More than 150 Houston Methodist Hospital employees resigned or have been fired as of Tuesday over a recent policy that required hospital employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by Monday. All told, 153 people are no longer employees of the Houston health care chain, Methodist spokesperson Patti Muck said. The hospital has about 25,000 employees, nearly all of whom have abided by the policy, Methodist leaders have said previously. The firings follow a contentious few weeks in which hospital employees staged protests and filed a lawsuit against the hospital, claiming the policy, announced in April, violated their rights. Methodist was one of the first large health care providers

This coming Monday is D-day where I work. All un-vaccinated must still wear masks. Going to be interesting.

They filed a lawsuit and still got fired? Somebody must be pretty darn confident over there at Houston Methodist.

My bet is that 95+% of healthcare workers took the vaccine as soon as they could. The few holdouts are not very sensible, because you risk getting the virus from one patient and transmitting it to other patients if you are not vaccinated.
It's unlikely that institutions can use the law to vaccinate holdouts, but they sure can decide not to employ 'em!

The hospital had no problem making them work through the pandemic. This is unfortunate but a health and safety issue for the hospital. Nobody should be forced to get a vaccine , but in some settings it seems to be smart policy to have vaccinated employees to protect them and patients.

#3, it may be slightly arrogant to assume folks who analyze things differently than you do are "not very sensible". Refusing to volunteer to be beta testers for experimental drugs euphemistically dubbed "vaccines" that were rushed to market and have not received full CDC approval actually sounds prudent.
And what does it matter if you transmit a disease you don't have (and no evidence exists to show that's even possible) to patients who've already been "vaccinated"? Surely they were sensible enough to get theirs. Or maybe their vaccine doesn't work?

These aren't vaccines, they are EXPERIMENTS. The death rate is acknowledged to be over 5000 but it appears the CDC is cooking the books and the actual death rate exceeds 25000. The most current studies indicate radical damage to red blood cells, leading to the blood clots we hear so much about. They may be out of a job, but they are going to live. Why does the gov want us to take these unproven, untested, experimental, DNA changing chemical concoction???

I look forward to the lawsuits by employees who were coerced by their employer to get the vaccine, and died or had serious injury from the vaccine.

There is enough evidence that has been collected to question if someone under the age of thirty really needs to get the vaccine. With young men getting inflamed hearts and some dying as a result, I for one would have to pass on this vaccine. I addition, evidence is coming out that one's red blood cells are affected as well in those that have gotten the vaccine. Instead of the red blood cells having round smooth edges, it appears that the red blood cells of the vaccinated appear to have ragged and even torn edges. These ragged edges may create more blood clots leading to the possiblity of more heart attacks and strokes.

My wife works in an Amazon shipping center, and as we have already had Covid, are refusing the shot. Amazon is already only requiring the un-vaccinated to wear masks, and paying employees $80.00 to get both shots. We are waiting to see if firing the un-vaccinated is the next step.
As the Houston Methodist employees have already had one court rule against them, the precedent has been set for others to be let go as part of the Government's push to intimidate people into getting the vaccine.

Sounds like the number of hispanics I would expect to be working in the hospital. Nobody is talking about it -- the hispanics in the US are NOT getting the vaccine. They watch and listen to completely different news source than your average American.

The last four people I personally know who got covid had already had the shots. One of them had already had covid, got the shots, got covid again. Another one of them just got off the ventilator. So much for 'if you get it after taking the shots, your symptoms will be milder.' I will not be China's guinea pig. I am, however, taking ivermectin and vitamin D - and getting plenty of sunshine!

I wouldn’t take that bet, #3. The last statistic I saw for health care workers vaccination rates was at about 40% vaccinated. Perhaps the unvaccinated are a little more sensible than you imply.

Well #12, the precious Mexican folks in the South Texas areas where my siblings are well-represented in all the Wal-Mart vaccination lines. Many are still wearing masks even though not required to do so.
I do know one nurse anesthetist at Houston Methodist. She quit and is quite calm. She emailed me saying these are the days of tough decisions. She made hers and she isn’t whining about it. Hospitals and American medical care is tied very closely to government. This is just the beginning.

Employment at will is generally the law of the land recognized by the courts. Your employer and you can break off the employment relationship at any time for no reason...no longer willing to work or have working. Employers can set workplace rules. The hospital set one that no court is going to dispute...and employees have a choice to remain employed or leave. That's not coercion. In this case, I understand, that issue was settled in a previous lawsuit. So, if D-Day is coming at your workplace...

I think Judge Lynn Hughes should go find himself a job somewhere else. What a lout, what he said, if they don't like it, they can go and work somewhere else. I am glad this patriots have stood up to the scrums in the executive suite at Methodist. I just wonder how any of them can make general prescriptions about people's health, but when you go there, they say they will have to run a bunch of tests, take down your medical history, review your medicines, but first run your credit card. My question is why all that, when you can prescribe on tv, without even seeing me?

Better getting a new job than getting a risky, likely harmful shot.

Regardless of vaccine proponent's pronouncements publicly and here, even Dr. Fraud's agency only has right at 50% of the staff getting the shot, by Dr. Fraud's own words.
Many places report that half of health care workers are not getting the shot.

Houston is currently about a 15% shortage of nurses and other healthcare workers...so hopefully those who got fired will be able to quickly find other employment.
My suggestion...if an employer requires vaccination as a condition to work, then they should be held fully liable for any resulting complications.

#22 - That is exactly why my employer has decided not to require vaccinations as a condition of continued employment. Despite immense pressure by a bunch of loudmouthed Karens, they stated that they do not want the responsibility incurred by mandating the COVID vaccine. They are still pushing the masks thing, but they decided early on that they would not require the vaccine.
