Woman told husband on phone she saw
pool cave in as Florida condo collapsed

A woman missing in the deadly Florida condo building collapse called her husband as the tragedy unfolded — and said she saw a sinkhole where the pool used to be before the line went dead, according to a new report. “It was 1:30 a.m., I’ll never, never forget that,” Mike Stratton, husband of Cassie Stratton, 40, told the Miami Herald. The model, actress and Pilates instructor woke her husband in Washington, DC, and frantically told him that their building was shaking before making the startling comments about a sinkhole, according to the outlet.

Comments:

My first thought would be to get out, NOW. Call somebody later. Not a good choice.

Aerial photos show that the 'pool deck' area right around the pool is intact today. It is not clear who came up with the "said she saw a sinkhole" verbiage. One place it says "she said she saw the pool deck cave in", and did the reporter just convert "cave in" to "sinkhole"? Not clear. And some of this depends on what you define as 'the pool deck'. Closer to the building, the concrete walking surface (deck) is collapsed, dropped what appears to be about 6 to 8 ft. Some aerial views show what appears to be a void under the surviving deck right around the pool. It appears as if the pool is actually an above ground pool, with a raised concrete deck around it so that it would appear to be an in-ground pool. This may have been required by the likely high water table in that area, making an in-ground pool impractical or impossible. If the deck area nearest the building was raised, and collapsed, that could have further damaged the columns supporting the building. If the pool deck was originally on grade, then maybe a lot of the soil was missing under it....which could mean undermined foundation, too. I wouldn't be going in the other 'carbon copy' building, either.

No, aerial photos do NOT show the pool deck intact and DO show a giant sinkhole at the west end.

A sinkhole was my first guess as to why that building collapsed the way it did.

Please look at this photo. The area immediately around the pool is entirely intact. The area closer to the building has dropped, like a 6-8 ft cliff. The pool it self seems to be entirely intact and still filled with water in this picture. There are many more from different angles. All that I show show the same thing. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e4/Surfside_condominium_collapse_photo_from_Miami-Dade_Fire_Rescue_4.jpg

Another overhead view, showing the area immediately around the pool to be intact, level and it appears that the pool is still filled with water in this picture. https://gumlet.assettype.com/steelguru%2F2021-06%2F5f53272e-b95d-4da1-bddc-d17f5a45c167%2FCondo_Collapses_Miami.jpg?w=1200&auto=format%2Ccompress&ogImage=true

this collapse got me thinking about the last structure collapse we had in south florida, the pedestrian bridge in 2018. read the report(info of which seemingly never was considered news worthy) and you will never trust anything built in south florida again. https://www.osha.gov/sites/default/files/2019-12/2019_r_03.pdf

There was a garage under the pool deck, perhaps several floors deep. Collapse into this caused by structural failure could leave a void looking like a sinkhole. Sinkhole or not, the foundation of the building should have been dug deep enough to sustain it

Everywhere other than in Big Media newsrooms, Americans speak openly of President Joe Biden's cognitive decline and wonder whether he can last out his four-year term. If he cannot last, there are certain things we can be confident will happen and other things about which we can only speculate. The latter will be much more intriguing. Should Biden leave office, willingly or otherwise, Kamala Harris will become president. This is a given. Article II, Section 1, Clause 6 of the Constitution makes clear that in "case of the removal of the President from office, or of his death, resignation, or inability

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, is urging the Biden administration to lift its long-standing requirement for people to wear masks on airplanes and other forms of mass transit ahead of the upcoming Fourth of July holiday weekend. Airline travelers ages 2 and older currently have to wear face masks in order to fly, despite the widespread availability of COVID-19 vaccines and the CDC's recent declaration that fully vaccinated people can travel safely. "Biden’s CDC needs to ‘follow the science’ and end its mask mandate for vaccinated Americans on airplanes and public transportation," Cruz tweeted Monday morning. This followed a similar post Sunday night in which he added

In the last two days, three interesting stories have emerged from the Middle East. The first story is about Ebrahim "the Butcher" Raisi's election as president in Iran; the second is Israel's announcement that this election forces it to protect itself against this butcher; and the third is news that Iran's sole nuclear power plant abruptly shut down. The first and second stories are quite obviously connected. The real question is whether the third story is a promise of things to come or is just a coincidence. That Raisi was going to be president is no surprise to regular American Thinker readers.

While the federal Constitution guarantees the right to bear arms, states regulate firearms licensing, and in the past 35 years, a landslide of states has recognized the right to carry a firearm. Check out the night and day contrast between 1986 and 2021. Don comments: Without firing a shot (except at the firing range), Americans have won a revolution -- state by state.

In my book, she is a vile snake. Since then, she has gone as fully left as David Brock, another onetime conservative who went to the dark side, trying for years to get Rush Limbaugh thrown off the air, destroy Fox News, and discredit every conservative. Wallace's show on MSNBC thrived while there was the Trump presidency to attack and spew hatred at. But it turns out that without Trump, not too many people want to watch her.
