Brutal: U.K. Labour Party leftists
thrashed in yesterday's U.K. special election

Talk about cruelty to animals. The U.K. Labour Party took the mother of all thrashings in yesterday's local or special elections, losing its longtime stronghold of Hartlepool in the industrial north for the first time in 62 years, and by a monster margin. That wasn't the only one. According to the Daily Mail: Ministers have predicted that Boris Johnson could rule longer than Margaret Thatcher as results showed the Tories could take 36 more Westminster seats from Labour at the next General Election. Labour was thrashed in the Hartlepool by-election on Thursday, with Jill Mortimer securing a majority of almost 7,000 in a seat the Tories had not held since 1964.

Comments:

Nothing like a leftist getting a good electoral thrashing.

The latest jobs report shows that President Joe Biden is already leaving his imprint on the economy. Job growth was “unexpectedly” slow, and unemployment climbed, despite a massive shortage of workers. When the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported the jobs numbers for April, the press seemed stunned. Only 266,000 jobs were created, well below forecasts. The number for March had to be revised down by 146,000. And unemployment ticked up for the first time since the lockdown. The New York Times said that “Jobs Report Shows Surprising Slowdown in Hiring.” Another said “New Jobs Report Shocks Experts With Unexpected Hiring

Mexican crime cartels, never seeing the U.S. border so inviting as it has been under President Joe Biden, are openly driving to the border with tractor trailers full of illegal immigrants and drugs to unload their cargo, according to a new report. For the first time, 18-wheelers are stopping at the Rio Grande to dump their cargo in the poorly defended Big Bend areas of West Texas as cartels shop for new crossing points. “It’s never been this busy,” one agent told Todd Bensman of the Center for Immigration Studies. He has been on the border charting the impact of Biden’s border-opening policies, dubbed “la invitacion” by illegal immigrants.

Looks like it's not just mansions for smooth operator Patrisse Cullors, who co-founded Black Lives Matter. She's also into stretches at luxury resorts, with some very curious accounting. According to an investigative report from the Daily Caller: Los Angeles-based jail reform group led by BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors spent nearly $26,000 for “meetings” at a luxury Malibu beach resort in 2019, according to campaign finance records reviewed by the Daily Caller News Foundation. Reform LA Jails dropped $10,179 for “meetings and appearances” at the Calamigos Guest Ranch and Beach Club in Malibu, California,

The Biden administration is loud and insistent that its dinner-triangle policies have nothing to do with the migrant surge rolling through our southern border. Never mind what the President of Mexico says, Biden and his vice president, Kamala Harris, are adamant. "The truth is, nothing has changed," Biden told the nation in a national address. Explaining the surge, Biden claimed: "I'd like to think it's because I'm a nice guy, but it's not." He insisted that the surgers were just seasonal surgers, nothing to do with his recission of President Trump's migration treaties with Mexico and Central America, nor his

Remember Pauline Kael? She's the famous Manhattan film critic who apocryphally said that she couldn't understand how anyone could vote to re-elect President Nixon in 1972, because she didn't know anyone. (Actually -- she did know one, but lost track of him.) She "lived in a rather special world," as she put it. Well, the New York Times still lives there, and appears to like being mired in the same Mr. Magooism. Latest nonsense from those heights comes from a big data-journalism-driven piece with three bylines and four contributors on vaccine hesitancy around the U.S., concluding that it's all those troglodytes who voted for President Trump

Joe Biden is getting pathetic. He's flapping in the breeze on the border crisis, flipping and flopping on whether the record number of illegal migrants surging our border amounts to a crisis, and shifting his stance on how many refugees he plans to force on America, like it or not. According to John Solomon's JustTheNews: President Biden on Saturday called the historic border surge a “crisis” for the first time, even as he pushed ahead with plans to increase the caps for refugees admitted into the United States. ”We’re going to increase the number [of refugees]," he said at a news conference.

Bloomberg has a credible story about how its bond market is going, beginning with this lovely headline: In Venezuela Bond Market, Gunmen and Bags of Cash Are Required ...and lede: In what is perhaps the tiniest and almost certainly the most primitive bond market in the world, default isn’t the greatest risk that investors face. Mugging is. This market can be found in Caracas, Venezuela, where the socialist government of President Nicolas Maduro is ever so slowly freeing up the battered economy to allow the kinds of capitalist ventures it had long banned. It's already ridiculous that the foundation of this country relies on who the president is when one of nine geriatric Supreme Court justices either dies or retires. It's doubly ridiculous then, that a Supreme Court justice would understand this fickle structure, see its constant abuse by one political side, and yet refuse to retire when the party that most aligns with their judicial philosophy is in power. Genetically modified mosquitoes have been released for the first time in the United States as part of an experiment to combat insect-borne diseases such as Dengue fever, yellow fever, and the Zika virus. UK-based biotechnology firm Oxitec, which is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, said it released the mosquitoes in six locations in Monroe County’s Florida Keys: two on Cudjoe Key, one on Ramrod Key, and three on Vaca Key. It’s part of an effort to help tackle a disease-transmitting invasive mosquito population—the Aedes aegypti mosquito species—that’s responsible for “virtually all mosquito-borne diseases transmitted to humans,” according to the company.

How the Brits Did It -Here’s why American conservatives should pay attention to the recent special election in Hartlepool, United Kingdom: The British Conservative Party has modernized and mobilized itself to win a parliamentary constituency that the Labour Party had held for nearly 60 years; indeed, the Conservative candidate won the seat on May 7 by more than 23 points. Now that’s a story worth paying attention to, with an eye toward our replicating it here. The parallels between American conservatives and British conservatives are strong and more recently even stronger, as the two parties have taken a populist, pro-worker, anti-globalist turn.
