Reform-minded activists in California vow to move forward after a bill that would have dramatically reduced, and in some cases eliminated, enhanced sentences for crimes committed while using a gun failed to advance through the legislature Thursday. "AB 1509 was held in the Appropriations committee and will not move forward this year," Greg Fidell, policy manager of Initiate Justice, wrote on Twitter. "This is very painful - but we will be back stronger next year."

Comments:

Perhaps the reason that 89% of the 40,000 criminals serving time for gun crimes are black might be because blacks do 89% of the gun crimes in California?
But ...."it's racist".....LOL. No, everyone is subjected to the same law, just that 89% of the criminals with guns are black.
I wonder who's fault that is?

The article states that the main sponsor of 1509 is Democrat Alex Lee. 25 year old bisexual from San Jose. From an article dated November 5, 2020 : "Lee said his his politics align with Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who endorsed the young Democrat’s bid for the Assembly."

It's all the guns' fault you see. The guns did the crime. The person holding can't be held accountable. Besides firearms' manufacturing is a result of White Supremacy.

Confession: I sat on a jury as an alternate many years ago, it was a murder trial. So the guy (no description needed) got into a beef, went home, grabbed a piece, walked into the victim's shop and shot him. Then when crowing about it up the road. JUST before sending us off, the defendant conceded the possession charge. I sat silent as the jurors did their discussion and voted...took a couple hours. After the vote I was asked my opinion. I agreed, but. told them that his possession of a gun was a protected right. Even in our State constitution. That he chose to wander back and fetch it was a major faux pas. You were home, just CHILL!. *Major* kudos to the old man living nearby that had the sand to stand up and identify the guy. My enduring respect for him. So after the trial (Not real sure the Judge didn't sleep through it) The lawyers/Prosecutor/Judge made themselves available for any questions of us. I might have frightened the defendants Lawyer when I asked for her card...just in case. AND I told her if I was in that chair, don't plead out the possession charge. That got me a smile. Thus endeth the Lesson. :)

The driver, 41-year-old Frank Padilla Velez, began acting erratically when Zimmerer tried to speak with him, according to the sheriff’s office. Renaissance education is the foundation of the modern university system. It was based on the concept of the Universal Man or Uomo Universale. As mankind was the ultimate creation of God, it was man’s job to reach his maximum by continual self-improvement. This idea led to the notion that men should try to embrace all knowledge and develop their own capacities as fully as possible. To be a Renaissance man, one must develop his knowledge base as well as his craft. Perhaps no person embodies this concept more than Renaissance artist, scientist, and inventor Leonardo da Vinci. In Leonardo, a duality of the mind and hands is found.

Lurking among the jubilant Americans venturing back out to bars and planning their summer-wedding travel is a different group: liberals who aren’t quite ready to let go of pandemic restrictions. For this subset, diligence against COVID-19 remains an expression of political identity—even when that means overestimating the disease’s risks or setting limits far more strict than what public-health guidelines permit. In surveys, Democrats express more worry about the pandemic than Republicans do. People who describe themselves as “very liberal” are distinctly anxious. This spring, after the vaccine rollout had started, a third of very liberal people were “very concerned” about becoming seriously ill

The people in the stands look gorgeous, dressed to the nines. The weather this year was 70 degrees and sunny. Right before the big race, the University of Louisville marching band played the time-honored classic “My Old Kentucky Home,” as they have since the 1920s.

A critical race studies and ethnic studies professor at the University of Colorado-Boulder says Americans wondering why Black citizens commit anti-Asian hate crimes have an answer: “White supremacy.” The educational watchdog Campus Reform spotlighted the commentary of Jennifer Ho, which preceded President Biden’s newly signed legislation aimed at combatting hate crimes against Asian Americans. “Anti-Asian racism has the same source as anti-Black racism: White supremacy,” Ms. Ho wrote for The Conversation. “So when a Black person attacks an Asian person, the encounter is fueled perhaps by racism, but very specifically by White supremacy. White supremacy does not require a White person to perpetuate it.”
