Senator Tim Kaine, who claims to be a Catholic, has compared the church’s teachings on abortion to Sharia Law.
In an op-ed for the far-left National Catholic Reporter, Kaine was arguing against bishops who want to withhold communion from Joe Biden over his radical abortion policies.
“Catholics in public life not only live according to church doctrine but additionally shape the law, even to include the threat of criminal prosecution and punishment, to enshrine church doctrine on sexuality as mandatory for all Americans is contrary to our basic liberty,” he wrote. “Why would government require that Catholic sexuality doctrine, or Sharia law,

Tim Kaine needs to quit identifying as a Catholic. People who are pro-abortion should just find a different "religion" that fits their philosophy. I'm tired of people who think they need to change things to fit their beliefs rather than finding a group that shares their beliefs. What a clueless individual.

My reply will probably offend some Catholics. However, everyone who is interested in the saving grace of Jesus Christ should read "The Holy Bible" a beautiful read.

#5 My comments may offend some Protestants, but Catholics were reading it first, for 1500 years before Protestants came along. Bless your heart.

And yet they have no problem with outlawing capitol punishment and call us evil because we believe in it. So what is more evil? Killing a totally innocent child or punishing someone who murders in cold blood? Roe should be overturned and send it back to the states to rule on.

Jesus’ “primary concern” was carrying out the work of salvation. But that doesn’t mean nothing else concerned Him. In fact, most of what He said did not pertain to His “primary concern.” It’s still our Christian duty to believe and follow what He taught us.

So, Senator Kaine, how do you interpret these words of Jesus:
Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come! It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

#5, the Church encourages Catholics to read the Bible. Every Mass has readings from the Old Testament, the New Testament, and the Gospels. If you've never attended a Mass you might want to sometime. It may change your opinion.

Sen. Kaine. There is a place for you in the church. Just not the Catholic Church. Go find a nice Episcopalian church where the liturgy is familiar but you can browse the cafeteria for beliefs that make you comfortable.
and by the way, #5, I am not offended. Just puzzled that you are unaware that 99% of the liturgy in the mass is scriptural. Well, maybe not "Good morning".

Catholics couldn't read, nor even own a Bible until after the Great Reformers; Wycliffe, Tyndale, Zwingli, Hus, Calvin, and Luther had risked, and sometimes given, their lives to bring Scripture in the common tongue to the masses. That rather than the Latin Vulgate spoken by the Priests in their Mass. As they said, "Latin was the only language Satan didn't understand," which justified speaking it to the uneducated peasant congregants. It would take over a thousand years before Catholics could hear our Holy Scripture spoken in the languages they used every day.
The Reformation provided great momentum to the development of this nation, and the writings of men like Luther held great sway over the Founding Fathers. For example, the Second Amendment was due in large part to the teachings Luther made from Scripture that a man should be armed to protect himself and his home from criminals. Free speech is another virtue born of the vicious persecution of Protestant Christians at the hands of the "Mother Church." Lest we forget the Spanish Inquisition, the genocide of the Huguenots, or the persecution of the Waldenses, and later the Roman Inquisition. Not once has there been a "Protestant Inquisition."
Even Catholic Priests of today are owning up to the horrific failures and outright crimes against humanity inflicted by the Roman Church during the dark ages and beyond. It's good medicine to admit one's wrongs, though it's what's done today that counts.

I agree with the posters who mentioned that the Catholic Mass includes readings from Sacred Scripture of the Old Testament, New Testament, and primarily the Gospels which quote Our Lord Speaking to His Apostles, Disciples, and the general public, which committed what they heard to memory, since they were
illiterate, not stupid. The Catholic Church informs us that the practicing, attending Catholics are enlightened to hear the Bible in its entirety after three year cycles of A, B, C. If we choose to listen, we continue to refresh our memories, and learn these Sacred Truths!! No, we're not offended by this. Hurling the torrid trash that has come to light is not high on the charitable list. As we should well know Our Lord came to SAVE the SINNERS, not those heading for Heaven. We don't seem to be scandalized by sick or dying patients in the hospitals, since that was their intention to be built, to care for the needy. Charity demands that we help those who're in need of salvation, and to strive not to look down our noses at the "unchurched" or those who may've lost their way.
Better to follow our Lord's Divine Example to PRAY for others, lest we be admonished and risk our eternity with Him. He, after all, is the Divine Physician!

#23~ Heartfelt gratitude for a truly enlightened composition of biblical history. Biblical studies and Christian education were of utmost importance for early Lutherans; there was and remains great importance on study of Holy Scripture. Martin Luther believed “that the Word was not lifeless and passive but was truly lively and life-giving ... that through His Word, God worked to bless and guide His Church ... therefore, Luther viewed the Gospel of God’s Word as a means of grace ...” Studying the Bible for Lutherans “is never merely an intellectual exercise ... Study is meditation on God’s Word, an act of devotion ... by opening the Bible and turning its pages, Lutherans petition heaven for mercy, wisdom, and strength.” Luther’s writings are not the foundation of Lutheranism. Scripture alone is.
Senator Kaine may do well to read Romans 13:1-7 (Submission to Authorities) for a better understanding of God’s directive on civil authority and God’s authority. People of faith are to obey civil authority unless civil authority commands doing something contrary to what God commands. God’s laws prevail over man’s laws as evidenced by Peter’s words to the religious leaders when commanded that he and the other disciples not preach or teach any longer in Jesus’ name: “We must obey God rather than men.” (Acts 5:29) Abortion is murder and violates the Commandment, “Thou shalt not murder.” The Bishops are justified in withholding Communion from those who condone and facilitate abortion.
Regarding Senator Kaine’s assertion that Jesus’ message was about loving one’s neighbor, the response by #8 is crystal clear.

#23, you might want to read a little history of what happened in England when Henry VIII decided to destroy the Catholic Church there. Persecution, death, and destruction were commonplace -- all at the hands of Henry's Protestant church. To say "Not once has there been a "Protestant Inquisition"" is certainly not held up to the experience of Catholics in England from that time.
And, no, I'm not Catholic. But I do like history, and yours needs a lot of updating!!!

Since I’ve been saved, people like this who claim to be people of faith yet really are of no faith, or worship a god they have fashioned in their own likeness, still can enrage me but more and more I simply, sadly, see a dead man walking, since I know his terrifying fate.
