held responsible for malware attacks?

Cyber criminals are everywhere. They won't be stopped by some government. Best spend your money on protecting your equipment and network and training your people.

I’m surprised that Putin even takes Xiden’s calls. He probably does it for the entertainment value.

#7. A phone app could be used by the bad guys. The first thing that has to happen is a weakness in security (normally human) ..answering a spam and downloading malware, or even clicking on a bad website. Once mal ware is in place it reports back to a designated server. The malware may or may not identify the 'correct' ip address for tracking. Now the operator knows company A is 'on the hook' and the malware is spreading through the network. At anytime the operator can send a command to the malware to encrypt every hard drive on that network. What they sell is the key to unlock them.
I can see several opportunities to track the bad guy, most were in how to pay them. Well hello crypto currency (thanks for nothing). So the payment is made in bitcoin or some other flavor. The key from a professional investigator standpoint is to see where that money appears at a 'legitimate' bank. Apparently a great deal shows up in the Ukraine and other former soviet satellites, hence the 'threatening' Putin.
I'm sure I made that as clear as mud, but 3 essential things have to happen. 1. A bone headed move by an employee (remember there was a Clinton high official who used password as a password on classified laptop). 2 An operator then looks to see if it is worth the time/risk. and 3. Payment must change hands.

"DEMANDS!" The only thing demands accomplish is appeasing supporters. If you have the power don't make demands, you make changes.
