Black and Hispanic Americans are statistically underrepresented among those receiving COVID-19 vaccinations, according to data compiled by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention — a demographic reality overlooked in the ongoing media focus on rural white aversion to the vaccines as the stumbling block to national vaccination goals. As of May 15, black Americans constituted only 8.9% of those who received at least one dose of the vaccine despite being 12.4% of the U.S. population.

I chose to get the vaccine so that I could interact more with my elderly relatives. It gave them peace of mind. No one in my family died, and only one got mildly sick from the virus. I have some younger relatives who are declining the vaccine because they feel that the risk of side effects is greater than their probability of suffering and dying from COVID-19. I can respect that.
Black and Hispanic communities suffered disproportionately from COVID not because of some racist plot, but because of their traditional eating habits and lifestyles. White people with those habits died of COVID as well. If I had relatives who were morbidly obese, had high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney disease, etc., I would absolutely be in line for the vaccine.

Maybe the bribes will have to get bigger. So much government lucre out there that the vaccine bribes are gonna have to be sweetened up to get them to take notice.

I would want to see the raw data and and understand its source and gathering methods.
I view the cdc as a mere propaganda organ that engages in some legitimate activities in order to maintain its propaganda value.
I would not believe these alleged rates without full context.

I know math is hard, but this story seems to have the data completely backwards. 8.9%/12.4% = 71% of blacks have received at least one vaccination. That's at least comparable to other demographics.

They can't get voter Id's, so probably not capable of it.

Let’s not forget that while Trump was president minorities were told not to get the Trump vaccines. Is it possible that is still playing a part in this fiasco?

I thought we were being assured by the media that everyone who refused to get vaccinated was a knuckle-dragging MAGA-hat wearing Neanderthal Trumper.
(Just curious, but I wonder how many far-left Dims happen to be anti-vaxxers, e.g. all vaccines from measles to the Wuhan COVID?)

Some statistics are countered by other statistics. Of course, some statistics may not be spoken, even by the truth-tellers. Some people are obsessed with all things racial (except the unspeakable subjects). Narratives must be maintained!

The Margaret Sanger crew are worried about not getting enough 'penetration' in the black and Hispanic 'communities'....where they'd like to make the biggest 'impact', according to Sanger's policies.

Typical... They demand to be moved to the head of the line, then turn their backs once they are.

"Historically, black Americans have experienced considerable racism at the hands of white medical authorities..." So, here we go again. Once the Tuskegee experiment is mentioned, there are never any examples given. Other comments like "present-day experiences of racism in the medical industry" likewise, no evidence. This is the standard pitch now, matter-of-fact throw away comments about undefined "systemic racism". Democrats splitting us apart by making blacks permanent wards of the federal government in exchange for their votes.

This Despite the fact that in several cities, blacks and hispanic ZIP codes received priority over others in vaccination

Some of us simply are not vaccine takers. It’s no more complicated than that. Leave us alone.

Blacks are too busy figuring out how to get a photo ID. They don't have the time to get vaccinated.
