The IRS is investigating a leak of troves of private tax records from the country’s wealthiest residents to ProPublica, which published an analysis of the data on Tuesday morning. The nonprofit investigative news organization used the leaked Internal Revenue Service records to show that some of the ultrarich, such as Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, and George Soros, paid no federal income taxes in certain years. It also compared their wealth growth relative to their taxes paid in an effort to highlight the ways in which they avoided paying higher levels of taxation.ProPublica claims that it doesn’t know who the source of the leak was.

Great just what we need more fuel to throw on the fire. The wealthiest 1% pay about 40% of the income taxes which is more than the bottom 90% pay. That doesn't mean some of the well connected don't cheat the system. Income tax is not wealth tax. The very wealthy don't do what most of us do;, some years they make a killing and other years they make nothing and even lose net wealth but still may remain stinking rich, or perhaps not and someone else breaks into the 1%. So they didn't any taxes some year, so what? What did they pay as they acquired the wealth that got them where they are? What happened the year they didn't pay? Did they pay in excess the previous year and only owe $780 some year?

Marxist / Democrats only seeking to divide us further. Setting up for the “great reset”? Our deep state is so dangerous to America.

So will their tax returns face the same scrutiny that President Trump's are?

Whatever income, or profit, or loss these folks incurred, they are first and foremost taxpayers, and/or citizens whose private info is supposed to remain just that: PRIVATE. That data is provided to the government under duress, i.e., requirement of law with potentially severe penalties if it is not provided to the designated government agency--the IRS. The perps must be found, prosecuted, and sentenced to the full extent of the law. This is a twofer: illegal act, i.e., a crime, and a breach of trust. OUTRAGEOUS!!!

Why aren't they publishing the tax returns of all the Americans that paid no taxes, more than half the tax filers. They could have worked harder so they could have paid the government more taxes. Businesses don't grow straight up every year. Some years good, some not. Taxes can be deferred by reinvesting, but in the end all these wealthy are going to pay a huge estate tax.

Sorry. I don't necessarily care that the corporations don't pay taxes since they are employing people.
I do care that people like Bezos, Musk and Soros use non-profits designed to destroy our country as tax shelters so they pay nothing as private individuals!

"Anyone may arrange his affairs so that his taxes shall be as low as possible; he is not bound to choose that pattern which best pays the treasury. There is not even a patriotic duty to increase one's taxes. Over and over again the Courts have said that there is nothing sinister in so arranging affairs as to keep taxes as low as possible. Everyone does it, rich and poor alike and all do right, for nobody owes any public duty to pay more than the law demands.”

No doubt the Obama-Biden crew at the IRS is at it again. How come they did not release Trump’s tax returns?

Makes me wonder about those charts that claim the wealthy pay so much in taxes. Sure, by the CHARTS that's what they SHOULD be paying, but when the rubber hits the road (or ink pen hits the check) stories like this makes me think there may be some sleight of hand in the actual levels.

Is anyone surprised these people pay no fed income taxes? I'm not.
