Even sailors have a sweet tooth. And for anyone who’s ever wanted to eat dessert like a sailor in the U.S. Navy, now you can. The Navy’s 1945 recipe for soft sugar cookies was posted on YouTube by the Naval History and Heritage Command in April, as part of its "The History Galley" video series. The series host and public affairs specialist Thomas Frezza told Fox News that he started making the videos during the coronavirus pandemic. "I have a few different editions of the U.S. Navy's Cookbook and it was during quarantine, I was looking for something to do and something that we could share

And they needed a meat product that would have a long shelf life in any climate and could be shipped anywhere. That's how we got Spam. And how about a chocolate source that wouldn't melt. Something that would Melt in your mouth and not in your hands. Yes, M&Ms

I, too, helped my mother make snickerdoodles during the Christmas season. I was 'expert' at rolling the little balls of dough in the bowl of sugar and cinnamon, just before they went onto the cookie sheet. Grand memories.

I have a 19-tens Army cookbook with a recipe for "Possum for 30". You need six possums and and you roast them in a salt crust that absorbs the grease. (My mom's comment on The Beverly Hillbillies' possum stew: "greasey.") Anybody want to put that on YouTube? Gotta recipe for hardtack, too.

The George H.W. Bush Foundation for U.S.-China Relations agreed to accept $5 million from a group with ties to the Chinese Communist Party and China's international propaganda efforts, according to a report Saturday. The group, which was founded by Neil Bush, a brother to former President George W. Bush and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, goes by the name Bush China Foundation for short. Its goal, according to its website, is to build "a constructive relationship" between the U.S. and China. But a written agreement published by Axios reveals that the Bush China Foundation agreed in 2019 to accept $5 million over five years from the China-United States Exchange Foundation,
Are our federal intelligence agencies

A lot of people have been wondering why, suddenly, the leftist establishment is embracing the idea that COVID came from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (which is tied to the Chinese military) after denying the possibility for so long. The answer may lie in the fact that the Defense Intelligence Agency has for months been debriefing a high-level Chinese Communist Party defector — but withheld the information from other agencies until recently because of fears that those agencies are compromised. In other words, it's a twofer: China did create and release the virus, and our federal government cannot be trusted.

Two Iranian ships have rounded the Cape of Good Hope, appearing to head for the Atlantic Ocean and on to Venezuela, according to reports. The move presents a significant and aggressive step during a tense moment in relations between the U.S. and Iran. The two ships – an Iranian frigate and the Makran, an oil tanker that was converted to a floating forward staging base – made their way south along the Eastern coast of Africa and rounded the Cape of Good Hope on Friday. Satellite imagery of the ship from early May provided by Maxar Technologies shows seven fast-attack boats aboard the Makran’s deck, USNI reported.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., shared two words in response to news of unearthed emails from Dr. Anthony Fauci. Thousands of emails obtained by Buzzfeed News and hundreds more reviewed by The Washington Post through Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests show Fauci's responses to both critiques and high praise as he worked to communicate the dangers of COVID-19 to the U.S. as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. "Told you," Paul wrote in a Tuesday tweet with the hashtag #firefauci. He added in another tweet: "Can’t wait to see the media try to spin the Fauci FOIA emails."

I get the New York Times' daily free newsletter in my email. You can save your rotten tomatoes. I refuse to pay for anything they print. But sometimes it's useful to stay in contact with the other side. The NYT May 27 letter discusses the history of the COVID lab leak theory and declares that "the best mitigation strategies — travel restrictions, testing, contact tracing, social distancing, ventilation, and masking — are still the best mitigation strategies." My parsimony has once again been proven well founded. Let's break it down. Mitigation is "the process or result of making something less severe, dangerous, painful, harsh, or damaging."
Why would the Senate make it easier

For over a year, conservatives have suspected that the Wuhan virus came, not from people eating bats or pangolins, but from Chinese researchers messing around with bat viruses. That suspicion has now been pretty much confirmed. China, whether carelessly or deliberately, created and released a virus that essentially destroyed the world as we know it. It should be made a pariah nation, but instead, the Senate, by a huge margin that included almost all Republicans, adopted an amendment that cuts tariffs on hundreds of products that China ships to America. I'm probably being very stupid here, but for the life of me, I can't understand why.

