A standout former University of Oklahoma volleyball player is suing her coaches and the school claiming she was labeled a racist and excluded from the team because of her conservative views. Kylee McLaughlin, 22, said she was left disenfranchised because her political beliefs didn't align with her coaches and teammates. The former Sooners All-Big 12 player, who has since transferred to the University of Mississippi for her final year, is suing OU, coach Lindsey Gray-Walton and assistant coach Kyle Walton for $75,000 each over five complaints. They include one alleged infringement on her First Amendment rights and the case is pending in Oklahoma City federal court, The Oklahoman reported.

I need more context than this, FTA: "It also states that she said that black Americans are disproportionately incarcerated 'mostly for marijuana and drugs'." You could make a claim like this without saying it was a good reason for people to be incarcerated. Also, is this claim factually correct? Are black folks put in prison mainly for pot and drugs? If that is so, one could argue that such people need rehabilitation, not prison time. I don't know whether what this woman has said is accurate or not. I don't know the context. But forcing anyone to sit through this or that training doesn't sound like free speech to me, especially if one must keep one's mouth shut if one disagrees with or questions the training. That doesn't sound like a true "liberal arts education" to me.

My brother, a Catholic professor, got frozen out of employment from a public college several years ago because of Leftism. He sued the college and settled out of court. But even when these Leftists nuts are sued, they still don't get it. They are just plain hostile to the First Amendment and proud of their hostility.

Apparently there was no problem with her playing skills, just her conservative views. Same can be said for Colin Kapernick. Some say he's a pretty good QB; he's just got divisive political views. This is a toughie. She was on scholarship, yes; but forcing her to "apologize" was ridiculous. We are still entitled to free speech. The school should have censured her privately and given her a choice to keep the scholarship, keep her mouth shut, and play; or transfer elsewhere.

#3, the school did exactly those three options you suggested. It's right in the article. And for that reason she won't win. You take money from a D1 school, you are a piece of meat to that school.

While I hope this woman wins, I'm not sure if I get the use of the 1st amendment in her case. My understanding is that the 1st amendment stops the federal government from limiting your speech. OU is not the federal government. They clearly discriminated against her, and they need to pay out the wazoo for that. But unless she can show the federal government somehow was involved and limited her free speech, I just don't understand how the 1st amendment would come into play in this. But I'm not a lawyer nor do I play one of TV...

A conservative commentator raised more than $104,000 to help repair the Puerto Rico home of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s grandmother, but the Democratic congresswoman and 'Squad' leader is refusing to accept it. She had posted images on social media earlier this week showing the severely damaged house - with a falling-in ceiling - which she blamed on former President Trump, who she said had blocked aid to the hurricane-ravaged island and US territory. Commentator Matt Walsh said it was rich that someone who made $174,000 a year as a congresswoman - and drove a Tesla - would be begging on Twitter for help; he organized the GoFundMe campaign that had raised $104,000.

An author who visited mosques across Britain to investigate integration has revealed how parts of Blackburn are 'no-go areas' for white men, while ultra-orthodox parents in Bradford make children live under Taliban-like rules. Author and political advisor Ed Husain, Professor at the Walsh School of Foreign Service in Georgetown University, has penned Among The Mosques: A Journey Across Muslim Britain in which he explores some of the UK's largest mosques and the Muslim communities worshiping there. The Muslim writer, who was himself radicalised in his youth and trained for Jihad by the same people as Omar Khyam, leader of the Bluewater bombers, grew up in a Bangladeshi family in Tower Hamlets.

Former SoCal Congresswoman Katie Hill has been dealt another blow in her lawsuit against her ex-husband and two media companies for publishing nude photos of her without her consent. On Wednesday, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Yolanda Orozco ordered Hill to pay British tabloid the Daily Mail $103,625 in attorneys’ fees and $1,120 in costs, the Daily News reports. This follows Orzoco’s April ruling to dismiss the Mail as a defendant in the case, in which Hill sued the paper along with ex-husband Kenny Heslep and conservative media outlet RedState, arguing that publishing the compromising photos—allegedly provided by Heslep—constituted “revenge porn,” which is illegal in 46 states.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was slammed on Twitter Wednesday for not helping her grandmother and instead posting images of her dilapidated home in Puerto Rico and blaming Trump for not sending aid after Hurricane Maria. Critics were quick to jump on the post questioning why the progressive congresswoman, who makes $174,000 and drives a Tesla, isn't sending money to help her grandmother. 'Just over a week ago, my abuela fell ill. I went to Puerto Rico to see her- my 1st time in a year+ bc of COVID,' Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter. 'This is her home,' she continued, posting two pictures of mostly-empty rooms where the ceiling is falling in.

More and more fights breaking out on airplanes. Why? The short answer is that wearing masks to protect against COVID-19 remains a politically divisive statement. Nine killed by gunfire in another mass shooting. Hateful attacks on Jews and Asians rising. All of that happened in the last week. Americans should be coming together in celebration of declining coronavirus infections this Memorial Day. Instead, the bursts of public violence and hate reflect deep political division.

Why do black African immigrants do

Millions of sub-Saharan blacks seek to immigrate to America. They apparently haven’t gotten the memo that this is a wretched land of systemic anti-black racism. When they get here, they’re strangers in a strange land. English is usually not their first language. Their skin color tends to be very black, not the lighter color of American blacks who have an average of about 25% white blood in them. Despite those handicaps, they do better than American-born blacks. Compared to American-born blacks, their income is about a third higher, their poverty rates are significantly lower, their educational achievement is higher, and their marriage rate is double.
