My colleague Jennifer Oliver O’Connell reported earlier on a mass shooting in Austin, Texas, late Friday night. Fourteen people were wounded, with at least two critically-injured during a shooting in downtown Austin. Two men are suspected of being involved in the shooting, according to the initial reports; although the police later said the number was unclear, but there was a description of one of the suspect. But it’s what the Austin American-Statesman said about that suspect that is causing a lot of talk today. At the bottom of its article on the shooting, the paper included the following. Editor’s note: Police have only released a vague description of the suspected shooter

With the rise of Craigslist and the fall of classified advertising newspapers make their diminished revenues mostly through subscriptions from like-minded area people. That particular area of the state being California-Left. The editorial and newsroom staff of the paper apparently see their wealthy woke social media savy readership as highly susceptible to 'perpetuating stereotypes' of an abhorant, unspoken, unspecified but obviously universally recognized nature. They have a low opinion of their readership.

I guess since there are so many of these particular suspects committing crimes, and they all look alike- then that is why the description is vague.

99.99% of mass shootings are committed by one demographic. We know it and the media knows it too. There is no way that they can hide it, no matter how hard they try.

I guarantee you.......had the shooter been a loner white kid, living in his parents basement, with a manifesto already written......they'd have sure described him. Along with the obligatory calls for "common sense" gun laws.

Apparently even using language like "teens" or "a group" reveals too much information. The editors really shouldn't be concerned about it because when this type of senseless mayhem happens every weekend and is perpetrated by the same demographic, we know who did it even before we read the vague details. If we could control the weather like the climate idiots say we can, I would choose Austin as the target of the next hurricane that hits Texas. It would be doing the entire state a favor.

About 6% of the population is causing about 90% of the violent crimes, including murders, in our country and nobody wants to address the problem. Blacks have gone out of control and nobody has the guts to call them out. Have you noticed that nobody talks about the attacks on Asians anymore. Why, because every video shows its the same people attacking them. Guess who, you got it. Appalling........

Stereotyping by not stereotyping letting us know things like dreadlocks, hoodies, sport sneakers, baggy pants but don't mention race. Unless it's a white guy then all bets are off we get plenty details. The chosen race is having a field day now this is probably a misdemeanor in Austin if no one was killed but only injured.

Remember when we were assured that Joe Biden was going to bring about a return of normalcy and decorum? Yeah, good times. That’s all gone out the window since Biden officially took office and things aren’t getting any better. When the president’s mind is not melting, he’s pushing a far-left agenda that is enough to make Bernie Sanders blush. Even still, you’d expect the partisan rantings to be few and far between while overseas at the G7, where he’s already beclowned himself multiple times throughout the last week. Yet, because Biden is, in fact, not a return to normalcy, he launched into an embarrassing tirade against the Republican Party

During a one-on-one meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of the summit of G-7 leaders, President Biden was asked whether he’d persuaded U.S. allies that, to use his phrasing, America is back. Biden gestured at Macron: “Ask him.” “Yeah,” Macron said, smiling. “Definitely.” This is actually a response that would seemingly be common among Macron’s countrymen. Pew Research Center polling found a huge surge in how positively the United States was viewed by citizens of allied countries from 2020 to 2021 — that is, from the administration of Donald Trump to that of Biden.

Joe Biden was supposed to have a press conference after NATO meetings today in Belgium at 9:00 p.m. But he was at least three hours late with 100 members of the press waiting that whole time, with no real explanation being given to the press. So when Biden finally showed up, it might have been better had he not done so, because they were primed and ready. One of them asked him about Vladimir Putin and asked Biden if he thought Putin was a killer, a term that Biden has used for Putin in the past. That seemed to be too much for Biden, who just started weirdly laughing.

My colleague Nick Arama has specifically examined Biden’s seeming inability to answer a question posed by CNN’s Jeff Zeleny about Biden having previously called Russian President Vladimir Putin a “killer” and how that might impact their talks in his upcoming summit meeting with Putin. But the overall tenor of Biden’s press conference put on display for the European press and the entire world the obvious mental deficiencies that Joe Biden is suffering from. Biden faces two options to pass an infrastructure bill by either passing a more moderate version with a bipartisan group of Senate Republicans and Democrats that could survive the 60-vote filibuster, or he could pass the legislation with only 50 votes using budgetary reconciliation. If Biden fails to gain the support of ten Senate Republicans to pass the bill through the Senate, he will have to use reconciliation, although many Senate Democrats have balked at his mammoth proposal for its high price tag
