Democratic senator Kyrsten Sinema was absent for Friday’s historic vote on a proposed Capitol riot investigation, and she still hasn’t said why. After Republicans blocked a bill to establish a commission investigating the 6 January Capitol attack, Democrats directed most of their anger at the 35 GOP senators who voted against it. But there were also two Democrats who didn’t even show up for the vote: Senator Patty Murray, and Ms Sinema. “She will be entering into the Congressional record that she would've voted yes,” the Arizona senator’s spokesperson, Hannah Hurley, told The Arizona Republic. Comments:

She likes to tweak their noses once in a while. The measure fell 6 votes short of the filibuster rule anyways.

I had the impression that this person was a freakish leftist robot, and shockingly she is certainly leftist, but no robot and a times, perhaps the "most sane Democrat in the Senate". Now....that said, this isn't a high bar. The rest of the Democrats, with the POSSIBLE exception of Manchin, are certifiable leftist loons, intent on destroying the country as fast is possible, so being better than that doesn't make one any sort of a true hero patriot. However.....she has been significantly more sane than I had expected. A small, but pleasant surprise.

Because she is a coward. She votes against her fellow democrats only when it won't make that much of a difference. She walks a tightrope as narrow as a guitar string and gets away with presenting herself as a principled moderate. She has a history of being a borderline-commie and she shaped up her image to run against Martha McSally, the most bland Republican senatorial nominee in recent memory, who also gave almost no support to Donald Trump. Not voting kept her from having a recorded vote against her fellow Democrats, and will probably fool the idiotic moderate Republicans in AZ into thinking she's on her side.

Beginning in 1973, when he was a United States Senator from Delaware, Joe Biden had a ritual: nearly every evening he would hop a train back to Wilmington after his work day on Capitol Hill, spending most nights and weekends at the place he considered home, 100 miles from Washington. (Snip) Since taking office four months ago, the President has spent more weekends away from the White House than he has stayed there, almost three times as many. Counting this Memorial Day weekend, Biden has been in Wilmington nine weekends and passed five weekends at the presidential retreat, Camp David

For months now, my friends who are millennials have struggled to find single-family homes on the market in the suburbs, exurbs and even in rural areas — and when they do, they face daunting bidding wars. Millennials are leaving the city in droves as urban centers like New York and San Francisco see their populations decline. At the same time, the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a housing shortage and skyrocketing prices, with “feeding frenzies” for houses, notably outside major urban centers. Millennials (age 25-40) are part of this dynamic, seeking to make their lives outside of cities and to

A bear attacked and injured a hiker in Yellowstone National Park Friday morning, marking the first incident of a bear injuring a person inside the park this year, officials said. A bear fatally attacked a man just outside the park in April. The 39-year-old man injured Friday was hiking alone on a trail near Mammoth Hot Springs when he encountered what he believe to be two grizzly bears. One bear attacked and injured the hiker. The Beaver Ponds Trail, where the hiker was injured, was closed until further notice. Park officials reported that staff were searching the area to make

MADRID — Spain’s postal service is feeling a backlash from its attempt to highlight racial inequality. State-owned Correos España this week issued a set of four stamps in different skin-colored tones. The darker the stamp, the lower the price. The lightest color costs 1.60 euros ($1.95). The darkest one costs 0.70 euros ($0.85). The postal service calls them “Equality Stamps” and introduced them on the anniversary of George Floyd being killed by a police officer in Minneapolis. It said the stamps “reflect an unfair and painful reality that shouldn’t be allowed” and that every letter or parcel sent with them

However, National Economic Council Deputy Director Bharat Ramamurti also told Yahoo Finance that the recent inflation jump is actually a positive sign. “The faster

Kamala Harris took things to a whole new level when her Memorial Day tweet had a picture of her smiling, along with the breezy message to “Enjoy the long weekend.” Of course, Memorial Day is not just an opportunity for a three-day weekend.

It’s the jab or the job. Employers are allowed under federal law to require workers to get a COVID-19 vaccine before they can physically return to the workplace, according to updated guidance issued by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Friday. But they must provide “reasonable accommodations” for workers who refuse the shots because of a disability—including pregnancy—or for religious reasons, the agency said. The decision may mean unvaccinated employees could be required to wear masks, or to work remotely. The EEOC’s rules also gave the green light to companies offering incentives as a means of encouraging staffers to get vaccinated,
