Cosby ruling an example where prosecutors

George Washington University law professor and Fox News contributor Jonathan Turley joined criminal defense attorney Donna Rotunno on "The Story" Tuesday to react to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturning the sex assault conviction of Bill Cosby.(snip)JONATHAN TURLEY: I think the court was clearly correct. This was a trial that became entirely untethered from basic principles of due process. This is part of the corrosive effect of high-profile trials. The prosecutors, the judge, discarded basic guarantees of a defendant. Here, an earlier prosecutor determined that he did not have evidence to try [Bill] Cosby on these charges. So he agreed he would not do so if Cosby agreed to participate in

Comments:

Turley, as usual, explains further. As usual, he is easy to understand. This was entirely the fault of the judge and the prosecutor. The losers? The victims. who did not get a fair trial.

From another article by Turley - this one on Cosby’s possibly suing for wrongful conviction and malicious prosecution: Ultimately, his lawsuit could present Gov. Wolf with a political dilemma. Cosby has cognizable claims for wrongful conviction and malicious prosecution. However, he is not exactly a popular cause for many in Pennsylvania. Roughly 50 women accused him and Cosby admitted to giving drugs to his alleged victims before sexual acts. Bill Cosby is the ultimate example that you do not have to be entirely innocent to be wrongly convicted. https://jonathanturley.org/2021/06/30/could-cosby-sue-for-wrongful-conviction/#more-175090

Something's missing here. What is it? The "journalist" who filed these reports forgot to include the name of the prosecutor responsible for this debacle.

There was not enough evidence of a crime to even bring a case to trial. There were no victims. Young slutty women wanted free drugs, high times hanging out with celebrities and 'scalps'...." "I had sex with famous people." Cosby wanted sex, gave drugs and access to celebrity parties. It was a deal agreed to by both sides. Then, years later, the women decided that they "were taken advantage of".....and Hey, you owe me money, rich guy! I call BS on the whole deal. Other women made a deal much like Horizontal Harris, but wanted another payoff.

The comedian's testimony was part of a civil suit involving a woman who accused him of drugging her and sexually assaulting her. At one point, Cosby was asked by the woman's attorney about his use of prescriptions for the pills, known as Quaaludes. "When you got the Quaaludes, was it in your mind that you were going to use these Quaaludes for young women that you wanted to have sex with?" the lawyer asked. This all happened after Cosby had been getting attention for saying in public that blacks should go to school, be married, stop taking drugs, stop gang banging and generally being feral. Can't have a popular black man saying that stuff so he had to be destroyed.

When a DA makes a deal it's binding on his successors else no defense attorney will ever allow their client to do it. It's that simple.

Wimbledon is here at last, after the missing 2020 year. What struck me watching the French Open a couple of weeks before on TV was just how much rubbish I had to listen to if I kept the sound on. There are now too many matches broadcast, which means more and more commentators spouting off about the game in the middle of rallies. I don’t know what it is that makes viewers accept these nonstop blabbermouths who interrupt their viewing without raising hell with the networks. We’ve become a nation of sheep, accepting everything so-called experts throw at us. Televised sporting events do not actually need commentators except before

The sudden shift in narrative over the possibility that COVID-19 could have emerged from a lab in Wuhan, China, is mysterious and contingent to “just how corrupt our system has become,” according to evolutionary biologist Bret Weinstein. Weinstein, biologist and co-host of the DarkHorse Podcast, has since last year explored the possibility that COVID-19 could have emerged from a laboratory. If there was ever a case against affirmative action, it would be the sitting vice president. All of the things opponents of race quotas say — that they inspire mediocrity, lead to lower standards, and set unqualified people up for failure — are precisely what we’re seeing in the shockingly poor job performance of Kamala Harris. President Biden has admitted he chose her as his running mate, first and foremost, because she is a woman. “I’ll pick a woman to be vice president,”(snip). And black Democrat leaders, during last year’s threatening race riots, demanded his choice also be black. Qualifications for the actual White House weren’t really part of the equation.

Arizona’s ban on ballot-harvesting and out-of-precinct voting does not violate the federal Voting Rights Act, the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 this morning in a closely watched case with implications for future elections. The court opinion split neatly along ideological and partisan lines with the 6 conservative justices nominated by Republican presidents voting to uphold the state law and the 3 liberal justices voting to strike it down. The decision reverses a judgment issued by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and comes the week after the Biden administration filed a lawsuit against Georgia over the state’s new electoral integrity-promoting law claiming it amounts to so-called voter suppression.
