The conservative Presbyterian Church in America voted Thursday to disqualify all gay men from serving in its ministry. The 1,400-400 vote to change its governing document came at the denomination’s 48th General Assembly, held this week in St. Louis. The rule change, known as “Overture 23,” will go to local church bodies known as “presbyteries” for a vote before a second round of convention balloting next year that would place the language in the denomination’s “Book of Church Order,” which governs PCA practice.(Snip)The two votes are part of a continuing trend in the PCA, which has almost 400,000 members in the U.S., to uphold biblical views

I am not Presbyterian, but why is something this fundamental up for a *vote*?

Do you mean other denominations might accept them? How is that possible if they claim to follow God's Holy Word?

Finally someone gets it.
I would add, neither practicing gay men OR women, or practicing LGBTQ+ are qualified for ministry. We are all sinners, but we should be striving to be like Christ, not advocating to smear or diminish or 'reinvent' him.
God's very first commandment to ALL Creation is found in the book of Genesis: "Go forth, be fruitful, and multiply..."
If you 're a determined, practicing gathering, you are failing that.

'Gay' not 'gathering'
One of these days I will recall in advance that my phone spellchecker is unreliable as Joe Biden.

I left the Presbyterian Church that I grew up in when they re-joined the Marxist PCUSA. My mother left at the same time. "They just want our money". she said. She was right. The Northern-based PCUSA was bleeding members and needed the more thriving Southern churches for financial reasons. They then began trying to coerce our churches into the same leftist dogma that caused many of their members to leave in the first place. Same-sex marriages, gays as pastors, social "justice", etc. My current church, Methodist, is facing a big split next fall over the same issues. The leftist bishops want all the above but the Methodist Doctrine prohibits this. We traditionalists joined the church because we believe in the doctrine as it is. We don't want to follow the latest "woke" trend.

It's no mistake that these two goals of the US communists are adjacent. From Communist Goals, US Congressional Record appendix, pp. A34-A35 January 10, 1963.
26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural, healthy."
27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity, which does not need a "religious crutch."

They have to vote on this. really. What kind of church would even have think about these kinds of values and morals invading their ministry. The sickening part is that these whack jobs are serious.

I am studying Canon Law. Unlike secular law, which only punishes, Canon Law assesses the problem and applies some way to overcome it. This has been going on since AD 33. I suspect that serious men who love their neighbor would have discovered the truth in the past 1,988 years, and they have. The homosexual lobbyists disagree based only on their activities in bed.

If a person wants to be a leader, that person should be prepared to be an example and model, not an exception to a proper life. If that person prefers to be an outlier, that's fine, but don't expect to find any followers. It's a free country, and a person can make their choices, but don't be surprised if some of those choices leave you living as a hermit in the mountains. People have a right to choose their leaders.

The last book of the Old Testament is Malachi; in Chapter 2:1-9, the Lord rebuked the priests “for failing to live up to the expectations He presented in His Word.” Both the Old and New Testaments make clear that homosexuality is an abomination, a sin. (Genesis19:5, Leviticus18:22,20:13, Deuteronomy22:5,23:18, Judges19:22-23, Romans1:26-27, 1Corinthians6:9-10, 2Peter6-11, Jude6-8, Revelation21:5-8,22:14-15) Scripture is the infallible Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20-21).
Malachi 2:1-9 - The LORD Rebukes the Priests ~~ 2 “And now, O priests, this command is for you. 2 If you will not listen, if you will not take it to heart to give honor to my name, says the LORD of hosts, then I will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings. Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you do not lay it to heart. ... 7 For the lips of a priest should guard knowledge, and people should seek instruction from his mouth, for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts. 8 But you have turned aside from the way. You have caused many to stumble by your instruction. You have corrupted the covenant of Levi, says the LORD of hosts, 9 and so I make you despised and abased before all the people, inasmuch as you do not keep my ways but show partiality in your instruction.”
The same requirements exist for pastors and teachers today. St. Paul wrote, “He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.” (Titus 1:9) Today’s pastors/priests have the same responsibility of “teaching” as well as upholding the Word of God. The Apostle James wrote, “Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.” (James 3:1) Those who claim to teach will be judged more harshly “Because false teaching can destroy the faith of those being taught (Galatians 1:8-9). Both a stricter standard of judgment and a harsher punishment.”
The Old Testament is the Law and the New Testament the Gospel. Law serves the purpose of the Gospel; Law and Gospel work together; the Law cannot save sinners, but shows mankind’s sins and drives mankind to repentance leading mankind to forgiveness and saving through the Gospel.
Revelation is the last book of the New Testament; in Revelation 21:5-8 and 22:14-15 it is written that sexual immorality is sinful. Homosexuality is contrary to Bible teaching. Hate the sin, love the sinner.

The church we used to attend was PCA. The fact that 400 supported gay pastors is not encouraging. But I suppose you could make the distinction between "gay" and "practicing gay". That's a stretch, though.
