“Vatican Warns U.S. Bishops,” the headline boldly declares: “Don’t Deny Biden Communion Over Abortion.” It’s a striking title, and even with its sagging readership and brutalized reputation, these sort of things carry weight from The New York Times. But it doesn’t take a marginally informed Catholic to see something’s wrong here: It merely takes a decent search for details to notice that whatever weight the headline is carrying, it certainly isn’t in facts. It lacks any facts because it’s a pressure piece, pure and simple,CORRECTION*

None of those Democratic politicians who vote the "pro-choice" stance to kill innocents are in a state of grace. None of them should be presenting themselves for Holy Communion~~but what can you expect? None of them has a conscience. They will push this to blacken the Church and make it the Church's fault that they don't receive Holy Communion. It should never have come to this. The USCCB should have taken a stand a long time ago.

NYT is a lying anti-American propaganda outlet. Nothing that they ever print is factual, nothing is ever worth wasting time on.

The NYT continues to let its board's ideology play a larger role than truth in shaping its reporting. While I get as agitated about it as #4 sounds, I think having an occasional reminder from articles that shred the Times' surreal distortions of events, like this one.
And I feel compelled to add "or Atheism" to #3's exceptions. While many Atheists would like everybody to believe it's the same as adhering to no particular religion, the assertion that there is no supernatural being is very much a religious belief.

What was sad is that I saw several conservative blogs run with this erroneous story.
I'm not Catholic, but I work with a lot of Catholics here in Texas in the pro-life movement. The bishops here have been very vocal in their condemnation of the abuses of the Demon-Rats, and most especially faux-Catholic biden, in both abortion and the sexual abuse of so many illegal immigrant children. To say biden is not a popular man among Catholics here is an understatement.
Of course, after the way all Christian churches cowered in fear during the Covid pandemic, instead of leading in faith, I'm not sure how much weight anyone will put on the opinions of church leaders any more. And that is the saddest and most destructive outcome of this virus in my humble opinion.

Biden, Kerry, and Pelosi should be denied communion, and the Pope should be excommunicated for being a communist.

The San Francisco Archbishop Cordileone's recently released public letter, "Before I Formed You in the Womb I Knew You", is a powerful statement on the sanctity of life and the abomination of abortion. It must be read by every Catholic and should be by every Christian, especially those in the pro-life movement.
As this article states, the Vatican reminded the American bishops that any policies/actions must be enforced universally, meaning not just for public elected officials but also the laity. The Archbishop's letter includes the admonition that Catholics who vote for candidates supporting or defending abortion are also guilty of mortal sin. The letter calls on bishops and pastors to instruct their flocks, not just the politicians, about the evil of abortion and urge all to reflect on their actions that have passively or actively condoned this gross crime against humanity.
This is a watershed moment for our U.S. bishops. For fifty years there has been a quiet understanding that abortion is not preached from the pulpit. Pro-life homilies sure, but never is the word "abortion" spoken. The reason given to me by many priests, of whom I inquired, "Its not a subject to be discussed at Mass when families with small children are present." This misguided notion has allowed many good Catholics to vote for Democrats because, "While I'm personally against abortion, I don't have the right to keep another person from making that decision." They have heard no other instruction from their bishops or priests who only spoke in support of pro-life. So good Catholics could contribute to their local crisis pregnancy center and still vote for Democrats because abortion was just one political issue among many policies they supported. Should the U.S. bishops adopt Archbishop Cordileone's letter then there are going to be a lot of uncomfortable Catholics in the pews.
Archbishop Cordileone leads a sizeable group of conservative bishops, however I am unsure of their number or percentage within the group. Our Bishop Vasa, Diocese of Santa Rosa, presented Cordileone's letter during his homily on Mother's Day. He actually said the word "abortion", several times, from the pulpit! It was the most powerful homily I have ever heard. Twice I exclaimed out loud, "Thank you God for this man!" (We were live streaming from the cathedral.) Bishop Vasa plainly, and very pastoral, explained that not only Catholic politicians who advocate and promote abortion commit mortal sin but also those who vote and support them. He urged reflection and sincere examination of conscious before availing oneself of the blessings of the Sacrament of Reconciliation (confession). The second half of his homily extolled the virtues, love and sacrifices of motherhood and the blessings bestowed upon those women who choose life.
It will be interesting to witness the spiritual battle that will be fought at this year's USCCB conference, part and parcel of our Battle for America. May Archbishop Cordileone and the conservative bishops prevail. Its time to rattle the beads! AMDG

I'm almost with the NYT on this one given that the Catholic bishops are probably the biggest hypocrites on planet Earth.
