BROOKHAVEN, Ga. -- The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is trying to catch an exotic cat that’s on the loose in Historic Brookhaven. The agency has received at least three reports this week about a serval, which is native to Africa, roaming the neighborhood that borders Atlanta and Brookhaven. One of those reports came from Kristine Frank. “I’m laying in bed and I hear a thump on my bed and I’m thinking my dog is 15-years-old,” Frank recalled. “She can’t get up on our bed anymore.” On Wednesday, Frank, who lives off Club Drive NE, woke up to the cat

Comments:

Here kitty kitty. The wild animal is probably less dangerous than the neighbors in Atlanta.

Feral African species can be quite a problem worldwide if released into the wild, as well as in Atlanta.

I’m wondering why her idiot husband opened the door to let it out. Why not just keep it in there while you call someone?

The answer #2 is that the woman, even after the incident is over, thinks this animal is a threat to an elderly dog or a small child (which it is not).

It’s about time states pass laws making it illegal for people to own pets such as poisonous snakes, spiders etc. and other animals not native to the US.

Servals are popular with people who think they have to have an exotic pet. They are quite beautiful but they are not for the casual owner and I don't think they should be raised by just any spoiled so and so who thinks they have to have a big cat. If you want a big cat, get a Maine Coon or Norwegian Forest Cat, They are domesticated cats like mine, but they are really big. Maine Coon cats can get 18+ pounds.

I'm wondering if it could actually be a savannah cat, which is a domesticated hybrid related to the cerval. Big, beautiful cats.

It’s spelled with an “S,” #6. That’s what I think, #8 — it looks more like a Savannah to me.

Taliban forces in Afghanistan have banned women from leaving the house alone and forced men to grow beards as US troops withdraw from the war-torn country. The Taliban has unleashed a reign of terror in recent weeks and seized control of dozens of areas in a bid to regain power as the last of American troops left on Friday. The terror group has seized control of a third of Afghanistan - and most of that territory was captured in the last two weeks. The projected path of Hurricane Elsa shifted slightly away from South Florida on Saturday morning as the system continued to barrel through the Caribbean, but forecasters caution there’s still considerable uncertainty about the storm’s likely course. The storm’s forecast cone shifted west, removing almost all of coastal South Florida. But some models still show it striking the region, and the National Hurricane Center said there’s unusual uncertainty in the long-term track. And the cone shows only the possible locations of the storm’s center, which means hurricane-force or tropical-force winds could extend well outside the cone. Elsa’s forward speed of 31

The White House dove into damage control this week after reports of dysfunction and infighting in Vice President Kamala Harris' office, with the administration trying to stop a drama-filled narrative from taking hold, according to five people who spoke to CNN about the dynamics within Harris' office. Two people close to Harris' team said some individuals inside the vice president's office are frustrated with what they see as a dysfunctional operation that has been at times waylaid by internal conflict. Some of that ire is directed squarely at Harris' chief of staff, Tina Flournoy, those people said. Another source close

Dozens of looters moved into Afghanistan's Bagram Airfield just hours after U.S. troops vacated the airfield after a nearly 20-year occupation. The district administrator for the town of Bagram, Darwaish Raufi, told the Associated Press that since the troops' departure was not coordinated with local officials, the airfield's gates were not secured. This allowed looters to unlawfully enter before Afghan forces could secure the airfield. "Unfortunately the Americans left without any coordination with Bagram district officials or the governor's office," Raufi said. "They were stopped and some have been arrested and the rest have been cleared from the base," Raufi

Those of Joe Biden’s public behaviors that align with classic dementia symptoms are escalating. In the past few days, he strongly exhibited two symptoms: A type of belligerence that’s a cover-up for confusion and memory loss and a paranoid fear of those in charge of him. I used to spend a lot of time in the company of doctors. What always fascinated me were the tales they told of dealing with patients with early-stage dementia. The most interesting point they made was that elderly people, so as not to lose face or admit their own fears, are superb at deflecting the questions aimed at assessing their cognitive skills and memory.
