BAKERSFIELD, Calif.  — Bakersfield Police Department Volunteer Chaplain Angelo Frazier has been speaking to Raquel Urias every day for nearly two weeks since her son Joe Ruiz was shot and killed by police. Ruiz refused to pull over when an officer tried to pull him over on Cottonwood Road on June 13th, police say. The 25-year-old father of two crashed into a car on Cottonwood and East Brundage Lane and then got out of the car. Bakersfield Police say Ruiz had a gun when he and six different officers exchanged fire. Ruiz was taken to Kern Medical with at least 6 gunshot wounds and died three days later. CORRECTIONS*

Comments:

The headline is rather misleading. She isn't thanking the police for shooting her son. A rather inspiring story, how many would be so generous and ask to pray for those who were involved in the death of their son.

Disregard a cop with a gun, and all bets are off. He/she wants to go home at night.

Hugs and prayers to Mrs. Uriah. What a loving level headed statement for her to make. I pray her church family is holding her close to ward off the BLM/Antifa vultures.

Something weird is going on in Utah. Last week, a group from the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources dispatched to count sheep spied a shiny monolith in the middle of nowhere. The monolith, about 10 to 12 feet tall, had been expertly planted into the ground. Utah’s highway patrol shared a picture of the find on Instagram, along with the caption: “Counting big horn sheep with DWR this week. During the counts we came across this, in the middle of nowhere, buried deep in the rock. Inquiring minds want to know, what the heck is it? Anyone?”

After spending several hours behind bars Wednesday, Rashyla Levitt returned Thursday to the streets, protesting and confronting authorities just a day after Seattle Police Department officers swept through the area that had been known as the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest. “We are back with the fire and we are ready to go,” she said. Levitt was one 44 people arrested early Wednesday morning in Capitol Hill as police moved in during a predawn operation that pushed a handful of demonstrators from the area. Police charged Levitt with failure to disperse, but since it was only a misdemeanor, the judge released her. The hasty release raised questions about if the protesters would quickly reassemble.

Nancy Pelosi used to point her angry finger at Donald Trump, but she leaves him for dust when it comes to busting norms, dividing Congress and causing mayhem. If anyone is to blame for the hyper-partisanship in Washington these days, it’s the spiteful House speaker. She behaves more like a Mafia don waging a gang war than a dignified, fair and honest presiding officer, which is what the speaker’s role requires. Pelosi abuses her power in ways that once were unthinkable. Her speakership has been the antithesis of Lincoln’s entreaty to “the better angels of our nature.”

A lifelong baseball fan, I abandoned the game this year after MLB sided with the Democratic Party in its campaign against ballot integrity in Georgia. It wasn’t just that: my home town team has put a “Black Lives Matter” sign and a memorial to George Floyd in right field. If I can’t escape politics at a baseball game, I’d rather go somewhere else. For the first time in decades, I haven’t seen a major league baseball game this year. Not only that, I haven’t watched or listened to a single pitch on radio or television. Then there is football. Commissioner Roger Goodell is driving the sport in a “woke” direction.