CNN must be wishing it had President Trump to kick around some more. What else to say to the news that its ratings have gone "down the toilet" as mrcNewsBusters put it? ...as per the latest Nielsen ratings, CNN has continued to hemorrhage viewers with primetime and entire day total viewership down over 70 percent since January. Nielsen Media Research has the breakdown and it’s not pretty, no matter how the Zucker Borg would spin it. Since a January high of roughly 798,000 primetime viewers and 530,000 total day viewers in the 25-54 demographic, CNN has fallen off a cliff

Israel’s Defense Forces shared a video Wednesday that they said showed Hamas leader Yehiyeh Sinwar "proudly" showing off "a child holding a firearm." In the video, the child is also wearing camo fatigues and what appears to be a flak vest, greeting a group of adult men on a stage. He is hoisted into the air, brandishing what looks like a rifle with a high-capacity magazine as music plays and the adults hug him and kiss his hand. The video was taken at a Hamas rally in Gaza City on Monday. The child’s father was a member of Hamas’ military wing, the Qassam Brigades, who was killed in the 11-day conflict

Even a mild case of coronavirus could leave people with lifelong protection against the virus, a new study suggests, with researchers calling previous reports that immunity was not long-lived following infection "a misinterpretation of the data." In the study, conducted by Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and published May 24 in the journal Nature, researchers took bone marrow samples from 18 out of 77 participants who were already signed up to give blood samples at three-month intervals starting about a month after initial infection. The bone marrow samples were taken between seven and eight months after initial COVID infection.

If these were any other vaccines, they would already be off the market. In fact, they would have been pulled a long time ago. Usually, a new drug is withdrawn after 50 deaths, which isn't typical because the FDA has a strict approval process. The COVID-19 vaccines have been exempted from it, instead being temporarily "authorized" for emergency use. These vaccines have coincided with 3,544 American deaths and 12,619 serious injuries as of April 23, according to the CDC's Vaccine Adverse Event Reports System database (VAERS, republished "as is" in user-friendly format here). The flu vaccines by comparison are linked to 20–30 death reports a year,

Scaring the public into supporting the economy-wrecking Green Bad Deal is easier if we hide the data on previous periods of rising temperatures. And that is what has been done by our very own EPA, as Larry Hamlin documents at Watts Up With That: The EPA has deleted (this chart and data no longer exist at the EPA website) its prior indicator climate data trend chart showing “unusually hot and cold temperatures” across the U.S. and showing the U.S. Heat Wave Index from 1895 to 2015 (shown below) that clearly established the unique drought and heat period of the 1930s.

Late Friday the British publication DailyMail reported that the United States Department of Defense provided $39 million in grant funding to “EcoHealth Alliance” as part of the aggregated grant funding received by EcoHealth Alliance to conduct various types of “gain of function” virus research – a type of research in which scientists engineer viruses to make them more transmissible or lethal and which can be used to create bioweapons. He said during an Economic Club of Chicago event Friday about the new election integrity law in Georgia: That's the kind of dangerous behavior that we're going to have to push back on. Obama suggested that urban areas will face more barriers in order to vote, alleging that the law made a "different set of rules for how votes are counted in Atlanta versus how they're counted in the rest of Georgia."

“Damning” science strongly suggests that COVID-19 is a man-made monster, optimized in a lab for maximum infectivity before hitting the outside to catastrophic effect, two experts said Sunday. Writing in an opinion piece for The Wall Street Journal, Dr. Steven Quay and Richard Muller pointed to two key pieces of evidence to support the claim, which has increasingly gained steam after long being derided as little more than speculation.(Snip) The pair noted that the double CGG sequence has never been found naturally among the entire group of coronaviruses that includes CoV-2, which causes COVID-19.
