The three-hour radio slot left vacant by the death of conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh is to be filled by a lawyer-turned-sports journalist and a former CIA counter-terrorism expert-turned-political commentator.
The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show will be broadcast on hundreds of stations across the country from June 21st.
Limbaugh died in February from lung cancer at the age of 70. Travis, 42, founded the sports website Outkick.com while Sexton, 40, is an ex-CIA and New York police officer.
At one stage, conservative commentator Dan Bongino was thought to be the front-runner, but now he will front his own show to compete directly with Travis & Sexton.

Rush was so much bigger than life that there are times I expect him to return live on radio.

I have never heard of either. I have tuned into Rush's spot, but iHeart radio has become unbearable. You cannot push the on button at any time that there is not a series of ads. It is awful, and unlistenable.

With all due respect to Dan Bongino, I have listened the last few days, I find myself back and forth with he and Wilkow, more so Wilkow to be honest..I'm sure Dan in time will hit stride..

I like Buck Sexton! I don't recognize Travis.
But as #1 said, no one will ever replace Rush!

Don't know Travis. Sexton is good. Don't understand what Rush's wife and the organization are thinking. Maybe they didn't want one person replacing Rush so a duo was hired.
Regardless, no one will replace Rush. Audience will determine if the duo or a solo Bongino is what they want to hear.
One thing for certain: they need to stop playing tapes of Rush as if he were just on vacation. It's creepy

Dan Oingoboingo's show has already begun airing in the spot formerly held down by El Rushbo on WMAL in DC. I listened to a bit of his show while i was lut and about this afternoon. Sounds like it's going to be heavy on guest interviews, whereas Rush could carry his show himself with just the rare guest.

I know who Buck Sexton is but not the other gentleman. Remember, they are taking up the Limbaugh time slot which is not to be confused with replacing Rush. Rush cannot be replaced. If people tune in, and money is being made and there is a growing interest they have a chance of success. If not they will move on and others will be looked at. I watch Dan when he is on television but have not listened to him on the radio or his pod cast. I wish everyone well and we will see how it shakes out.

I have never liked broadcasts in which the hosts talk to each other rather than the listeners. It seems to be more entertainment than commentary. At my age I probably won't get on the Howard Stern type of radio. I do wish them luck. Conservatives need it.

I have heard Buck on his own show a few times. Not bad - do not know Clay Travis. But no one will ever have their finger on the pulse of the daily mood of the country like Rush. He will never truly be replaced.

I look at it this way: They're filling a time slot. They're not replacing Rush. I'm with #9...unless the listeners are part of the show, the focus in many ways, this will be another talk show. Nothing special.

Dan Bongino has a pretty good show... Sadly our once Conservative station (WHAM) has become more and more Leftist.

The more conservatives on the radio the better. I do miss Ma Ha Rushie though. His passing has left a hole in my everyday life. Ugh...

I highly recommend Dan Bongino. I've been listening to his podcast for years and don't feel I've wasted any of that time at all.

I have listened to Buck Sexton for a while now. He kinda replaced Rushie for me. I miss Rush terribly. He is irreplaceable. But we need to move on and carry on. Our country needs another Conservative voice. I look forward to listening to the new duo.

The folks at EIB/Premiere/iHeart/Clear Channel would be wise to do a couple things -- Keep Rush's name in the program (Like The Rush Limbaugh Program presents ... ) and keep the rights to the library of Rush's shows from the Rush Limbaugh Museum of Broadcasting.

To Reply #2 = you are point on. The same goes for most radio and TV programs. I gave up listening and watching long ago because at least 50% of the programming is filled with commercials, ad nauseum. A fact: I do like the radio when driving. Last week I had a bunch of errands to run. I started counting each time I got back in the car and turned on the radio. Tried nine times and nine times there was a commercial on. AND that was a supposed talk show. AND sometimes the commercials lasted until my next stop.

Never heard of Travis, Sexton did a lot of fill in for Rush.....and while not bad....a pale imitation of Rush. But then again....I don't think anyone could do what Rush did as well as he did it.

I would rather listen to thirty-odd years' worth of Rush's taped programs than to listen to some of the hosts who have been vying to replace him. Buck Sexton is not that special, but he is believable. I don't know the other guy.

Huge mistake. Bongino would have picked up where Rush left off.

The missing element in Conservative media is humor - something Rush displayed regularly. Instead, we have overbearing, testosterone filled and often obnoxious commentary. Buck is a good choice. I hope he find the balance between genuine news and entertainment as Rush did.

Let it rest ...there ain't no Rush. Sorry , but I wish them all good luck and I bet everyone involved with the show is a pro. Rush would not have employed losers
