'Alarming rate': Demoralized cops flee

Police officers nationwide are turning in their badges at record rates amid budget cuts, policy changes and anti-brutality protests. An estimated 5,300 officers quit or retired from the New York Police Department last year, 200 or more cops have left the Seattle force, and in the nation’s capital, the union reports that the 3,700-strong Metropolitan Police Department is down 300 badges since the D.C. Council enacted sweeping police reforms last summer.(Snip) In Baltimore, the department has lost nearly 300 officers since last year, leaving detectives “overwhelmed with their caseload because they, too, are short-staffed,” said the leader of the local

I would expect many more to resign. In this time and climate, I would not want anyone in my family to be in law enforcement.

If they think that these police officers that are resigning are going to disappear into thin air, they are sadly mistaken. These officers see what’s happening and know what’s coming, just like many in the military. The left is so blinded by their rage and hatred of all things, that they are not able to see they are building a huge army for the other side. I sincerely hope these police men and women move to communities that will appreciate their training, hard work and dedication, and where they stand a greater chance of going home to their families alive after their shift. Let the democrat cities burn to the ground.

I quit that crummy job in 1984 for a lot less than they put up with now. Its amazing how good life can be when all that stress is taken away. We are all idealistic when we are young, and many hire into a police department to make the world a better place. It usually doesn't take long for reality to strike. The world doesn't want to be a better place. It wants to go to Hell at warp speeds and will hate anyone who tries to stop it. So you get angry, then depressed. If you are lucky you get jaded. If you are unlucky you blow your own brains out. Or you get out.

FTA: "In at least nine cities that made large cuts to police funding last year, homicides rose by nearly 68%, according to data analysis by The Times. " Predictable, but chilling. So, in cities that already had high homicide rates, they have jumped by 2/3rds in one year. One of the sad things about this is that, almost certainly, the majority of those who were murdered were blacks, murdered by other blacks. And this large black death toll gets no interest in most of the press, no special efforts to address, while the deaths of very few violent black criminals who violently resist arrest or violently attack people are painted as " a national tragedy", and reasons to 'defund police', which we "discover" then causes a large increase in homicide. This is a political power play, and not rational at all. As individual Americans we need to recognize that there are fewer police out there in many places, and many officers will be more hesitant to stop violent criminals. And violent people feel that they 'have a right' to attack people solely for being asian, or white, or whatever. Unprovoked racial attacks on whites and asians are now commonly in the news. Be aware, and be safe out there. There are a tiny minority of people who are hair trigger violent, or require no trigger at all, just a convenient victim of the appropriate race.

This exodus will be compounded by the inability to replace experienced officers who are retiring and resigning. No one in their right mind will want to work in a big city police department. They'll take less money to work in red state small towns where they're not in danger every minute of the day, and they're supported by the community. Leftist cities will deteriorate until they become dystopian like in "Escape from New York." Where's Snake Plissken when you need him?

A group of gay police officers is barred from marching in next year’s annual Pride parade, the police organization’s leaders said Friday. New York City Pride has told the NYPD’s Gay Officers Action League that it is not welcome in the parade, said Det. Brian Downey, president of the police group. NYC Pride had been expected to announce the Gay Officers Action League’s exclusion from the parade early next week. But GOAL preempted that announcement by issuing a news release on Friday night—and it referred to parts of the NYC Pride statement on its exclusion that have not been released yet.

Bentonville, Ark.—Walmart, the world’s largest retailer, said Friday that it won’t require vaccinated shoppers or workers to wear a mask in its U.S. stores unless state or local laws say otherwise. Vaccinated shoppers can go maskless immediately, the company said. Vaccinated workers can stop wearing them on Tuesday. As an incentive, Walmart said it is offering workers $75 if they prove they’ve been vaccinated. Customers won’t be asked but rather held to an “honor system” regarding their vaccination status, Walmart said. Workers, however, will need to answer “yes” to a vaccination question in a daily health assessment in order to go maskless,
